Great for running while in Boulder with multiple entry points leading to Boulder River Canyon. Lots of bikers, however, to contend with and there has been a noticeable proliferation of homeless camps on the trail. Otherwise, it's a clean, well laid out concrete and asphalt trail that is generally wooded alongside the creek and punches into the city every now and then for access and goes underneath major roads for continuity.

A bit crowded for during a pandemic, but a lovely place to enjoy nature at a slow pace. Multi- use paths are shared by walkers, runners and cyclists. There’s also a dirt or gravel path for those carrying tubes. The area is well shaded and it’s a fine place for gatherings. There are ponds for those hoping to catch fish and rapids for those wanting a thrill. Plenty of trees for your hammocks and grass for your picnics. Bathrooms are scattered around, as are compost, recycle, landfill bins. There was a well- orchestrated farmers market and live music could be heard from a nearby venue. Many people seem to be living in tented communities near the creek. I saw nothing but positive interactions between everyone I encountered.

Beautiful. I went on a Saturday morning and was early enough (9 or 10ish?) that it wasn't too crowded yet. There's a path for bikes and one for walking, which I took. A couple of homeless people, but not many and as a single woman walking alone I felt safe. From there I went to the farmer's market, which was great! Then on to Pearl street. By then it was crowded and too busy for me. Highly recommend! Next time I'd want to rent a bike and ride the entire path.

Driving near by won't do any justice to the experience you'll be missing. A beautiful stroll takes less than 40 minutes. Start at the east end, near the CU campus, wind through downtown, and end up at the park on the west end (which is perfect for dipping your toes in the water, sun bathing or having a picnic. Continue further, where the picturesque bridges and wild flora give way to increasingly steep rock croppings and Boulder Falls.

Boulder is a chic town at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The Boulder Creek Multi-Use path is great for a walk, bike ride…or whatever means you prefer. Just a couple blocks from Boulder Creek is Pearl Street and the Pearl Street Mall where you will find an abundant selection of restaurants and shops…or a good place to sit and people-watch. Our stay was short so we enjoyed only a small sampling of all Boulder has to offer.

for the outdoors lovers, the Boulder Creek trail is amazing. A 10+ mile paved trail (one way). The entire path is paved and extends far west into the mountain pass, and then east out to a series of parks. It has both bike lanes and walking/running.
Going west (from 26th street), the trail has a very steady 350 foot elevation gain all the way to the end (where the trail goes under 119 and becomes a dirt trail).
Please note: this path is well used by locals and CU Boulder students. That being said, homeless people abound, especially under the street bridges and in a few homeless parks (in tents) in the western area.
The path is plowed in the winter (and before 0700).

Boulder creek is beautiful, and a path runs along it to downtown. We walked it a couple of times, but the number of homeless/vagrant people and their stuff along the path is alarming. There was also lots of garbage. I would not recommend walking it alone or at night.

We rented inner tubes from Whitewater Tubing Company, and took a ride down Boulder Creek. So much fun! The daily rental was minimal. We tubed down a several times, then walked the path back. I highly recommend it!

The Boulder bike paths are were all the homeless hang out. And I mean a lot. Avoid these bike paths. During the night they sleep there and during the daylight they are drunk and fighting. Lots of them have dogs which dart out in front of the bikes.

Are there water fountains along the creek path?
Written March 18, 2017
I only recall one fountain on the path. Most people carry their own bottled water or fill up a bottle with water. This is important if you're coming from low altitude. The climate is semi-arid and the altitude around 6,000 ft. If not acclimatized, you need to stay hydrated or you may faint or worse, get altitude sickness. Friends of mine from out-of-state and the UK have been stricken. Also use sunblock and plenty of moisturizer.

Hi! Thinking of taking the path for a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon (3/7). I'm guessing that snow has been cleared... Do you think kids (8-13) on scooters is OK?
Thanks for any info!
Written March 6, 2015
Bike use it, so I would think scooters would be okay unless they are motorized.
