Tip ... try a weekday; avoiding the masses is well worth a day off work and school. Beautiful trails ... some mud in late May 2017, so go prepared with proper footwear. Upper third of Flatirons trail is temporarily closed due to raptor nesting and...More

One of most picturesque parks in Boulder, always crowded, especially during weekends, hard to find parking spot. A must see Boulder attraction. Many great hiking trails start there.

We came here the day after a blizzard which made it extra challenging with all the snow. I thought the trails could have been marked better, but maybe without the snow it would have been easier to see. Great views though and a wide variety...More

Lots of locals and visitors hiking the trails. There is one trail that is partially paved. The rest are your typical mountain hiking trails. There is not a lot of shade on quite a few, so bring water and sunscreen. After a rain, it can...More

Chautauqua Park is a very family friendly setting with dogs being welcome. Spent a lovely afternoon relaxing and enjoying the spring weather. Good access and parking right on the edge of the park- with restaurants and shops nearby. Highly recommend for a lazy afternoon or...More

Everyone and their mother loves to come here, and for a good reason. If you'd like to check it out and hike here, I would recommend a weekday, and fairly early in the morning. Weekends are extremely crowded, especially around 11 AM.

I stayed at one of the cottages in the park and it was comfortable, peaceful and very enjoyable. The park has nearby trails for early morning hikes and plenty of wildlife to see out your window.

No, it's about a mile to the top of the flatirons: google "Chautauqua trailhead' and you can find a map with distances. I walked this last Saturday, and it was icy. I wore crampons but many people braved it in sneakers... More

I believe you can sled on the land to the west of the Chautauqua Meadow Trail. But you'd better check with the city to make sure it's OK as they are very protective of their open space.
