If you were lucky as we were it's possible to see Mountain Goats right in the parking lot! The trail would be lovely but we only followed it a short distance as my goal was only to try to see the goats.

We decided last minute to do this hike. My husband, and two kids (boy 11 and girl 13) drove up to the top (second lake) in our Honda Pilot after stopping at the first lake to take some pictures. We were being wimps about crossing...More

We spent most of the day here. We saw two Moose in the morning around 10:00 am down near the lower lake. We saw many goats though they were higher up. Two moms and their babies came down in the afternoon. Two were on the...More

We went up to the top via car. It's a bit scary going up but breathtaking. Once up there take the gravel road (via foot) that looks like a road over the dam. At the end is a trail on the other side of the...More

We hiked to the waterfall. As of Jule 1st there was still quite a bit of snow on the trail. We made it through ok, then had to find the way to the waterfall but it was worth it. The waterfall is easy to climb...More

Take the time to drive up this road. Start listening for the creek on the left side and then stop when you hear the falls. It's beautiful. You'll notice some mine ruins halfway up the mountain to the left. Despite being the third day of...More

We drove up to the blue lakes one morning after it had snowed. Views were so beautiful. We hiked around and saw some marmots, chipmunks, and some pikas, but unfortunately, no mountain goats. It was definitely worth the drive down the unpaved road.

Fairly easy drive, on a decent dirt road. 4wd is not required. The lower lake is a nice view in the valley. The upper lake isn't worth the one lane dirt road up to it, in my opinion. Drive-able up to the lake with a...More

I do not know, but I very much doubt it. It is in Monte Cristo Gulch, and most gulches in this part of the Rockies do not have cell service.

We were there on a weekday in late July around noon. There were no goats. If you are already in Breck, this is a short drive off the highway, so you might check. It is hard to tell when they will show up. If you are... More
