Beautiful walks from this area but gets very busy quickly.
We enjoyed a couple of hours here on a Sunday morning. We arrived early and paid to park near the ranger station. By 9am this area was pretty full and remained so throughout the day. People park all along Baseline Road and the surrounding streets. All walks from the parking lot are steep. There were lots of people carrying climbing gear. We did a nice loop towards the Flatirons, along the base and back to the parking lot.

    Great Climb!
This was a gorgeous hike and hits lots of terrain. Nice trails to start, lots of people enjoying the lower fielded area, then you start a trek up (you don’t have to there is a lower loop). It is up. Mind your footing. Definitely some edges. Wouldn’t take small kids. Dog friendly.

Wonderful attraction in Boulder to get you appetite level up though some moderate hiking.
Very Photogenic scenery with almost a vertical uplifting if surface rock through plate movement. The area has many hiking trails, but remember to drink enough water - if you are thirsty, it's too late. Trails are mildly uphill and well worn. Bring sticks if you have them. We additionally toured the Chautauqua homes which are historic bungalows. Some have been restored and are lived in 100%. Don't miss the activities in July at the Chautauqua Barn including musical festival all month.

This picture is of the Flatirons, not Chautauqua Park. That said, they're neighbors. The Chautauqua Music hall is the premier part of the park where one can dine, hike, or just enjoy the serenity of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder.

So, hiking to see the Flatirons can be confusing for a first time visitor. The views of the Flatirons from Chautauqua Park are amazing and easy to get to. The easiest trail is the Bluebell Road trail, also called the Bluebell Hiking trail. It is part of the Chautauqua Loop trail. Taking the Bluebell for the first 1 mile gets you all the way to the point where the Flatirons Loop and the Royal Arch trails start. This is as far as we went due to snow and mud - we simply turned around and went back down. Had we continued the loop there was considerable mud ahead per reports from fellow hikers coming from that way The part we hiked was wide, mostly free of snow (there was maybe 2 inches on the grass), and in good shape (paved). There is a significant but steady incline going up.

The views of the Flatirons going up are absolutely stunning. Coming down you get great views of Boulder. Highly recommended.

What a fun hike with some great choices of trails that are well marked with maps. We hiked for 2 hours, but just couldn’t make it to the Royal Arches because of the icy incline. I was so very thankful that I had splurged on 60$ trekking poles and some new boots for this hike. Best purchases ever! I love the vibe you get on these trails- people are everywhere, happy, and enjoying nature’s beauty!

Parked here to hike the Flatirons one day midweek. The area is beautiful and the historic homes adjacent to the open spaces were adorable. Parking was free after Labor Day and there was additional paid street parking by the entrance.

We attended the Graham Nash concert, the first concert of his tour, and 15 minutes before the show the power went out in the entire park. The concert went on but with LED candles lighting the stage and no mic. Not even a Mr. Microphone! We could mostly hear the music, which was acoustic, but not the great stories he told between and whoever recorded the concert and loaded it on YouTube skipped most of the stories and taped only the music! Leaving the park was a nightmare as there were no lights and no one to help the mostly Boomers in attendance to the parking area. Even worse there was a wedding reception midway through in the dining hall and they were screwed too! We were told the entire area was blacked out however when we drove out we realized only the park was affected. We had one chance to see Graham Nash and we really did not. Shame on the park for not having a generator or a Mr. Microphone.

Clear skies and perfect weather to hike this park. We were able to enjoy the hike with not so crowded area. The Trees were so green and meadows were autumn dry. The parking was kind hard you have to wait for someone to leave. Bring water when hilling because of high elevation .
On top you will see overlooking Boulder City

If you go to boulder this is a necessity as the Flatirons make Boulder Boulder. Area has plenty of parking and a ranger station to learn about the area. Trail is only a mile or so outside the city so it is easy to accomplish during a visit. While we were there parking was free as well. Just Beautiful.

The lack of a chair in a sleeping room, even after I asked because of a mobility disability, will keep our family from staying again. We had 2 rooms. It will also be reflected in any review regarding not only having none but then not being given one so that I could dress independently. I made it clear that I could not independently dress without the aid of a chair, ANY chair. I was told , "We will check", then, "no chair available". That was obviously Not True. There were chairs everywhere, just not in my room. Chairs in all public areas, chairs in maintenance, multiple chairs near my room in a communal area. There is no excuse, whatsoever. I assume that as a historical building you are not required to follow ADA but to NOT even have a few shower chairs to loan or loan a chair that was necessary is beyond unacceptable. If you are not required to be ADA compliant, that is very different from making no easy and reasonable effort: In fact No Effort. We all know you could have gotten a chair from anywhere, even the communal areas of Columbine. Even on the floor outside my room. I could not lift it, it was there, but was told none available and none would be provided. Again no excuse. To not do so was beyond poor customer service. To not do this simple thing for a disabled person is/was shameful. No person with any even minor disability should ever consider staying here. To lazily do nothing, even something easy and that you are able to do, is despicable.

We took the bus to 9th street and walked the remaining half mile to the park. Big parking lot, toilets (in the now closed ranger station) and a cute convenience store where you can buy drinks and snacks or just some nice souvenirs. It was a sunny Saturday and a lot of people were out, yet it didn't feel too crowded. Since one in our little party wasn't a hiker, we opted for the Green Route but I will definitely come back for the longer and steeper hikes! Beautiful area with a great overlook over the entire downtown Boulder.

Chautauqua is so beautiful. The hiking was engaging with great views. The parking is limited. There is a parking fee in the summer, but there is also a shuttle that will take you here during summertime. Park rangers are friendly. There is a little info house with animal displays and extra info.
