- pasowinePaso Robles, California5,371 contributionsWell worth stopping in - not your typical Welcome CenterWe stopped in here to get some maps and material. This is definitely not the normal welcome center. People here were so helpful and friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy interaction! We learned so much about things to do, where to eat/drink, and hike. So worth it. And there were nice restrooms downstairs - clean and free! We also spent a half hour there at the Historical Museum (effectively). It told about the people, the mining activities, the culture, and more. Quite the amazing experience. We even stopped back again later in our trip.Visited September 2019Written February 16, 2020
- RICART75Peru, Indiana2,036 contributionsWell maintained and conceived....We last visited here 5+ years ago, and still find this to be a wonderful first stop in orienting oneself to the area. The facility is well-maintained and nicely conceived; with a wealth of information available about Breckenridge and its surroundings. The staff were helpful when available. There is a small attached museum with interesting exhibits and films, providing a great historical perspective on the town's beginnings. And, not least of all, the restrooms were clean (located in the basement, but accessible by elevator). Again this is a great option to begin one's exploration of Breckenridge.Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 1, 2023
- jeff oDallas, Texas250 contributionsGreat Free Museum Visit ruined by a Greedy City Parking Ticket!!My wife and I enjoyed the well organized free Museum! But, on returning to our car In what we thought was a Free Public Parking Lot, discovered a $40 ticket!! It felt like entrapment!! The Lot had no gates or arms, no credit card or cash payment machines!! No mention of money or fees on the large, and inviting, Public Parking Sign!! Beware Tourists, Breckinridge wants to entrap you and steal your money!!Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 25, 2023
- mikki777Woodstock, Georgia564 contributionsNice for short stopFriendly people to ask questions of.. Museum is just a short walk through. Their bathrooms aren't open but if you cross the bridge near them, you'll find public restrooms. I would like to have done some history tours. You need reservations for those instead of being able to drop in, due to COVID. So we didn't get to do them this go around.Visited February 2021Written February 18, 2021

- dunkerhouseLondon, United Kingdom72 contributionsWhat a lovely little time capsule...worth a visit! Now THIS was a surprise to me...after living here locally (seasonally) for seven years and usually pointing our visitors here for the loo and free wi-fi, I actually stepped foot inside this winter! Sad I know but how fortunate that I finally did. If you have a visitors, I would recommend this as one of the first stops on their itinerary. They'll learn about Breck's beginnings and how it came to be the great place that it is now. It's very well done, not overly complicated and completely free! Our favourite part was the deck outside (top floor) that gives a great view of all the peaks.Visited February 2018Traveled with familyWritten February 25, 2018
- mac7610Lubbock, Texas65 contributionsHistory & InformationThis was one of our first stops during our visit to Breckenridge. We were able to enjoy a lot of the display areas in the welcome center to get a bit of history about the area. There were good reference resources for area activities, shops, restaurants, etc. available for free. A receptionist is onsite to assist with questions. Public restrooms are a bit challenging to find, but the Welcome Center had public restrooms downstairs.Visited May 2014Traveled with familyWritten May 29, 2014
- Rachel Z75 contributionsPublic bathrooms + museum and town infoThe Welcome Center is where most people in town will point you if you're looking for a bathroom. It has that (and free wifi, however it's a little slow), but it's also a visitor info center and has a whole free museum about the town and the ski resort. There's a cute little interactive area upstairs for kids. And make sure you go upstairs and out on the balcony to get a nice view of the slopes.Visited January 2014Traveled with familyWritten March 27, 2014

a. The Breckenridge Welcome Center is a FREE museum. It isn’t too big and there isn’t a lot, but it’s free. Can’t complain about that. They have some pretty interesting stuff about Breckenridge history and one VR exhibit that was apparently pretty cool (dad and wife did, not me).
b. The location is awesome. It is centrally located on Main Street right next to a play area and the pretty Riverwalk area. We hung out outside for a bit too.
c. Wife said that we had to give some major props to employee Ethan. Ethan was very interactive with my kids (one, coincidentally named Ethan as well) and she really appreciated that. He was also very knowledgeable. She said that if/when I write a review for the visitor center I NEED to make sure I acknowledge Ethan. Mahalo nui e Ethan.

Very very nice people who know a lot about the area! We were told about many attractions and various things we could do in Breckenridge. Also visited Vail and they told us all about where to go to. +++

We have learned that mid September is “shoulder season” in Breck — while the mountains will be closed, is the rest of the town open as usual? Bike shops for rentals, breweries, restaurants?

I have been to Breck many times in September. I am particularly fond of the last week of the month since that is when all of the Aspen are in their Fall colors....beautiful gold! Also, Oktoberfest is celebrated in Breckenridge in a grand way. I don't recall any restaurants being closed in September. Weather is comfortable and lodging is available.
Are there any handicapped trails in Breckenridge that accommodate wheelchairs?

Hi I would contact Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center BOEC. They provide services for those in wheelchairs. They should be able to connect you with good information.
