We practiced for a little bit on the beginner area, then my wife and kids went up the chairlift and came down the green slopes a few times. I didn't feel comfortable enough to go up the lift, but I still had a great time. We used our Epic Pass for a discount at the restaurant during lunch time, too. We had a great time!Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 10, 2024
- dbmaloneChicago, Illinois40 contributionsMy Favorite Ski ResortAwesome ski resort in every way! We started skiing in Breck because many of the restaurants can accommodate our family member with food allergies. Now other resorts just don't compare. There are runs for every skill level. We've skied Breck with kids and as a couple. Lots of variable terrain! Even at peak times, lift waits are reasonable and staff help to manage the lines efficiently. The mountain always feels safe with lots of friendly and helpful staff everywhere, at any time. We've jumped into private ski lessons twice which have been amazing. This time we skied with Nate who was an awesome instructor! He reinvigorated our love of skiing and challenged us. There are lots of restaurant options from casual to high end. The food is always excellent. We rarely eat at the mountain top restaurants, but enjoyed noodle bowls that were very good this last time. The bus system is efficient. We book a ski-in condo, and getting to a lift is just a very easy and short 3-5 minute bus ride away. Buses run every 8-10 minutes. Love the casual and friendly Breck vibe. We always meet easy going and helpful locals. The only negative for us is the altitude adjustment. It takes a day to adjust when coming from the midwest. It also limits friends and family who are sensitive from joining us. Otherwise, Breck is a 10!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 1, 2024
- Allie Gone AwayWashington DC, District of Columbia415 contributionsFavorite Epic Resort in the AreaMy favorite resort in the area! A great all-levels resort with east greens, long & groomed blues, and a nice dose of adventurous blacks. Everyone can have a good time at this resort. Make sure you get over to Peak 6 for some fun & wild blues and blacks! Park in the Tiger Lot for the cheapest parking w/o sacrificing convenience.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 23, 2024
- Brendan J16 contributionsEnjoyable Ski TripFrom the sweeping views from the top of the peaks, to the variety of terrain, it's no wonder Breckenridge is so well known. Even after a week, there's still new lines and powder stashes to be found. The ski school is a "must do" for beginners. My sister enrolled in a couple of sessions and just within that timeframe, her progression has greatly improved and now she's transitioning from greens to blue runs. As for the negatives; traversing between the peaks involves hiking or pole pushing along catwalks. Especially when getting from Peak 8 to Peak 7. Also, AVOID the on-mountain dining facilities at all cost. The food is reminiscent of standard cafeteria fare for outrageous prices. My partner and I ordered two plates of chicken fingers; fries; and 2 drinks. After the discount of my Epic pass, the total was nearly $50. In summary, Breckenridge is a great destination and has something for everybody; but there are certain things to be mindful of.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 29, 2024
- MSQ0033 contributionsGreat experience! While I am not an expert snowboarder I really enjoyed this mountain, I did go with friends who were more skilled and took on some of the other peaks. It was a great experience. It was 6 of us and we went middle of week to weekend 2/14 - 2/18. It did get progressively busier each day. The first ski lift at main entrance was pretty packed early am (20 minute wait) but once you go up and start hitting various peaks there didn't seem to be any long waits at the other lifts. Even going down the mountain didn't seem crowded except for the catwalk I think the call it where it is a pretty narrow stretch which brings you all the way down to what appeared to be main entrance. Definitely enjoyable. I would recommend and go again.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 6, 2024

Since Vail Resorts started selling Epic Passes for about the cost of one week's lift ticket cost, the slopes have gotten more and more crowded and the lift lines longer and longer. And the traffic just from Silverthorne has gotten intolerable. The traffic back up on I-70 is often a full mile from the exit. Then you have all the stop lights in Frisco and the 2 lane road to the Hospital. When you finally get to Breckenridge, traffic backs up again because people don't know where they are going. On a busy day it can take over an hour to drive the 15 miles from Silverthorne to Breckenridge. Then you must pay $25/day for parking or park in the remote lot and wait for the bus to take you to the gondola. Then you wait for the Gondola to take you to Peak 7 or 8 where you can begin to stand in line for the lifts. Or you can wait for the bus to take you to Peak 9 to wait in line there.
Breckenridge Ski Resort is always colder and windier than any other place in the county except A Basin. It is always crowded with dangerous intersecting trails. These are some of the reasons we rarely go there. This week we went back for some different skiing. We probably won't go back again this season.

Ski and die or lose your money
Review of Vail Mountain Resort

In Dec 202-Jan 2021 I tried skiing at Vail, Breckenridge, and Keystone. I had expected a lot better job of safety during Covid. What I found were packed lift lines (so much for using reservations to limit numbers) where there was no line distancing enforcement. Worse, on the chair lifts they will seat unrelated parties 18 INCHES apart next to someone breathing heavily, wearing a useless mask (if they keep it on at all). I sent in an email complaint and received no response. Finally I was provided the online site for requesting a refund. They immediately made my pass inactive into mid February then provided a very limited number of standard medical/relocation options for actually getting a refund (after they already cancelled my pass!@). In an online chat with customer service they refused to deal with me and basically said they would not elevate my concern.

Our family booked a vrbo, ski lessons, lift tickets, and ski rentals for March of 2020. We called ahead to make sure they weren’t thinking of closing because of COVID and were assured they weren’t. However, on our first full day there just as we finished getting our ski rentals the mountain did indeed close down. We were able to eventually get our money back for the rentals and the vrbo was gracious enough to refund part of our money. Breckinridge Ski resort, however, would only give us credit towards 2020. So…we booked for 2021 paying more money to use this credit. Huge snowstorm hit Denver and we were advised not to travel. Again we were unable to get refunded. In order to get our $438 to use while we are in the area this week we would have to purchase yet another pass. In all of our family Breckinridge STOLE over $3000. We used to love taking our family there. We looked forward to repeating it with our grandkids….not happening 😕

Summer visit…paid way too much for just a couple rides up the mountain due to crowds and lines.
Storm was approaching in the afternoon and everything shut down.
Views from the top were beautiful, but just. too expensive for what you get.
Staff on the lifts were rude also.
Took the grandkids.. and wouldn’t do it again or recommend to anyone.

The lay out of this resort is very poor. Management has not thought things through at all. The ski school is poorly located for both children and adults. The lift lines are long, and the lifts stop too frequently. Management only wants your ticket money and what you spend at the resorts they own.

I feel like they are charging money for everything here but not giving what other resort are offering. Keystone offers free parking Breckenridge charge $14 and their parking lot is full of ice . Someone fell walking and we almost run him over . Long stairs for restroom at peek 7 base and try to fit to stall walking in and out

Overall Breckenridge is great for skiing. However, I'm still fuming about the ski lift operators. I was in line for the Colorado Superchair 6 person lift with my two sons ages 10 and 13. We were grouped with a another threesome when a single ahead of us was supposed to be grouped with a fivesome ahead of us. Neither the single nor the ski lift operators were paying attention and he didn't get on the lift with the fivesome despite my urging. This knocked me and my 10 y/o back and I ended up riding on a 6 person lift by myself and my 10 y/o by himself on the lift behind me by himself! He rode by himself all they way up the mountain without the handle bars pulled down because he was not strong enough to do it. I still cannot believe they let this happen. Everyone at Breck was otherwise so friendly and helpful but this just leaves a bad taste for me. The ski lift personel really need to do there job.

Been going to Breck for over 20 years to ski, and am amazed at how low Vail Corp will go to make a buck.
Several years ago they took over the Peak 9 restaurant, renamed it The Overlook, jacked up prices and crammed in so much seating that you could barely move.
We skipped last year due to rampant Covid, so don’t know if it started last year or this, but when we got to the top of Peak 9 we find that there is no food service there, the bulk of the building is closed, and the one set of restrooms that remain open are apparently never cleaned. More disgusting that porta potties (in comparison, the Pioneer Crossing restaurant on Peak 7, appears to have a staff person in each restroom that is constantly mopping the floor and the toilets are clean).
How can Vail, which is pulling in tons of money, let such shameful restrooms exist on Peak 9?
They obviously have no respect for their guests.
I invite shareholders to go have a look for themselves.

Plenty of choices and lower than expected crowds this week we were visiting. Coming from the Northeast the skiing was excellent with about 3-4 inches of powder on top of the packed base. The newest peak 6 was awesome despite the 10 degrees and 20 mile winds.

We love Breckenridge and have been coming to this beautiful ski town for years. This review is to give folks an update about the ski school. First I know that they charge a lot of money for the lessons, but what most people do NOT know is that the ski instructors make only minimum range and work very hard to give your kids a great learning experience. They live for your tips and any amount is greatly appreciated. The resort does not tell you this and the instructors are not comfortable asking. It is expensive to live in Colorado and rent is very expensive. Please help out these young people who are working hard all day. We also tipped the folks that cleaned our tables at lunch, they too are working hard to keep us all safe. Also you can only make a lunch reservation on the day you ski at 7 am, be prompt because they are booked up with in 10 minutes. We found the whole experience to be safe and very fun.

I have small children that do not know how to ski and won't last long anyway. Are the bunny slopes at Breckenridge free or will I have to pay a normal lift ticket for them to just use the bunny slopes?

If I do a group lesson and include a lift ticket when I buy as a bundle, can I use that lift ticket a different day? i.e. i will be in town from Jan 20-24, im wanting to do a half day of lessons on Friday the 21, and then use my life ticket on the 23rd. I can’t get ahold of anyone via the phone for the resort to ask. Hoping one of you might be able to help! Thanks!

Hi! Is it safe to assume the 4 O'Clock run and Snowflake lift will be open before Thanksgiving?
We are looking to book an early season (11/20-24) trip to Breck and were hoping to stay along the 4 O'Clock run again because it made traveling with kids *so* easy the last time we were there (Feb 2019). I know Peak 8 is the first to open (scheduled for 11/11/21), but my husband blew my mind this morning when he asked if I expect the run & lift to be open.
Thanks and here's hoping for tons of snow this winter!

my boyfriend and I are planning our first ski trip and don't really know how to prepare. Would it be better to rent skis and equipment there or else where?

You might save a couple of dollars renting in Denver, but schlepping the stuff is a real pain. In my opinion, best to rent at the mountain.

I'll be visiting Breckenridge and skiing for the first time in a couple of weeks. I will definitely be sticking to the green slopes, but I was wondering if it is possible to ride the lifts up to the higher peaks and just stay on the lifts (rather than skiing down). Never having been to the mountains, this is all new to me.

We rode gondolas up and down the mountain - there is a stop in the middle and then a stop near the top...then it switches to chair lifts. Near the top is a great ski lodge for food and drink. Fun location to watch skiiers come down. Enjoy!

Where is the best free parking?
Written March 28, 2019
Well there is nothing FREE in Breckenridge- If you are asking about free parking the only place I know that is free in town is parking at the elementary school lot behind Carter Park. They have instituted paid parking everywhere now. It is revenue generating

Good Morning from London UK
We are considering a ski trip next Winter, to USA
We have noted various good and bad comments over Beckenridge
In the various photographs, all the lifts appear to be the old fashioned steel chair lifts which lead to long queues
Would this be correct?
Also we have noted that nightly slope grooming seems to be on a rotation method and that not every slope is groomed at the end of each day
Would this be correct
We hope you are able to find a few moments to advise us
Our Best Wishes( from a very damp London! )

The lifts are the old standard lifts but in good condition.
The slopes are groomed in rotation.
