The Breckenridge Gondola is the best way to ascend the mountain to access the peaks and ski slopes. Me and my friends are not skiers, so the gondola was free to us as "scenic riders" until 3:00 PM. We rode up and enjoyed watching the skiers and snowboarders from Robbie's.

This was a fun thing to do in the summer! It was super easy and there was virtually no line to get on the gondola. The only downside is that the plastic windows in the gondolas are pretty beat up… it was hard to take good clear pictures through them of the view. Round-trip was about 25min. Do not pay the $12 parking if you are going in the summertime, find cheaper parking nearby and just walk a little further (we parked in a lot behind the shops of main street for $1.50 an hour). Overall, great free thing to do!

It's free! No need to complain for a free service that goes over a fantastic wildlife area. We saw a MOOSE and it was amazing coming up to it, from an aerial view, and waving goodbye to it without even bothering it or scaring it. Pretty views. worth checking out the very last stop on the top (3rd stop) to check out the views and the ski resort which has an alpine slide in the summer.

Terrible experience with alpine slide in Breckenridge. Only sending up 14 people and waiting for ALL of them to come down before sending the next 14. Stood in line for 3 hours before they closed it due to weather. Spent more time in line NOT social distancing. What a joke!

This was a good way to spend about an hour....the ride itself is only about 15 minutes each way, but the scenery is spectacular! The ride itself is free, but we did pay $10 for parking at the gondola lot. Due to the affordability, ease (no hiking or biking required), and scenery definitely a must do if you have a bit of time to spare. In the summer, There are attractions at the top of the mountain (peak 8?), but they are quite spendy - $30 PER adult ride for the alpine coaster and the alpine slides were all closed due to rain. There is a quaint coffee shop.

Fun, free lunch excursion(lunch wasn’t free) but the gondola ride is! From Village at Breckenridge we caught the Brown free ride bus to the Gondola/station stop. Go to the right of the “gondola building”. No ticket purchase needed. Line moved quickly. Get off on the 3rd (last stop). This puts you at the lifts and restaurants and shops at the Peak 8 base area. We went up, nice scenery of expensive houses on the way up…walked around, ate lunch at Tbar then we went down via gondola but our twenty something aged kids went back to Village at Breckenridge via lifts, skiing and snowboarding. Great way to see/experience a different peak/lift area!

The gondola is free but parking is $10 which honestly is nothing when you consider resorts in Canada charging upwards of $60 CAD per person. When you’re at the top it’s a whole new world of fun - hotels, restaurants, food court, adventure parks, coaster and luge rides. I’d highly recommend a day up there.

This is my wife and mines sixth time to Breckenridge riding the gondola is always a fun and and peaceful time. We usually ride the gondolas two or three times during our week visits it's peaceful the view is spectacular. The Gondola is free to ride and takes you to peak eight which has multiple activities for families and children to include putt-putt golf and other fun activities.

This was a fun trip up the mountain. We got off at the top, walked around a little, and then returned to town. We paid the $12 parking fee, but I think there are places in town where you can catch the free shuttle and avoid the fee.

It is a ride in a gondola which goes about halfway up the mountain. It may be exciting if you have never rode a gondola before. We went in the summer so it was nice, but not spectacular. It is nice because it is free, but once you get to the top of where it goes, it is disappointing. It goes to Epic Discovery, which will cost you to go further up the mountain or to partake in any of the actives. We weren't interested in that and I was really expecting to go to the top of the mountain. We basically just turned around and went back down.

How easy/accessible is it for someone using a cane to get on/off the gondola? Looking at coming up but with have my 78yr old mother with me.

The gondola ride is lovely and a great way to see some scenery. Plus it is free. Your Mom will have to walk a little way to access the Gondola from the street where the shuttle drop off is located. After you get to the Gondola, it is all about timing. It reminds me of getting on a moving sidewalk at the airport. If your Mom can do that she should be fine on the Gondola.

Planning on a visit to Breckenridge during the 3rd week of September 2020. Any information on the gondola hours or if it will even be running at all that late after Labor Day? Thanks for the help!!

The Gondola runs year round, aside from the Coronavirus. They have not posted the summer hours yet, but rest assured that normally you would be able to go up as there are restaurants and Breckenridge uses it as a revenue stream in the summer.
Are there big lines to take the gondola in January?. If I am taking a lesson in peak 8 how many minutes
/hrs in advance shall I be at the gondola station?

Hello, it depends on which day you are going and at what time. During the weekends, I would get there at least 30-45 minutes early. On a Tuesday, Wednesday, I would get there 15-30 minutes early. Hope this helps!

Breckenridge gondola is free. Keystone gondola you have to pay. Is Keystone worth paying for or does Breckenridge get the job done with great views...and for free...?

Hi there- the Gondola in Breck is fantastic. If you want the best of all- then take the Gondola to the 3rd stop which is Peak 8 base. Then pay to take the chair lift all the way to the top of the peak- you can either walk down in the summer or take the chair back to the base of peak 8 and then the gondola down. Be sure to watch for moose on the way up and down on the gondola. You can also walk down in the summer from the base of peak 8- ask to go on the 4 oclock trail. and stop and see the fairy forest on the way.
What is the elevation at the top?

The top of the Gondola on Peak 8 is right around 10,000 feet. The ski lifts in the resort go much higher.

Do you have to pay for parking in middle August when you ride the free gondola?

Gondola is free in the summer and winter. Parking everywhere will cost. Once you park be sure and take the free buses around town. You won’t end up paying to park multiple times.
