Based on my experience i would say that this was the best hot air ballooning experience in Napa. The ground staff who helped us Brenda is very courteous. Our pilot Pete was amazing in explaining piloting of a hot air balloon while showing incredible views of Napa valley. The flight was 2 hours (normally its 45mins) long due to fact that there was no landing sites nearby and the weather that morning that worked in our favor an gave us extra time to soak up the views. Overall i would definitely recommend this experience with Napa Valley Aloft Hot Air Balloon Rides if you are visiting Napa.

Our party of 6 had a beautiful morning with Captain Justin and the ALoft team! We spent a bit over an hour floating over the valley as the sun rose and the fog tried to drift in around us. A light coffee and pastry breakfast awaited us at our 5:30 call time, and after waivers and briefings we made our way over to the balloons to watch them inflate and the hop in our baskets! A once in a lifetime experience for sure. The entire crew was amazing, tracking us through fields and roads as the wind eventually took us to rest along Hwy 29. Would absolutely recommend Aloft and am so glad the weather participated with us and let us get up today!!

Wow! It’s worth the getting up early! Hard to imagine that they inflate and launch these huge balloons from a parking lot! It’s festive and exciting to see each balloon slowly rise then drift off with much cheering and excitement.
The views from over the valley are spectacular! Our pilot was fun and informative- calming the fears of the jittery in the bunch. A spot-on touch down and we we whisked- happy and glowing, back to our hotel. A must do!

What an amazing experience!! Aloft is the best! They are professionals and friendly, making sure that from booking to check out, from launch to landing and the flying experience were all easy and pure joy! Our pilot, Justin, was an expert is ballooning and shared his knowledge and expertise in flying and in the region we flew over!! We highly recommend Napa Valley Aloft Hot Air Balloon for your hot air balloon rides… you will love the people and the experience!!

What a way to kick off an elopement! The ground crew, pilot, and chase crew were at all times superb in serving all their clients this morning. Each of us felt safe and secure in the hands of our balloonist…who has over 38 years of experience piloting hot air balloons all over the world! Don’t hesitate to book an experience you’ll never forget ;-)

Today was the second time we flew with Aloft and choose them based on our first flight with them. Extremely efficient operation from initial on-line reservation to check-in to pick up at the landing site! Our pilot with 38 years experience was terrific, pointing out landmarks and answering all questions about Napa Valley and the balloon operation. We are locals and quite familiar with the balloon operations, this group is the best!

Going up in a hot air balloon is one of the most exhilarating things you can do. The folks at Aloft run a good business, very streamlined. Show up, fill out your paperwork, and wait to get on your balloon. Keep in mind you're stepping into a large basket, you're not clipped in or attached to anything. That's a bit scary initially. But once you can get past that and you're 2,000 feet in the air it's pretty incredible! The folks at Aloft will ask if you want to tip your pilot, but after dropping $270 per person I was content with not tipping. No offence to the pilot, who was excellent and friendly, but I felt like they were taking advantage of us a bit by giving us that tip sheet.

This was one of the best experiences of my life. We got lucky with the weather as it was a bit foggy and no rain, so the scenery was beautiful.
We were picked up from our hotel at 6:30am, and arrived at the meeting location at 6:50am, they provided pastries, Madeline’s, breakfast bars, coffee and water while we all waited. They split us up into groups of about 12. Then waited while the balloons were being inflated. While we waited, the hostess took pictures for all of us. We went in late December and it was about 40 degrees: I had five layers of clothes and was still cold, so bundle up if you go in the winter! We took flight at about 7:45am. JP was our pilot. He was very knowledgeable and told us a bunch of interesting facts while we were in flight.
I get very bad motion sickness on planes and boats. I didn’t take anything for the ride and was completely fine. There was no turbulence at all.
We landed around 8:45am. By the time we got off the balloon and walked back to the van, it was about 9:20am and it took us 10 minutes to drive back to the original spot.
We paid for the breakfast. It was buffet style with eggs, potatoes, sausage, yogurt, and cookies. They also gave us mimosas. It was very good and the ambiance was very cute as it was in a shop right next to the meeting spot. Then we left at about 10:15AM.
JP was also our driver so we got to speak to him even more. He was very personable and seemed to know a lot about Napa and hot air balloons so it was great getting to talk with him.
It is quite expensive but I think it is very worth it, even for the price. I highly recommend this experience!

This was a fantastic trip. We booked it for our 30th wedding anniversary-it was my husband’s and my first trip in a hot air balloon. We really enjoyed having a bird’s eye view of Napa Valley. Our guide was very experienced and explained everything we were seeing below. It was also lovely to see the other balloons in the sky. The only annoying thing was the three women in the compartment next to us who wouldn’t stop talking, and who did not seem to be enjoying the experience or the view around them. Overall, it was not crowded in the balloon, and it was very enjoyable. I would say if you are on the fence about doing this, you should go ahead and do it. Some tips—you would think it’s going to be cold when you’re high up in elevation, but it’s actually quite warm in the balloon due to the hot air and the fire being used to inflate and fly the balloon. So wear layers. Pants and or shorts are a good option to ensure that when you get in and out of the basket that you don’t expose anything. Flat shoes or sneakers are also a good option to wear. We also appreciated having a pick up and drop off (reasonable extra cost) from our hotel so we didn’t have to worry about getting lost in the dark of the early morning (morning is apparently the best time to fly).

We had an amazing experience with the Aloft Napa Hot Air Balloon crew. They had a very organized operation and made everything in the process look smooth and easy. Very experience personnel. They were managing the groups well and were very attentive to each group needs. Our pilot Derek was wonderful and exceptional guide of the Yountville/Napa region. He made the ride very interesting and the landing was spectacular and smooth. Thank you, Derek and all the crew that made this a wonderful experience!

Does this company offer a step stool of sorts to enter and exit the basket?

Hi! I did not see anyone using a step stool, but on the side of the basket there are foot holes that you can use to help climb into the basket. I put a new picture of the basket/balloon up so hopefully you can see the foot holes.

I agree with Soleil122. Weather is the biggest factor. There were 3 balloons all sold out on June 25th. 12 people per balloon.
Absolutely loved this ride. It was a perfect day!

The balloon we were in was 90 minutes in the air. The other two balloons that took off right before us landed after about 75-80 minutes. It depends on weather conditions. We were up on a perfect day and could even see San Francisco! Just amazing!

Hello,
In the Napa Valley it is safest to fly the hot air balloons in the earlier hours of the morning, when both temperatures and wind speeds are appropriate for flight; you will find that hot air balloon companies in this area will fly around sunrise. Meeting times can vary, but for the large part of the summer we meet at 5:30am.
