Description:

For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back style, Northstar California Resort combines California cool with high-end luxury, on-mountain exhilaration with a sophisticated alpine village atmosphere. Halfway between one of North America's coolest mountain towns and one of the world's most beautiful alpine lakes, Northstar is a destination on the rise, having poured nearly a billion dollars into creating Lake Tahoe's premier luxury snowsports experience. Upscale shops, refined dining and Lake Tahoe's only five-star slopeside lodging is married to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier (and world-class terrain parks to keep the kids busy). Those who come to Northstar know what they're looking for. Sometimes it's adventure, sometimes it's to learn, sometimes it's to relax in a welcoming place with family and friends. No matter what that experience is, they'll find it to be exactly the way it should be.

Northstar does a great job of appealing to those young and old. With attractions such as tubing, ice skating and nightly live music, there are activities available to skiers and non skiers alike. For those looking for wide groomed runs, Northstar has it. If you are looking for steeps and cliffs, this may not be your cup of tea, but... More

Our family is a 9-year season pass holder. Until this season 2016, Northstar, was the best in Northern CA. NS was like the Disneyland of ski resort-swankie with the permanent smile service. However, since Vail Group made the purchase several years back, the price has gone up and the service has gone down until this season, it came to an... More

Lake Tahoe was such a beautiful place. The people were really nice and friendly. We enjoyed all the food and beverages we ate and drank. We attended a wedding at Saint Francis of Assisi and the reception at the Ritz Carlton. The church was the most beautiful church I have ever seen. The Ritz Carlton dinner was also great. Beautiful... The experience of driving up the foothills to Northstar and the snow covered roads wasn't a concern as the roads were regularly cleared. Views of the massive trees peaking through the nearly 300 inches of seasonal snow was very scenic. A short drive to the quaint village made the journey from Reno to our room in less than one hour.... Although it has been a few years since we went to Northstar, it was one of the best ski vacations we had. The resort is beautiful. We put my small children in a group lesson while we went skiing for the entire morning. They have a very nice skating rink with outdoor fire pits we all enjoyed in the afternoon.... More

This resort has a lot of variety as far as on site activities go. There is a wide range of shops and outdoor seating (with fire pits) at the base. They have an onsite ice skating rink and a bar that makes pretty delicious cocktails. The slopes are great for both beginning and experienced boarding/skiing. For those not going up... More

Northstar skiing was not crowded mid week. It is geared towards beginner, intermediate skiers. Most of the mountain would be considered intermediate groomers, regardless of the signage... They have several areas served by chairlifts. The conditions on the mountain varied by where the sun was. I skied mid-week, and rarely had more than 5 or 10 chairs of people waiting... More

Just visited with my two boys and their two friends for a day of snowboarding. Nice place, good restaurants. Wish they had more boutique stores but it was fun!

Not since skiing with the friendly Canadians at Whistler, have I felt so appreciated and "seen" by lift operators and staff. This is an excellent ski resort. The slopes are very well taken care of and the staff are quite kind and cheerful.

We signed our kids (10, 7) for the Ultimate ski package and it delivered! Great instructor and the kids are now in love with skiing! Will be back for sure for additional lessons.
