Such a refreshing place to relax and wonder around tucked away within easy access and short walk from public transport.
I walked along thw Yarra trail and wondered around through the farm into the main compound. There arw several dining options taking care of varying tastes and budgets which were all very busy. Lentil as Anyhthing serves delicious meals based on an open menu and seasonal produce. Convent Bakery serves delicious bread, pastries, sandwiches etc. and the farm cafe also offer picnic packs. You can wonder around the expansive gardens and relax in this wonderful oasis.

Enough have been said about the environment within the facility that I would like now to draw focus on the Yarra River which meanders along the boundary. It’s quiet with the occasional jogger and dog, an awesome escape from the hustle of urban life and reintegrates oneself back into nature. There are several photo opportunities along the way and unfortunately as this is my last few hours in Melbourne, could not fully appreciate the River. Will come again next trip.

In the past i was an exhibitor here 4 or 5 times and got to know the inside of the exhibition spaces. I always wanted to visit as a tourist and got the opportunity today. My wife and i spent about an hour perusing the grounds around the convent taking a leisurely stroll down to the Yarra river. This was just enough to whett our appetites for a future visit to do more of the walking trails which I'm sure will prove enticing.

We stopped by the convent for a walk around the grounds after visiting the Collingwood Children’s Farm next door.

My children ages 4 and 5 were fascinated with the old buildings and learning about what the convent was for. We went exploring and we read the plaques of what the different rooms were for.

There is also a lovely garden area that you can sit and relax and enjoy the sun or a lovely picnic. I definitely think this is a lovely place to come and see as it is filled with a wonderful and interesting history.

From the cafes, to the sounds of the band practicing to the well maintained architecture, the grounds of the convent transported visitors to a completely different Melbourne. I really enjoyed the serenity and history of the venue while sipping my skinny latte in hand.

Business

I had to attend professional development there today. My goodness it was truly awful. Why? 1. Looks like something from a horror movie inside. It’s dirty and tawdry. You expect some evil creature to just jump out at you. 2. Toilets. If you think you are going to need a toilet- don’t go there. There seemed to be only four female toilets available- the seats came off one, they stunk and by the end of the I’m pretty sure I was walking through urine. 3. Too pseudo trendy eco urbanite grow your own denim for me. Who are these people I never want to see again??? Stay away is my advice.

Thank you for your comments. I will pass these on to our venues and buildings teams, particularly concerning the condition of the bathrooms on the day of your visit. We always encourage visitors to provide feedback to our staff should they experience any issues so these can be addressed promptly. Since your visit in September, we have undertaken further works and maintenance in the Convent building restrooms (I assume these are the facilities you visited). The Convent is a non profit arts precinct and aims to be a safe and clean space for everyone. I am sorry to hear about your experience but we appreciate your candid feedback so that we can improve the precinct for the benefit of our visitors and community.

The best spot in the entire Australia! This place embraces so many diverse types of people together...Hobos, musicians, celebrities and every day man, families, students, international, local, sane and not sane - it gives you the best opportunity to jump into that social bubble and taste the best vegetarian/vegan food! Thumbs up to the Sri Lankan establisher! Great, delicious job!!!
