We noticed this charming lodge on our way to Yosemite Valley Lodge, and although it isn't in the heart of Yosemite Valley, it has a lot of history and Southern style charm. We intended to have lunch here on the way to Sequoia and Kings...More

A grand old hotel originally built by the Washburn brothers. Take sometime and wander through the Pioneer center first and you'll appreciate the history of the hotel that much more. I'm a local and take people there often. The dining room is such a step...More

This is the place to get away from it all - TV, radio, newspapers...and even the internet - if you avoid the one spot they have set up that has connectivity! We come back every year for 9 years because we can be quiet, enjoy...More

The location and setting of this lodge is just perfect. It really feels like you are in the Deep South with the big pitches and rocking chairs. So many great historical pictures of days gone by. A great place to stop.

We stayed one night at the Big Trees Lodge after staying in the center of Yosemite Valley at the Majestic Yosemite Lodge. I can tell you that the pace is slower and the crowds are gone when you are at the Big Trees Lodge. It...More

We stayed in Redwoods holiday cottages, but visited Big Tree lodge for their outside BBQ. The Victorian hotel is beautiful, really worth of a visit just because it is like from the movies. I wish we had stayed in this hotel, but it is quickly...More

Call what you will but I will always refer to this as the Wawona Hotel. Never disappoints and if you're hungry this is a must on the list of places to eat in Yosemite. Once the snow melts make sure to hit the golf course...More

We enjoyed the quiet Victorian style accommodations. The room was very small but it was clean. Take advantage of the meadow hike across the street or the short hike to the covered bridge and horses next door. Dinner was over-priced but good.

Wow, the drive by itself to the Wawona Hotel in the middle of Yosemite forests was so exciting and thrilling! ☺

Back to the Wawona Hotel for our annual visit. Yes, I know, the name has been changed to "Big Trees", but, somehow, that just doesn't do it justice. This hotel and the outlying buildings take you back about 100 years. So - if it's peace...More

The Mariposa Grove was about a 10 minute drive from Big Trees Lodge. However, it was closed in July 2017 due to a controlled burn. Not sure when it reopens.
