We were there for a twilight tour and had an excellent time despite a cold night. In addition to the common species (possums, wallabies, kangaroos) we were fortunate enough to see six bettongs, three quolls, a sugar glider and many sounds of bush stone-curlews (but...More

The reserve is a securely fenced sanctuary to protect a large area from foxes, cats and other hazards to native wildlife. Previously used for grazing stock it is now largely an area of restoration of grassy eucalypt woodland; also with tussock grassland. It is a...More

An amazing sanctuary developed by the ACT Government to help re-populate threatened wildlife and is free from feral animals. Good for hikers, nature lovers and anyone wanting to explore a protected and natural habitat of Australian wildlife in their own environment.

We were led by two PhD students who were very knowledgable about Mulligan's Flat and the wildlife there. We saw a sugar glider on the trunk of a eucalypt, a tiny little frog that we think was a plains froglet (Crinia parinsignifera?), some possums, bandicoots,...More

This is a wonderful little sanctuary that is in the process of being enlarged. The walks within the sanctuary are easy and relatively flat, but I would still recommend taking an available map from the entrance with you. Lots of birdlife and wildlife to be...More

I loved it. I learnt so much and got to see 10 wild bettongs as well as other wildlife. It’s so great to see conservation at it’s best correcting the destruction we humans have caused. The wine and truffle flavoured Brie weren’t bad either.

Not sure if it was because it was the kids school holiday walk but was expecting more. Kristy lead the group and she did well enough considering a couple of challenging kids. Saw a couple of kangaroos, quite a few of a couple of types...More

We are sorry to hear the experience did not live up to your expectations. And yes – the Kids Night Walks are catered very differently to our regular Twilight Tours. They are shorter, as you can imagine – louder, and so you do not see...More

The Twilight Tour last night was absolutely brilliant and was definitely the highlight of my visit to Canberra. Not only were we provided a highly informative and engaging talk by researcher and guide Belinda, we actually got to see a whole array of native animals...More

A fascinating but chilly night at Mulligans flat knowing we were the only people on the Australian mainland that were watching Bettongs (rare marsupials) in the wild made it all the more special. We watched these Bettongs search and dig for truffles. The wine and...More

Andrew took us on a tour and it was fantastic. It was really well organised. Andrew told us a lot about Mulligans Flat and about the animal life there, including the bettongs. We had lovely wine and cheese in the woodshed. We then went out...More
