About
The Sunset Strip walking tour is a fun and memorable way to explore the history of this legendary rock 'n roll playground. And you'll get the inside scoop from my personal experiences living and working on the Sunset Strip for over 25 years. This tour takes approximately 3 - 3 1/2 hours from start to finish.

Jonny was an amazing guide into the hidden history of the Sunset Strip. He's a former rock musician who has first hand experience of playing and partying in the famous places he showed us... and took us to some secret locations that literally blew our minds. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to experience a night out on the famous Sunset Strip...you'll have stories to tell that few visitors ever get to see. Such a fantastic time.

Book this tour in the beginning of your LA visit so you can make reservations to eat at the coolest restaurants with well known celebrities! @jonnydam has a unique ability to transport anyone back in time when rock bands were in every bar. His expertise as a base guitarist and powerful story teller created an atmosphere like we were living the life of every rocker: Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Motörhead’s Lemmy, and Slash. We had access to secret bookstores, bars, and hotels where the hottest stars hang out.

Jonny is an incredible tour guide. He puts his whole heart and soul into his work. His passion for music and film history is evident from your first encounter with him. He managed to entertain three generations of my family —from a ten year old grandchild to my 76 year old father—and was kind and patient, making sure everyone felt involved and included. Aside from visiting the iconic venues and sites in the area, we ran into three celebrities who all engaged in fun/friendly conversations with us. Definitely the highlight experience of our trip!

We booked this tour after reading so many great reviews from others and wow we weren’t disappointed! Jonny was full of energy and good fun. He took us on a 3 and 1/2 hour fast paced rock tour of West Hollywood showing us places and telling us stories about so many famous rock bands, singers, movie stars, gangsters and the list goes on. Jonny seemed to know everyone on the strip and they were all so friendly. He took us to so many places including hotels, art galleries, book shops. We even stopped at bars for a few drinks whilst Jonny told more amazing stories. Not only did we have a good fun night, but we got plenty of exercise walking the strip and general neighbourhood, whilst listening to some amazing stories and seeing some great historical sites. Jonny took lots of photos and sent them all to us straight after the tour together with some other information and recommendations. Thanks Jonny. Highly recommend this tour to others!

Rock ’n Walk Tours offers an engaging and lively experience on the Sunset Strip, perfect for music lovers who want to explore and learn more about iconic rock history in Los Angeles. Jon is knowledgeable and passionate, providing unique insights into the legendary venues and artists that shaped rock 'n' roll culture. Also, Jon knows everyone in West Hollywood—when I unexpectedly got a splinter from a wooden stair railing during the tour, he quickly found a friend with tweezers and helped get out the splinter (pretty rock 'n' roll! 🤘). The tour is informative and fun, making it an unforgettable experience for visitors to the LA area. Highly recommend!

Brilliant tour of WeHo’s historic rock music sites led by Jonny D’Amico, a local legend who’s lived and breathed the rockstar life himself. The real deal, former stage manager for KISS & band member of Stalag 13. A living encyclopedia of rock history who took us on a whirlwind tour and shared fascinating insights and secrets of the most iconic periods in music history. Most tour guides study their topic, Jonny lived it. Incredible experience, the most authentic tour ever, can’t recommend highly enough. Thanks Uncle Jonny, we’ll be back for your 60th!!

Being a rock and metal fan I was looking forward to this very much. I had heard about this tour on a previous visit to LA so was determined to make it this time.
Jonny was our guide and was full of energy and knowledge. Having worked for many bands and played the strip he shared interesting stories as we wandered around the various venues and tour spots.
The tour takes around 3 and a half to 4 hours to complete and involves a lot of walking. It might have been good to have a short break in the middle as some of the group were tiring before the end. On our tour we were sadly not able to make the stop at the Rainbow due to the Motley Crue Sunset Strip takeover and Jonny had advised each tour changes dependant on what is haoppening on the strip.
Jonny will take plenty of photos along the way for memories and is happy to recommend other things to see and do also.
Recommended for any fan of the rock scene.

We asked ourselves, how can anyone keep us interested and entertained in a 3.5 hour walking tour but Jon delivered beyond any expectations we had. The time flew by and we were captivated by his energy, knowledge and passion for the legacy of the area. He had insider knowledge and was clearly connected to the community. Worth mentioning that I had grown up visiting the strip in my youth and my boyfriend whom attended had never visited Southern California before and we both enjoyed and got a lot out of the tour! Jon leads with the idea he gives his all to each and every tour and that is consistent with my experience.

Highly recommend this tour led by one of a kind Jon Damico! We went with our 16 year old son who thoroughly enjoyed the tour even though the amazing stories told by Jon were beyond his time. The tour was the highlight of our visit to LA. I would recommend you take this tour early in your visit to LA, so many places you can revisit on your own which you would not know about otherwise. Thank Jon, you made our trip 🤗❤️

Jon D'Amico is the ultimate source of knowledge for anything and everything that has happened on the Sunset Strip. Whether you are a history buff or a music buff or you just love the city life in LA, this is the tour you should take. I have taken this tour over 6 times and it is always different with new experiences each time. He knows everyone around the Sunset Strip and trust me, you can meet some really cool people on this tour. His tour takes you to some incredibly neat and off the beaten path places that are sure to leave a smile on your face with some lasting memories to accompany that smile. Plain and simple - this tour is an absolute must when visiting Los Angeles.

Hey there, would you recommend the day or evening tour? Does it matter? Thanks!

Jon, the owner/guide, recommended we book the night tour because it would be “wilder”-more to potentially see. Better possibly of seeing a celebrity in a club or restaurant. Bet a weekend night would be awesome! Sneaking into some of the clubs you may get to see bands setting up. We “crashed” a party on the top of a building to get some awesome pictures. He takes all the pictures himself, of you and your group, he’s a professional photographer and sends them to you promptly after the tour for free. He knows all the good spots and secret spots in town.
