Hidden Gem.......best of both worlds....water and mountains! Loved watching the sailboats on the lake. Nice quiet campground with very few people nearby. Lovely view of the sunrise and sunset. Can get a bit breezy at times though!

Huge lake in a beautiful setting. Has Camping - caravan or tents, lots of boating, Stand Up Paddle Boards and kayaks. Swim beach is very small but good for small kids. We rented two SUPs and 2 Kayaks - reasonable price and friendly staff. Lake...More

I love the clean water and the beautiful mountain scenery. It is now the end of August and the water is getting pretty low. My only complaint is that people are allowed to just hang out on the dock for the entire day. Yesterday, I...More

It's so fun to be able to relax on a beach surrounded by foothills and pine trees! The beach slopes so sometimes you have to figure out a plan for chairs though

We love boating at Carter. It can be crowded on the weekend but much better during the week. Watch out for bike riders on the road up. Bring water and snacks as the marina is expensive.
