Description:

For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back...

For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back style, Northstar California Resort combines California cool with high-end luxury, on-mountain exhilaration with a sophisticated alpine village atmosphere. Halfway between one of North America's coolest mountain towns and one of the world's most beautiful alpine lakes, Northstar is a destination on the rise, having poured nearly a billion dollars into creating Lake Tahoe's premier luxury snowsports experience. Upscale shops, refined dining and Lake Tahoe's only five-star slopeside lodging is married to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier (and world-class terrain parks to keep the kids busy). Those who come to Northstar know what they're looking for. Sometimes it's adventure, sometimes it's to learn, sometimes it's to relax in a welcoming place with family and friends. No matter what that experience is, they'll find it to be exactly the way it should be.

We have been to several resorts in Colorado and New Mexico that are family friendly to skiers and boarders and this is the best yet. The village is nice and the service is great at Northstar. We were able to enjoy ski in/out at the Constellation resort connected to the ritz (which I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend to any family wanting a... More

Attractive village of condos and restaurants and ski shops around an ice rink below ski runs. Today is the second day of the new season and it started out with 6+ inches of new snow atop a decent base enough for several slopes to be open. Could be a very good season ahead with such an early start!

I've been on the snowshoe star gazing tours and off season constellation tour too. It's organized by the resort at Northstar and up on the mountain past the Ritz. The guides are well informed and share their knowledge of the stars above and answer questions. For slower folks there is a guide who walks at the end to ensure safety... More

Well managed ski operation, great variety of slopes for every level of ski ability, great food (expensive), village has a variety of retail/food vendors, shuttles from parking areas to foot of village-still have to walk with skis to base of gondola/chair lifts-kind of a pain, not a drop in ski resort-plan to be there all day, ski slope grooming is... Since two winters ago, my family and I have been going to Northstar to ski. The snow is great for beginners because it is groomed very well, and is also very clean. The lines for lifts are not very long and move fairly quickly. The gondola express which takes skiers up to the trails provided a view great for pictures.... More

Not many people, few restaurants open, fine accommodations at good prices and lots of activities for everyone. No snow and fine mild weather too. Unlimited bike activities, roller skating, rock wall climbing, hiking, lake water activities, golf, pool and hot tub, etc.

I enjoyed the Northstar Village during Winter, but came back Summertime and it was a ghost town. Barely anything open at the village and all outdoor activities were available only on weekends because it was extremely slow. Best to just enjoy during Winter.
