Nice Course - Horrible Homeowner
Oct 2016 • Family
The course is very nice and reasonable but the homeowner living in one of the homes along the course was downright rude and obnoxious. You would think living next to a golf course, the owner would expect a few errant golf balls but the homeowner threatened to sic her large dog when I walked on her driveway (not her yard) to retrieve my ball. She continued screaming and cussing for a full 5 minutes as I walked away. It made for a bad experience in an otherwise nice day.

This isn't the best groomed course, but it is a challenging 9-holer that was really fun to play. You can get on at the last minute and have a great time. There is a par three that almost goes straight up. Many of the holes are quite long, but it's mostly open and playable. We played twice a got a tee time readily about an hour or so before we played.

Great value golf course in Truckee
We play this course often. Great management and employees. John is real asset to Ponderosa.

9 holes, fairways always in good shape. Course meanders through tall pines. Best value for golf in Tahoe area. Nice course to walk.

Surprise fun in the Sierra

I took my 6 and 9 year old grandsons here to play golf and was very pleased with the experience.
We went late afternoon during the week and found easy availability. The course is easy to walk, and they have push carts if you desire...the boys chose to carry their own clubs. The holes are fairly straight forward, with challenges. We enjoyed the leisurely pace. The little clubhouse has snacks, hats, towels and a few clothing items if you find yourself in need. The boys are just learning, so to keep us from holding other players up we have a rule....you hit the ball the number of years you are, then take it to the putting green to putt out. Keeps everyone happy.
