Have driven past this place for years but this is the first time i have ventured inside. They buildings are in various state of repair. We did a tour of the buildings so we got an idea of the history and usage of each building. Was an informative tour well worth the time. The surrounds encourage you to just wander... More

Hidden gem in Abbotsford, a great collection of venues from coffee and bakery to hidden bars on acres of grassed and gardened hills. If hunting for parking isn't your thing, park on the other side of the river and walk.. its a great adventure for the kids and a cold beer (or warm coffee) awaits. The venus contains some historic... An ideal venue for a family picnic in the beautifully manicured gardens. Several cafes to choose from with high quality food. Music on a Sunday morning market day at Lentil as Anything. Check their website for markets and other cultural activities. A wonderful space with a history.

I was happy to be able to show off this place to an out-of-town friend (an artist) who hadn't heard of it. We had a look in the bookshop and the gallery and then walked down thru the gardens to the paddocks holding livestock (sheep, goats) and followed the walking and cycling path around to the Children's Farm. A nice... More

Today we took the Social History Tour of the Abbotsford Convent. We have visited the convent on a number of occasions. However, we did not realise how much more there was to the site and the rich history the buildings have. On this tour we were able to access parts of the convent that are usually out of bounds for... Green spaces, leafy trees and old gardens circle the impressive Abbotsford Convent buildings with a view of the Children’s Farm and Yarra Trail ideal for strolling or cycling. My two-day workshop started Saturday morning and I expected to walk into a peaceful, almost monastic environment. The place was jumping. Market stalls, eateries, exhibitions, music, art galleries, displays, bookshop and more.... More
