So, I'm seriously all about a dive bar. I'm glad this place does exist. I had had enough of the snootiness of the fancy wineries and just wanted some whiskey. Maybe the problem was that I came in a skirt and looked too fancy? I'm not sure, but, even though we wanted to be around real people and don't act high-end at all, we were kind of treated like that. There were clearly only locals there, about 6 of them, and the bartender ignored us for almost 10 minutes until a local hinted to him to take our drink orders. I wanted a whiskey diet coke, but was told they don't have diet. They only had a 1/5th left of a 2 liter of Coke. So, no soda gun or diet... got it. We had a drink and watched the locals watch their local basketball team on TV, while no one was remotely interested in chatting with us. There were small fruit fly type bugs flying around my head all the time, and it was very smoky in there. We ordered food from the Mexican food truck outside and had decent food, but my stomach was all in knots that night. It seems like it may have been due to a combination of the food truck food plus the smoke from the bar. Again, happy it exists, I just wouldn't go back.

Not much to say other than this is so anti-Napa it's perfect. Cheap, cold beer and super relaxed... almost dirty. I was honestly disappointed we only went once. It was such a funny juxtaposition vs the rest of the glam-Napa experience. Can't wait to go back!

Since plenty of great comments have been previously made on the bar, I will focus on the food truck in the parking lot known as Tacos Garcia. Simply put, these were the best tacos around - authentic, simple, fresh, generous, and absolutely delicious! Also, you can’t beat the price. The crew in the truck had our order ready very quickly - Tacos al Pastor & Shredded Beef Tacos. English and Spanish are spoken, so no need to be at all reluctant. Saw them in the parking lot each afternoon and they had a very steady flow of customers. The locals know this a true gem.

After touring wineries and drinking endless amounts of wine, Pancha's was the perfect place to let it all out and drink some light beers!

Lower your expectations. This is a fun place, and a well known place to visit. For opposite ends of the restaurant experience, walk north from the French Laundry about three minutes and find Pancha's. It's going to be dark and dingy - full of local's who are only moderately friendly (less if you're carrying a to-go back from the French Laundry). Enjoy it for what it is. It smells a bit; is dirty but is a throwback place that is the last of it's kind in Yountville. Ironically across the street from Redd Wood and next door to Ciccio. It's part of the fabric of Yountville and we try to get there every night if we're up for it. Drinks are strong and cheap - you run into some interesting characters. Fun place and not to be missed, but lower your expectations.
