We had previously went apple picking about 2 years ago and it was a miserable experience - it was hot with long lines to pay for the apples and for the farm stand. Luckily this time around, it was an overcast sky with cool temperatures, which made the apple picking so much more enjoyable.

They had 5 varieties of apples on the day we went: gala, red delicious, royal gala, pippin and gold delicious. The gala and the royal gala were our favorites. The varieties were not well marked so for unseasoned apple pickers it was hard to know exactly what you were picking. Maybe in the future the ranch can put up more signage for their guests.

Because of Covid, you have to either bring your own bags or buckets or you could purchase bags from them. The plastic bags were 50 cents each.

There are portable bathrooms with hand washing stations at the beginning and at the end of the orchard. The amount of soap was lacking though so you may want to bring some sanitizing wipes.

It can be dusty if there was no rain. For those with little ones, bringing shoes that are okay to get dirty or dusty would be best.

Parking can be limited depending on what time of day you arrive. There is parking next to the pick yourself area. If you want to visit the farm stand to purchase food or other items, it is about a 2-4 minute walk from the pick yourself area.

The line at the farm stand was long so be prepared to wait. If you want to purchase a whole pie, you can purchase it from their grocery stand and the line is much shorter. However, they don’t have the same variety of whole pies when compared to the farm stand.

Overall, the apple picking was a fun experience. Go with an open mind and lots of patience.

Great pies! We make a special side trip to get pie here after a restaurant we ate at earlier told us this is where they came from. It's well worth the trip. Lots of choices, cute place,

Great activity for entire family young and old. If you love berries and love to pick berries, this is your place. You have to purchase their berry boxes due to Covid19 but you can pick strawberries, ollieberries, and boysenberries. They have great social distancing protocols in place so hurry as best berry picking is in June.

Went to Gizdich Ranch last weekend because I was craving pie and wanted to get some pies for friends. Got a few of the double berry dutch apple. Everyone loved them. I also tried an apple dumpling while I was there. Comes with a caramel sauce and optional ice cream. It was fantastic. Great place to take the family to pick apples, berries and strawberries when in season. If you know you're going to stop there, call ahead to order your pie(s) and/or dumplings. They have quite a variety and they are all excellent. Their strawberry rhubarb is just like my grandma used to make. And, the family that runs the ranch is very nice and down to earth.

Been here on MC rides, car rides, and just because rides and it is always good. Apple crunch (hot of course) with vanilla ice cream is to die for. Wife likes the rutabaga pie. Antique shop is fun and walking through the orchards is always a blast. Will go there again & again & again till I'm too old. Then I will have someone else drive me there!

When in season, they offer pick your own berry opprotunities. Always available is their gift shop and pie bakery. You can buy pie by the slice or a whole pie. There is an antique store with inconsistent hours.

My parents took me here for the first time 30 years ago. I've been coming back ever since. This is a great family farm where your children can learn about agriculture and farming. Kids can pick apples and enjoy freshly pressed apple cider and apple pie.

This is a place where you will find more than just delicious pies; you will find a beautiful Ranch-Setting where you can seat and enjoy a slice of pie while listening to the birds, looking at the apple trees and watching the kids play on the old tractor or the toys on the yard. During season, you can also pick your own fruits like berries, apples and others. You can also take a look at the antiques at the antique's shop. If you go on a hot day, make sure to try their fresh squeezed apple slushy (my kid's favorite). Gizdich Ranch is definitely one of Watsonville's hidden gems; but if you find it, you will love it!

This was a lovely drive coming from Los Banos, CA to reach the Gizdich Ranch. The end of September was a good time of year to bring 3 toddlers on an apple-picking expedition! We had brought our own bags, but they have them there if you need to use theirs. I would strongly suggest you arrive close to when it opens up....9am. By the time we got ready to leave, shortly after 11am, the Ranch was packed with families and their children out picking several varieties of apples. Today they were all priced at $1.40 per pound.
After gathering our apples and paying for them we walked over to a play area designed especially for young children. There was a fun triple-stacked hay stack, farm-size tractor and other yard toys for the children to play with. Don't dress in your Sunday best! Lots of dirt, but that's what you should expect when you're out picking apples! Restrooms were clean. Plenty of parking (if you arrive early!). We stopped for a delicious piece of apple pie (other varieties were available) and some apple juice + coffee. There is also a gift shop on site. Lovely way to spend the day with the grandchildren!
