For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back style, Northstar California Resort combines California cool with high-end luxury, on-mountain exhilaration with a sophisticated alpine village atmosphere. Halfway between one of North America's coolest mountain towns and one of the world's most beautiful alpine lakes, Northstar is a destination on the rise, having poured nearly a billion dollars into creating Lake Tahoe's premier luxury snowsports experience. Upscale shops, refined dining and Lake Tahoe's only five-star slopeside lodging is married to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier (and world-class terrain parks to keep the kids busy). Those who come to Northstar know what they're looking for. Sometimes it's adventure, sometimes it's to learn, sometimes it's to relax in a welcoming place with family and friends. No matter what that experience is, they'll find it to be exactly the way it should be.

This place looked magical when it was snowing heavily. We were suppose to go snowboarding and dog sledding but because of the weather, most of the activities were cancelled. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed exploring the facilities of the resort and just walking around checking out the place. We will definitely come back next year!

Very nice resort with efficient rental system. Still surprised at the cost of Lucy tickets these days, but that's the same across the country. Food mid mountain was overpriced, but typical. The only thing to make note of was the traffic leaving the resort. Either go early before the lifts close or stay and have a beer. 2 lanes of... More

Drove in from UT for President's weekend expecting big crowds and we were so impressed with the systems in place to handle the crowds and get everyone on the mountain. Northstar is a great mountain, stay in the backside for less crowds. Expect lots of snowboarders and super friendly people on the lift who were happy to give us tips... More

Northstar is our family's favorite ski resort in the Lake Tahoe region. There are lots of intermediate runs that are wide with wonderful views. Most of the chair lifts are at least high speed quads. On a windy day when the gondolas are closed at Heavenly, Northstar's are almost always open. The picturesque village at the base of the main... More

My very first time to North Star could not have been better. Terrain is awesome and all the lifties are super nice with great customer service. Ski Patroler Kody W. was great answering all my questions about the resort. I really felt like I knew where to go after talking with him. I will definitely get another season pass next... More

Enjoyed skiing here. Probably ideal for ski a week a year improvers / families rather than skiing die hards but some nice touches. Catering on the mountain fairly typically North American with burgers chilli and soup or some Asian noodle things on offer in most of the restaurants and Starbucks quality coffee but you can have a beer if you... The resort is very nice beautiful great shops, great food, a nice movie theater. I would like to give it a five stars but traffic control at the resort is one of the worst I have ever seen out of any Resort they need to take lessons to control traffic and parking better.

Northstar is a "small" mountain and all of the terrain can be skied in a single day. To me this is a mountain for retirees, great skiers who have dialed it back a few notches. It was also described to me as a "family" mountain. I can see this as a place that I will seek out when I'm retired.... More
