We parked on Baseline & walked a path into the park. Beware of the sun, come prepared w/ sunblock, a hat & water! Slow go up steep terrain but ultimately these are great hikes to fantastic views of Boulder & even into Denver!

I've hiked Chautauqua a few times on a few trips and I always enjoy it. The loop trails are good for beginners and offer some cool views of Boulder, the plains east of the Flatirons, and the Flatirons itself. My brother and I recently did the Royal Arch trail, which was definitely a bit more difficult and rather steep, but... More

Chautauqua park lies at the base of the Boulder Flatirons. It is a not to be missed destination during any visit to Boulder. There are abundant hiking and climbing opportunities, as well as a whole host of other activities to be found. There is a theater wich regularly host musical events, as well as a lovely restaurant.

We did the Royal Arch trail - a good workout with a big payoff. The hike itself is a little over 3 miles but is fairly strenuous especially at the end. Don't let that put you off though - the payoff is an amazing rock arch which opens up to a beautiful view of Boulder and surrounding area. Some tips... More

This place gets filled quickly with few places to park so go early. The trails are awesome and tough. But there are some built in railroad ties to help you out making your way up the trails.

Chautauqua is a high point in Boulder, literally, and provides nice views of both the city to the East and the Flatirons to the West. There are trails leading off from here, and a fine eating.

It's an amazing view from the top of Flatirons 1 & 2. An energetic hike from the Ranger station to the top will take you a about 1.5 hrs if your in Avg shape. Go early if you're visiting during the hot summer months, leave the Ranger station by 9 ish. Parking can also be difficult as it's a popular... More

Plenty of options for the very active. Beautiful scenery. Choice of 2,3 and 4 mile trails. Being from the east coast, this is definite a place I will come back to!

Royal Arch trail leads up to an arching rock formation to the left of the third flatiron. You need to start at the entrance of Chatauqua and take one of a few combinations of trails to get to it, but the splits are well marked and the trail itself is clearly labeled. Some offshoots and areas are closed for the... More

Breakfast, lunch on the lovely porch can't be beat. Historic building, lots of flowering plants in a lovely park-like setting. Can be busy in summer, but the wait is worth it.
