Eagle Ridge Snowmobiling is Exhilarating!
Dec 2019
Booked a private 2-hour tour (only $60 more per machine) for 5 people at the Brockway Summit location south of Truckee. Our group included two first time riders (16 and 18 years old). Our guide, Dan, gave us the tour of a lifetime with several stops for photos with beautiful Lake Tahoe in the background, including an all out snowball fight! Be prepared for an adrenaline rush!

Best Equipment and Guides!
Jan 2016
We were in the middle of snow storm, but, lucky for us we 5 were the only ones on the trip! The equipment was top, new, awesome and hand hand warmers. Helmets with darkened face masks! We got to a meadow and had fun and then went on and off trails! What a wonderful experience!

Fun family trip
Dec 2015 • Family
"G" gave us a fantastic tour even though it was five minutes short ;^). We were a group of 5 from Florida and never been snowmobiling. Youngest 18. 2 were very nervous. We paid a semi negotiated rate for a private tour. I did the private tour to prevent our group from slowing down the other customers.

The place is a way from Lake Tahoe. Make sure you know where you are going before you leave as cell phone service is not available. Google maps have them at a circle in Truckee but it is 15 miles further north on 89. Hopefully google maps will be fixed soon.

Check in is easy. They offer insurance to add to the cost. I declined as it seems like they would be hard to damage unless you are a bit wreckless.

They have a bunch of helmets with a faceshield so goggles are not needed. Check-in is fairly quick with a couple papers to sign.

Detailed description and safety is covered by the guide. Handlebars are heated. They can get pretty hot on high.

The first half hour is on wide trails that lead you to an open meadow. This is a free ride period which made my boys happy as we were pretty sloiw going about 10 mph. With frequent stops by our guide to get us all back together and encourage us to go a little quicker. In the meadow you go around in a track like arrangement going as fast as you want ( 30 to 40 mph) or slow if you want. This free play is a really nice feature of the tour.

When ready, the tour continues through the beautiful woods. The trails were thinner after the meadow stop. There was a really nice snow fall (12+ inches) a couple days before our snowmobile trip. Our group started averaging about 20 but still had some difficulty of staying together. For the final quarter our group started cruising well together at 30+ mph. Which why we got back a little early as our group was fairly slow.

Most people seem to select the Lake Tahoe tour. It was sold out so we went on this tour and glad that we did. It is a bit pricey but renting jetskis in my area is about $80-$100 an hour so relative to that it is priced fairly reasonable especially since a guide also has to be paid.

Snowmobile Experience

Really good outfit and an amazing group of trails. Best part was the open meadow. Worth the little extra drive to be in a wonderful area with good guides and mobiles. So much fun...

Outstanding Tour
Mar 2012 • Couples
Took a 2-hour tour in March 2012, and had a great time - this was the only snowmobile tour I've taken in Tahoe, but I can't imagine they get any better and would highly recommend it.

I specifically picked this company because they offer what they call "play areas," essentially a giant meadow they take you to and let you just turn loose for a little while and experiment with the machines. This part was a ton of fun; this was my first time on a snowmobile, but I've been on ATV tours that are just a boring slow single file line with no experimentation - being able to spend 45 minutes or so just zipping around (had a great time racing the other couple we were with) in whatever direction I wanted in open ground was great. They bill themselves as the only tour operator in the area to offer this service - not sure if that's true or not, but if you wanted the full snowmobiling experience, I wouldn't go anywhere that didn't.

After letting us use the open areas, we then embarked on a more traditional tour portion, single file on a trail to a really amazing scenic viewpoint. A few parts, particularly towards the beginning and end, were fairly heavily trafficked by other [private] snowmobilers, but once we got out a bit, didn't see too many other people, and the trails looked lightly traveled. Tour guide was friendly and helpful, and never appeared flustered or irritated despite some newbies (including myself) burying their machines in snow banks or tipping over and having to be helped up. Guide was good at keeping the speeds fast enough to be exciting, but not beyond anyone's comfort level.

The machines themselves were pretty new and in great shape. Definitely not the most powerful snowmobile around, but that's probably for the best. Incredibly comfortable seats though.

Price was very reasonable, although I think all snowmobile tours in Tahoe are more or less the same price.

Wonderful people and a first class trip

Well done and authentic - no riding in a line - they teach you to ride in beautiful backcountry locations on real machines that go fast!
