Colorado River Guides has been a small, locally owned family rafting company for over 30 years. We have raised out family on the rivers surrounding Steamboat and would love the opportunity to share this experience with you! After asking a very patient Chelsea several questions before booking, we decided on a private half-day trip for our friends and family. Chelsea was accommodating at moving the time out on our private trip due to a participant's scheduling conflict.
The drive down to Bond from Steamboat Springs was easy and pretty, and Chelsea let us know when cell service would be lost.
Getting picked up at the boat ramp was a breeze, and soon we were on the river with Paul, the trusty guide with plenty of funny dad jokes, and Jenny, dog and keeper of the sticks. We used two Duckies in addition to the raft the entire time, and Paul was very flexible with beach breaks and people moving from Duckie to raft to Duckie. Paul was knowledgeable about the route and its history. At one point, he said that the Amtrak train should be coming by at any minute, and less than 30 seconds later, there was the Amtrak. We saw an eagle standing guard over its nest of eaglets even!
The Colorado River was mild enough for our kids but had enough small rapids to keep them entertained. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you, Colorado River Guides!

This review means the world to us! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We also really appreciate that you & your group chose to spend the day on the Colorado River with us! The baby eagles are getting so big now, they wont be babies for that much longer! Its been such a treat watching them grow up this year. We hope to see y'all out on the river again soon!

Our half-day rafting trip with Colorado River Guides was everything we had hoped for and more! Paul and his team are incredible! They go above and beyond in every way to make sure the experience is seamless, fun and enjoyable for all. This was the first rafting trip for our family of 4 (kids ages 9 & 12) and we all had a blast!! 2 of us stayed in the main raft for a smoother ride while two went out in one of the duckies (inflatable kayak) for a little more adventure/splashing. Definitely recommend the duckies! Jenny the dog led the way and everyone had a ball watching her. Highly recommend this trip for families of all ages!!!

We were multiple families with kids ranging in ages between 7-15. The trip and moreover CRG were a great fit for our group. Paul was an excellent guide, and Jenny the river-dog guide, was a fantastic addition to the fun. The whole experience from the front office on the booking side to the actual trip, was stress free and easy. The rafting itself, at least this time of year, was pretty chill, but again well suited for the younger kids in our group. Def recommend taking the "duckies", inflatable kayaks they offer (for no extra charge) for those looking for a bit more adventure. Thanks again to CRG for a very enjoyable morning on the Colorado River!

Our family had an amazing afternoon on the river! We were with two other groups with Paul and Dana as our guides. They were both fantastic and the whole process was smooth and organized. Highly recommend requesting the inflatable kayaks (duckies) - our two teenagers shared one and rode that the entire time. A memorable and fun time for our family!

We had a wonderful time on our rafting trip! We had two families and 4 kids aged 9-4 and it was perfect for us. Paul was so knowledgeable and friendly and made it really fun for the kids. Jenny the dog followed us the entire way and the kids had a ball watching her. Highly recommend this trip for any families with younger kids- it was safe, beautiful, and the perfect length of time (half day).

We vacationed in Steamboat Springs the last week of July 2021. We booked a half day raft trip. Chelsea was so kind on the phone and answered all my questions.
My husband and I and our 5 kids (ages 7-11) loved the experience. We were in a raft with Paul and took turns on the duckies. Paul was so easy going, knowledgeable, safe, and made it so fun for our kids. We loved watching his dag, Jenny, play in the river. I highly recommend Colorado River Guides! It was my kids favorite part of our vacation!

We had a great 1/2 day trip on the Colorado River. Chelsea was very responsive with booking/communication. Paul (the guide) and Chelsea were right on time waiting for us at the launch point. The Colorado was running gently, so it was a nice float in the raft and the "ducky" provided a bit more fun and excitement. Paul was a great guide, providing instructions for those paddling the ducky and giving some insight into the history of the area. One high point of the trip was having Paul's retriever Jenny escort us down the river, playfully running/swimming along the trip with her precious sticks.
If you are looking for a more adventurous trip, apparently the Eagle River runs swifter with some more white water. Our trip was chill.
The meeting point is an easy and scenic 1 hour drive from Steamboat.

The best part of this experience was being able to man our own duckie with Paul guiding the trip. Paul was extraordinarily knowledgeable of the area and a delight to guide us. His dog Jenny, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, made everyone feel like they had spent their childhood on the river with Paul.
Highly recommend this fun adventure for all ages!

We had a wonderful time with Dana from Colorado River Guides on a beautiful day on the Colorado. Just our party of four, a family of river otters, and a family of bald eagles. We never saw another boat or any more humans once we left the put in, which I know she totally arranged. The Duckies were a great way to get some individual experience and more refreshing wetness while following the lines recommended by an experienced guide in the main raft. This was just what we were looking for.

Our family of three had an amazing time on this half day rafting tour down the Colorado. It’s a family-owned business and the pride, expertise and passion for what they do shines through. Unlike other guide companies which put as many as twelve people on a raft, we had an intimate group of four plus our guide. This part of the Colorado River has several small, but exciting rapids, but mainly it is a peaceful float down a beautiful river with incredible scenery. Paul, our guide and the company owner, is very knowledgeable about the river and made our trip a lot of fun. So glad that they were able to accommodate us on a last-minute reservation and a highlight of our trip!
