We've skied at Beaver Creek many times and always have fun. This trip was no exception. The resort wasn't crowded and the skiing was very good. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The only downside was the incredibly expensive prices at the lodge for lunch. $24 for a sandwich and $13 for a cup of soup for mediocre food is ridiculous. The 2nd day we went to the Osprey Grill at the base of the Strawberry Park lift for lunch. The prices were lower, the food was much better and the atmosphere and service were excellent.

We drawn to Beaver Creek because of McCoy Park, a new area of green and a few blue for beginners. It was amazing. However, after skiing there three days I am left wondering about the safety of some of its glade features after seeing someone laying seriously injured from below while riding the lift and also due to some of our own experiences. It was clear the person below had run into a tree and was seriously injured. I myself fell into a tree well while riding down a trail between trees in the glades and one of my children also got stuck in a drift around a bush/scrub area. We are very cautious skiers. The glades are stunning and beautiful but I question whether introduction of so many glades for beginners is a good idea.

Beaver Creek is a hidden gem. Less well-known than its larger Epic Pass neighbors, Vail and Breckenridge, Beaver Creek is often overlooked despite having over 160 trails and 3,300 feet of vertical. Beaver Creek is a very accessible mountain, providing terrain options for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Best of all, the lift lines at Beaver Creek never seem to approach those of larger Colorado resorts. This means you spend more time skiing your favorite trails and less time waiting in line for them. And don't forget about the (free!) freshly baked chocolate chip cookies that arrive daily at 3pm at the base of the mountain. There is just something delightful about eating a warm cookie (or two) after a day on the slopes.
Beyond skiing, Beaver Creek punches above its weight in terms of the quantity and quality of other activities to enjoy. We highly recommend checking out the Vilar Performing Arts Center schedule to catch a concert or comedy show. Take a sleigh ride or snowshoe up to Allie’s Cabin for a delicious dinner on the mountain after the ski slopes have closed. Or, explore the art galleries and stores before visiting one of the many resort spas for some relaxation time. It is vacation after all!
Although there is not a huge selection of restaurants within the Beaver Creek Resort, we included some of our favorites below that will fit your palate and pocketbook. Beaver Creek has an active après scene, but quickly turns sleepy after the dinner crowd heads home. If you are looking for a bustling nightlife scene with bars that are busy into the late evening (and early morning), we would recommend a different resort.

Very icy! They opened early to make money and allow soft open for all the businesses. They forgot the main part which was snow. The powder was missing. Many people with busted needs and wrist. My son broke both his wrist on the kiddie slopes with simple landing backward while snowboarding. The ski patrol, er doc, ski school, rental shop, all agreed they should not have opened. Colorado law says ski at your own risk.

Spent 2 snowy days skiing in Beaver Creek and loved it. First time skiing outside of Europe and although there is less terrain so wouldn’t spent the whole week skiing in one area your ski pass covers many other resorts within an hours drive so would try out a few resorts. Beaver Creek is intermediates and beginners heaven so many runs to choice all varied from skiing down wide runs through to skiing through trees although several of the greens did need too much poling. I always thought I was a fair weather skier and have not enjoyed skiing whilst snowing in Europe but I actually enjoyed it here as visibility was good and the fresh powder was great on the well groomed slopes.
We were their UK half term and unlike Europe the lift queues were virtually none existence a few mins max. The Epicpass App is great to plan route.
We booked our son on the teenagers 2 full day advance ski school which is expensive but he’s too good to ski with us. The day before we received a strange email stating he could join kids or adults for half day but no mention of teens meet up so we tried calling to no success (not good service given how much you pay). When we arrived we were told there was no teens but could join adults or kids but still full day, as he’s 17 decided on the adults but when went to join the group told it was only level 6 which is below his level. Spoke to a different staff member who was great he said join kids advance group as is most likely to be older teens and if not or below his level they would sort out something suitable. It turned out to be 4 in the group all except one a similar age and the younger one was best in the group. Our son loved it they spent both day enjoying off piste, he was physically exhausted after each day but wanted to do it all again. Earlier in the week he enjoyed an advance adult lesson in Breckenridge and equally enjoyed that and the fact that was more geared to technique where as this was fun and challenging terrain.
Skiing in Colorado is way more expensive than Europe but we loved it and will definitely be back (hopefully next year).

Have been to BC a couple of times before but always only for a day or two. This time got a much better feel for the mountain after being there for 5 days. Didn't have much fresh snow to start but it snowed all day in midweek, enough to improve the conditions for the next few days on both groomed and ungroomed runs. BC is by far the best Colorado resort I've seen for beginners and intermediates, with an impressive selection of green trails of varying degrees of difficulty. The newly opened McCoy Park, which used to be a Nordic and snowshoe area has the easiest, wide open trails, followed by the area around the Red Buffalo lift, with the best tree skiing, and lastly the area between Bachelor Gulch and Arrow Bahn lifts with some more hilly and slightly steeper greens as well as many fairly standard but interesting blues. Although the ratio of black and double black trail are relatively low, there are still plenty of them here, concentrated in the Grouse Mountain area as well as interspersed in between many of the blues.
Due to Covid protocols restaurants on the mountain require vaccination proof to eat indoors (copies - digital or paper - of vax card are accepted). They'll give you a sticker to put on your pass so you won't have to carry the card after showing it the first time. Restaurants also require advance online reservations to eat indoors. However, on sunny days, it's warm enough and much nicer to just sit outside anyway.
One other thing, not necessarily just due to Covid - they no longer give out paper trail maps anymore. Of course you can get it online but it's much less convenient. So if you have an old paper map don't throw it out - most of the info are he same except for details in McCoy park since it's new. You might also check with the ski patrol staff who might still have some old paper maps around.

We skied here midweek since Beaver Creek is on our Epic pass. Conditions varied from hardpack one day to powder the next and we enjoyed ourselves the entire time. We encountered no lines, friendly employees, and a tremendous amount of blue and green terrain for folks to spread out.
Having so much beginner terrain up high is really nice compared to resorts where the learning area is a throughway for skiers of all levels heading to the bottom of the mountain. Definitely something to consider, along with the fact that every lift is high speed which means more time skiing and less time sitting in the cold. We covered nearly 20k feet of vertical in just over two hours, which is much more than what you might get in a day at other resorts when there's long lines and busy slopes.
For a family ski vacation, this place is hard to beat.

We had heard it was over priced but wow. We have been to many ski resorts out west and this one was by far the most expensive. Which might be okay if it was that much better skiing or community but it was not.
And the monopoly on ski lessons is shameful. We stayed on the mountain in Arrowhead which was wonderful and quiet but clearly neglected by beaver creek. Trails and lifts not open and no attempt to remedy this during the entire week where it should have been open for ski in ski out. Now they will claim covid and staffing shortages but clearly they had plenty open at the BC village. There were some beautiful trails and the view from the top is great. But we will never go again. I think there are many better options.

1st time visitor, were is the best place to park, do they have parking close to the village?
Dennis L

There is limited parking at the Arrowhead Village, and it's free so it fills up very quickly. Bear and Elk lots are $10, or free after 1PM. Buses run to Beaver Creek Landing and up to the base of the Centennial Lift in BC Village. I believe parking up there is $35, but we never did that. Our best experience: Park in Bear, short bus ride to Beaver Creek Landing -- lifts and runs to everywhere. Finish with "Leave the Beav" right back to Beaver Creek Landing -- short bus ride to Bear parking.
do they have a ski in/ski out lodge on green runs for new skiers?

I'm not sure, the town area has some nice shops, however we have a nine and ten year old so we weren't looking for toddler-related things to do. I suspect that there may be some sledding or other activities for smaller kids.

Try to avoid the busy times! The fewer the people the better the experience. I like to ski on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursdays. Or, just early in the day. As soon as the lifts open until 11:00 am. Most of the crowd start to hit at 10:00 - 4 pm.

First time trip to Beaver Creek, and we will stay at Charter at Beaver Creek. What is the best way (most economic way) for renting skis and buying lift tickets? Online? On site? Which company? Thank you in advance for your attention.

For lift tickets. I would suggest that you go to the EPIC website to find the best package for you and your family.
As for ski rentals. First rule is to rent before you go (online) as you will get better pricing. ---Rentskis--" is where we went and they were great to work with. Next point is ... The closer you are to the slopes you will pay slightly more. The trade-off is that you will be carting the skies to and from the store. The good part of ---rentskis--- is that you can exchange equipment, if needed, and able to return the skis after your last run. I find the best way to control cost with skis is in not picking the "top" packages. We usually rent the "middle" package and had no problems with the comfort of the boots and sharpness of the skis.

It’s not posted online but what is the lift ticket price for the Buckaroo ski lift?
Liam Carden
Hinsdale, IL6 contributions
You can’t just buy a ticket for one lift. You will need to buy a full pass. Then you will have access to all of the lifts.
We are Floridians and don't know how to ski, but my son and his family want to show his kids snow. Other than skiing what else is there to do at Beaver Creek? Is there snowmobiling, sleigh rides? would there be enough activities to keep us busy for a whole week? All I see is skiing and snowboarding, which will be great for my son and his wife-but not the rest of us. My grandchildren will be 4 and 2 when we plan to make this trip next family.
