What a great morning and fun balloon ride with the largest balloon in the U.S. First, the flight had to be delayed due to high winds aloft, but safety is the number one priority. After waiting a bit they were able to quickly inflate the huge balloon and get the 16 of us passengers aboard, all wearing masks. We also had a film crew and host from The Weather Channel recording a show to air in November. It was fun to watch them as our pilot and owner Eric describe the beautiful scenery around us as we floated above the mountain plateau. The crew was very friendly from the moment we arrived until after the sumptuous breakfast following the flight. It was a lot of fun.

My wife and I wanted to go in our very first hot air balloon ride for our anniversary and we are so glad we did. The staff was friendly. The pilot was tremendously knowledgeable, and fun to be around. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to go hot air ballooning money well spent. We can not wait to go again ❤

Booked a trip with Eric and crew with our family friend and two kids (5&8) and had an amazing time! We arrived a bit early and we’re greeted with coffee/hot cocoa and snacks. It was a little chilly out and they’d set up a small heater for everyone to keep warm while we watched the balloon inflate. As someone who was a bit nervous to take her kids (and let’s me honest...myself) up into a hot air balloon, Eric was great. We delayed a bit due to wind which was reassuring from a safety standpoint as he explained everything he was considering and why he made the decision to wait. The basket was huge (18 in our group) and felt really stable when we were in the air. The views were incredible and Eric kept everyone entertained with stories. Upon landing he warned us that it would be a little bumpy due to increased wind but we had a single jolt before the crew muscled the basket back down. They let the kids help deflate the last of the balloon on the crate before we headed back to the launch site in their vans. The breakfast, mimosas, and stories after were icing on the cake. Would highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for amazing views and lots of laughs!

Worth the early start even for our teen sons! Eric and the team were great and the whole trip was very professional so we felt in good hands having never been in a hot air balloon before. There was about 16 people in our group, the basket divided into 4 plus the section Eric piloted from. Eric happily explained how the balloon worked, what all the ropes were for and our altitude during the flight as well as all about the view we had. The breakfast afterwards was just icing on the cake!
Worth mentioning (as I couldn't find info on any other review), there are portable toilets at the launch site but no running water just hand sanitizer.

We booked this ballooning trip for my birthday and it was such a fun adventure! I’m moderately nervous of heights and it didn’t bother me for a second. Landings are at the mercy of the wind and terrain and even with a “fun landing” (bumpy, tipped over, drug a few yards) we were well prepared and laughing as we climbed out if the basket.
Tips:
1. It’ll be hotter than you think! I wore 4 layers and had to peel off 2, which was tough in the limited space
2. I highly recommend taking the van, we learned more from Squach, our driver, on the way to the launch site than from any other source on our Colorado trip!

The balloon ride was a wonderful addition to our long weekend in Colorado. As someone who is scared of heights, I was pleasantly surprised I was not afraid at all!! No clammy hands at all. Eric and his crew were so nice and full of information. We also enjoyed the "landing part" where we were greeted by goats and then helped roll up the balloon. Learning hot air balloon history and a champagne toast just added a special touch to the morning. Highly recommend!

I want to join others in highly recommending this balloon ride. Eric and his team are incredible. Safety is obviously the top priority, but they also make it fun. There are beverages and snacks waiting for you when you arrive and watch the balloon being filled. Chai greets you and answers questions and gives information about the balloon. The balloon is absolutely amazing. Much bigger than I expected. Eric, the owner and pilot, lets you know what to expect and puts you totally at ease. He makes the ride fun and educational. Being able to help with the balloon after landing was a bonus. Then back to a wonderful breakfast with french toast, hash browns cooked to perfection, eggs, bacon, and mimosas. I felt a little guilty that the whole staff was waiting on us, but it was great to chat with all of them. We also enjoyed meeting Bo and Shiloh, the resident dogs. This is definitely something you should do.

I recently moved to Colorado and had a week off to spend in the mountains when we found Colorado Balloon Rides through trip advisor. Myself, my brother and his wife all took part in the balloon ride and had an absolute BLAST. They team was extremely professional and fun. They had coffee ready for us when we got to the launch site (essential because the rides occur pretty early). We had about an hour in the air and got a birds eye view of the region. We landed soft as a feather in a field where we were bussed back to the launch site and had a fantastic breakfast of bacon/ eggs/ hash browns/ french toast/ mimosas. Overall it was one of our favorite parts of the trip and we recommend Colorado Balloon Rides to everyone!

We had an amazing day with Pilot Eric and crew! From the start when we were picked up, we got so much information from our driver, then upon arrival at the launch site Chai had snacks and coffee ready to go. Captain Eric came over to explain everything and gave so much info about the wind and how it works. The flight was PERFECT and it felt like you were just floating, which we were! Eric gave lots of info about the flight and the area.
When we landed we got to help with packing up the balloon which was great then returned for 🍾 toast and history on 🎈! No matter the price r his trip was worth it!

We were fortunate enough to book our hot air ballon ride with Eric and his crew in May 2021. We were greeted by Chai with snacks and hot beverages.
Eric the owner and our pilot is extremely knowledgable and has many years of experience. Safety is for sure at the top of his list...we waited a little longer to take off until he felt better about the wind speeds.
Eric was very engaging and funny and knowledgable about the area and the distant mountain ranges!
After the ride we were able to assist with packing the balloon which was great! After that we headed back for an amazing breakfast of eggs, bacon, french toast and the traditional champagne (or orange juice) toast.
Overall a great day and we would highly recommend Eric and his team!!

How is the air quality. We are hearing it is very hazy due to the fires. Were the views obstructed due to the smoke?
Written August 21, 2018
The mountain views were a bit obstructed however the sunrise was outstanding because of the haze. We did not hear anyone complain about the haze and once we were flying in the air didn't even consider it as an issue. If you have health issues because of the haze I would postpone until you have the all clear. It was beautiful!

I don't know if there is a minimum and maximum weight limit. I think they ask for weights so they can fill the basket accordingly. We had 13 people in our basket.
Written August 10, 2016
There are no weight restrictions. They will ask for your weight and they will fill the balloon ride until the total weight capacity is met. When we went, there were 11 people total in the balloon.

Do you have winter flights (January 2017)?
We are a family of 4 adults.
Best regards

Colorado Hot Air Balloon Rides has the 2016 flight season listed as May 14 - October 30, dependent upon daily weather conditions of course. I notice you are from Costa Rica, where you are accustomed to more of a dry season vs. a wet season. Here in the USA, our weather is quite different from season to season, in many ways. Winter months in Colorado (which include January) are not conducive for hot air ballooning, so there will be no Colorado hot air balloon flights in January 2017.

I am staying in Dillion in August. How could we go about making reservations and ensuring that the weather cooperates?
Written June 2, 2016
You can make reservations on their website. They have a discount code. Nobody can ensure weather cooperates. However, they provide full refund or reschedule in case conditions are not appropriate. Do want to remember that flights leave 6:30am.
