This beautifully restored plantation house is well worth a visit. Get your tickets at the entrance and visit the stunning gardens with a variety of exotic plants. Take a stroll through the grand house and admire the antique furniture, beautiful rooms and verandah.
Lots of history in this place.
You can have a bite to eat in the restaurant on site. Lovely decor and good food. The only negative with lunch was that the prawn soup, big portion was tiny! with 2 prawns!!
There is also a rum and jam tasting. You can pick one rum and will taste 2 types of jam. Not exactly a large variety. This certainly could be improved.

Very Bridgerton with a twist of Mauritiuian culture and island vibe. An iconic mansion with history and beautiful estate. You can spot some amazing birds here and visit the museum. Try the rum tasting and definitely get many nice pictures clicked.

The Chateau is an old plantation house in attractive grounds with many old trees. The house has been completely renovated and provides an excellent example of Mauritian architectural history. There is also a very interesting video presentation showing how the house was renovated as it appears it was close to collapse before the renovation was undertaken.
Attached to the house is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the house’s grounds. The food there was excellent, the service is excellent and the price very reasonable. It gave us one of our best days in Mauritius.

Chateau de Labourdonnais – absolutely wonderful place, beautiful garden, very well maintained and looked after. A lot of good informative signs by each special piece on display in the mansion.

A lovely lady greeted me and nearly fell over, when I said, I am Danish, like the Christian Wiehe, who build the mansion.

It is the only place I visited, which runs a really professional clean and nice shop, and the restaurant is something else. I will definitely go back next year. Just to enjoy the garden, the shop and especially the restaurant, possible an afternoon incl. a dinner.

The toilets are clean, hand wash facilities perfect, and they check and clean them every hour – important.

It's a beautiful place to visit. The Chateau is beautifully restored, and surrounded by a magnificent garden. The restaurant is very welcoming. The staff couldn't have been more polite. The food and the service are excellent. The quaint little shop has a lot of goodies to offer, and the rhum sampling is adequate. Overall a peaceful experience.

Was there with family and friends for a reception and it was wonderful. The parking is rather far if you come by car, but the walk in good weather is quite nice.
The premise are delightful. The food is excellent and well served too, but at a leisurely pace.

A really good tourist experience in Mapou. Has history and is a well restored to highlight the Mauritian history. Fine maintained gardens and a rum tasting at the end, very special. Make sure you arrange a driver to fully enjoy the tasting

Original and breathtaking mansion and impressive gardens. The architecture of this traditional sugar can plantation mansion with its "varangue" (large balconies surrounds the house) is terribly romantic. Great inside decorations with old furniture and tapestry. An invitation to discover more about the history go the "ile de France", the previous name of Mauritius island.
We did not feel like leaving the mansion and felt like being in a movie...
The visit will finish with a rhum and fruit jelly (pate de fruit) tasting, at the bar of the "La Table du Chateau" restaurant. Since I was driving, no rhum for me, but 2 large glasses of delicious fresh made guava juice. My wife tasting the local rhum as well as a selection of "rhums arrangés" (flavoured rhums). This decided us to buy 2 bottles to bring back home.
We also took the opportunity to check the mouth watering menu of the restaurant and decided to come back for diner on the next day.

Impressive grounds, gardens and old house named a chateau. Nice architecture, great inside decorations, old furniture, tapestry. Worth watching the film describing the history and renovation project. Poor guidance around. Too bad the entrance ticket include also a rum degustation.
