Thank you to tripadvisor for leading us to this ampitheatre. And as one reviewer stated it is a "hidden gem." There were locals from the San Diego area and everyone was smiling and friendly. The venue holds 900 people. Parking is free a short walk from the amiptheatre. We found discounted tickets on line. We weren't aware the orchestra has assigned seating, and so we arrived at 5:30 p.m., assuming seats were first come first serve. We bought orchestra seats. Our seats were excellent. Some of the orchestra seats have a concrete berm in front of the seats, for ones picnic basket. This doesn't hinder the leg space, as there is plenty of room between the rows. Make sure to bring a seat cushion as the seats are hard and cold. If you purchase the seats on the grass, the theatre provides low folding chairs. If you have difficulty getting up from a squatting position you should buy orchestra seats. We ate dinner at the small cafe before the show, though many people had brought picnic dinners. The food was good, but pricey. It was a chilly moonlight night. We watched the DooWop Project, which was a lot of fun. We have been at many ampitheatres throughout the country, and this is one of my favorites.

Broadway quality shows in a beautiful venue, you can picnic before the show in the ampitheatre - it is always a great night - they also provide sit down dining at the adjacent patio.

As another reviewer noted, this is a hidden gem under the stars. It is a local regional professional theatre company and every show I have seen there has been Broadway quality (not surprising as many of the actors have been in Broadway shows). The great thing about it is the show cost, which ranges from $17 for lawn to $52 for orchestra seating. You can even bring your own picnic in (just can't bring alcohol in - must buy it there). I love going to shows there. I am so glad I found out about it!

This is such a delightful place. The atmosphere — sitting in seats or on the grass eating and drinking before the performance is super. And, the shows are always top notch. We highly recommend this — regardless of what they are performing. It makes for a wonderful evening!

My goodness, the Moonlight Amphitheatre is a wonderful place to enjoy live performance art. 18 years as a season ticket holder, we are never disappointed, and more times than not, claim each play to be the best we have seen. The last few years, the plays have been on a level that is worthy of Broadway.
