We had a fantastic experience and stay at the beautiful Nelson Family Vineyard last Sunday. The tasting room staff was so welcoming and offered delicious sips in a lovely setting. We loved parking our RV in the Zin vineyards, taking in the beautiful property, and strolling the grounds. Got to chat with some of the Nelson family who were gracious and fun to chat with. We loved the wines (bought multiple bottles, including a fab rosé), and also enjoyed, and bought the house-made pear butter. We joined their wine club and look forward to going back!!

The winery offers overnight stays in a RV or Camper if you are with Harvest Host. This was our first Harvest Host stay and what a great way to start off using our membership. We had a peaceful night next to the Zin vines. Greg helped us get booked and was ever so nice (even after I had to revise my stay date)! The gals in the tasting room were so welcoming on this hot day. And most important, excellent wine and we loved the pear spread we got for our Brie cheese (made by one of the workers there).

Easy off and on to the freeway. The wines were good. We sat in the patio which I believe is a filled in pool. Nice and cool and a bit gentle breeze.
The hostess was kind and helpful. We also got so insight about having a wedding there. We also learned about rv harvest. It is a program where if you have an RV you can go to any other winery for those events and stay on the grounds.
Not crowded so we would go back

What an incredible experience. To start, we’ve never done a wine tasting before, but from the moment we walked up to the Tasting Room, we felt welcomed. Our wine guide was knowledgeable and helpful, and we learned a lot while having an incredible time. Even though it was our first experience with wine tasting, we know it would be equally incredible to an experienced taster. Highly recommend for anyone passing through the Mendocino Valley.

This winery and tasting room hit all the right notes on all aspects including quality of wine, food and service.

The views of the hills are also spectacular from the outdoor seating area of the tasting room.

This is not your typical massive, noisy, overly crowed Napa tasting room.

It's more of a private (but open to all), quieter, and much more relaxing winery instead.

I can't wait to go back.

We stopped here on our way south and enjoyed a very pleasant tasting and some cheese & crackers. We came home with 8 bottles of wine and some olive oil. The dessert wines are especially good!

We stopped at Nelson Family vineyards while driving south to Napa. They have a scenic area outside with a small grouping of redwoods that overlooks their vineyard. Their wine list spans sparkling brut to cabs, offering something for everyone.

Stopped here and loved the wines- so I joined the wine club! Can’t wait to attend their events. Try the Pinot Noir and Petit Verdot- they are both excellent. Friendly staff- we had an enjoyable time. Don’t miss the redwood grove on the property- just beautiful.

This winery is not only beautiful, but the wines are scrumptious. . The gift shop has wonderful local products from the winery. Don't forget to store at the strawberry shack as you pull in. Yum..

We really enjoyed tasting all of the different wines. We ended up buying a whole entire case. They shipped it to our house for us so we didn't have to pack it in our luggage. Learning about the family and how they acquired the land was really interesting. This is a quick little stop off the highway and worth trying. We also enjoyed meeting their dogs. As we are a little homesick for ours and they are at home. You can tell there's a lot of love in this vineyard. If you join their wine club they give you a substantial discount. We buy a lot of wine so we will enjoy this! Thank you Nelson Family for helping us make some memories!
