My older son, 16 and 11 year old grandsons, my grandsons' 16 year old friend and I had a blast doing a 1-night overnight float trip on the Arkansas starting just below Numbers. After rafting through The Narrows we had a box sandwich lunch in Buena Vista on the riverbank and then continued downriver to a nice campsite where we enjoyed a chicken & beef fajita dinner, a great night's sleep, and French toast with bacon tacos for breakfast before loading the raft for day two through Brown's Canyon.

Micah and Wes, our guides, were terrific! Micah guided our raft on day 1 while Wes solo oared the "Pig" (the raft carrying all our gear and supplies). She (Micah) solo oared the Pig on day 2 while Wes guided our raft through Brown's Canyon. Because we were strong paddlers, he took us on trickier paths through some of the rapids, which the boys really enjoyed. During the last hour or so of the trip, Wes let each boy guide the raft (through calmer waters) and did a great job teaching them the paddle strokes and techniques needed to become a river guide. Both Micah and Wes worked hard to ensure we had a great and safe trip, and had great senses of humor. All in all, a 10!

I was looking for a good trip for my son and I to celebrate his 40th birthday. We decided on the 3 day 2 night white water rafting and camping trip. We had an awesome time. Our guides Gomez and Connor(Carolina for one day) were excellent they did a great job cooking and guiding us safely through 3 days of rafting. I would highly recommend an overnight, even if you don't like camping. Not sure about 2 nights? Then just book a one nighter.

We hired WA to shuttle our vehicle from Johnson Village down to Hecla Junction so my wife and I could do an exciting private float down Brown's Canyon with our dogs.
Very courteous and accommodating staff, and our truck was at the take out when we arrived! Self shuttles can be difficult to arrange on this stretch, and this made it easy for a very fair price. We did the float in about 4 hrs at 1200 cfs. If you are needing shuttle service make sure to call ahead to confirm availability.

Seriously don’t even read the reviews, just book a trip with these guys - you won’t regret it. They’re so well trained and absolutely want you to have the most fun and safest time on the river. You’ll come away with fantastic memories and a greater bond with your family/friends.

But if you’re determined to read more before booking then here’s some more info: Our family will never forget the camping and rafting trip we just had. Gomez and Kat went all out to give us memories we will remember forever. We were big theme park fans but I can honestly say that they put theme park rides to shame. The effort Gomez and Kat put into safety, logistics, food, fun, memories and thrills was second to nothing. They adapted the trip to us and absolutely aced handling the changes in logistics. The food was absolutely delicious, and despite us being one of those annoying gluten free families, they sorted all the substitutes and we’ve even come back home with new gluten free recipes and product ideas.

Great memories are invaluable and Gomez, Kat, The Dude and Wilderness Aware certainly rank right up there on delivering this!

I took my staff and a few of their family members rafting and camping on a 2 day adventure and it was AWESOME! We had Conner and he was an incredible guide who gave us a terrific ride for 2 days, we felt completely safe and had some great rapids. The other guides were also wonderful and got to hang with them at night as they cooked for us and told stories. We will be back next year and highly recommend this company and Conner as a guide!

We had a great time with Wilderness Aware. I recommend the Ducky Extreme Overnight Adventure. Its not on the menu of options so you have to call and ask for it.
Make sure to ask for Michael to be your guide. The food was great and Wilderness Aware did a great job keeping us safe and organized.

Justin and Gomez were excellent guides. Same level of care and expertise I have had with wilderness aware for the 20+ years I've used their services. HIGHLY recommend.

The Royal Gorge full day trip was indescribable. Guides timed it great to cut down on traffic. It was like we had the gorge to ourselves. Fun fun fun! Hairy adventure at times. I went with my young daughter my two older teen boys, my wife and a great friend who had never been rafting. All had an amazing time. Bucket list item...check.

Our family took the 2-day Gunnison Gorge overnight rafting trip. Class 3 and a couple class 4 rapids provided the right amount of adventure for our kids. We never saw any other rafters, just the occasional people fly fishing, which we loved. Our guides, Wes and Gomez, were the best. They were seasoned guides and super personable with our family/kids. This was the highlight of our week's vacation.

Jr was our guide and where do I start... My name is Mason and my life changed the day I entered the water with Jr. as my guide. First a little about me so you know how much in fact I did change. My life was just sorely average, I was walking through life with blinders on and never really truly appreciated all of the great things this life has to offer. Once I met Jr and went on the rafting trip all that changed. As my toes hit the chilly water I could already begin to feel the changes in my body and mind. THE WATER WILL CHANGE YOU!!! Ax we went through rapid after rapid it was Jr's soothing voice and calm demeanor that started to giv eme confidence. As we plunge through a class 4 rapid and the water washed over my all I could think is that it was a baptism of sorts. By the end of the afternoon run I already knew my life was going to be a lot different and big changes were coming. In the minutes and hours after the docking our boat on shore I had already begun a transformation. The wine was sweeter, the food just a little more tasty and friendships that had long been in need of mending were made whole again. I even called the longtime love of my life and asked her to marry me and she said YES! She said there was a quiet confidence in my voice that somehow let her know that mankind was going to make it and we would'nt suffer the same fate as the dinosaurs so many millions of years ago. As soon as I got home I grabbed her and we made love under the stars until the sun came up and now we are expecting a child of our very own. After the way this rafting trip changed my life and set into motion something I can only describe as eutopia, me and my wife already knew we had the perfect name for our son....JR

My friends and I did a full-day Browns Canyon trip last year and were so delighted by the amazing service from Wilderness Aware Rafting that we came back and signed up for the Narrows Express trip this year. We requested the same guides we had last year. No surprise; we enjoyed another fantastic day on the river. The trip itself was perfectly timed. An exciting morning of Class 3-4 rapids, then we floated back to the office for lunch (and flush toilets!) by 11:30. After a nice lunch, it was back on the river for almost 4 more hours of amazing rapids. The water flow was ideal in late June.
We had two boats and guides this time. Tom, like last year, was fun and really nice; he had lots of stories and seemed genuinely interested in how we've been over the last year. Jay (new to us this year) was goofier and told lots of funny jokes and his "true" versions of the sights and history along the river; we all had a blast with him!! When (not if) you go, use WAR and ask for Tom and/or Jay. They're the best guides I've ever had, work well together, and will make your trip one that you too will look forward to raving about on some website called TripAdvisor. ;-)
And as always, TIP THEM WELL!
