About
Epoch was founded on a simple philosophy, to strive to make wines that are delicious and complex, seriously fun to drink, interestingly iconoclastic, seductively hedonistic, thought provoking and hopefully, most importantly, memory making. In a short time, we have quickly developed a big reputation for small production, hand-crafted, artisanal wines with abundant personalities. We produce estate-grown Rhone, Zinfandel, and Tempranillo varietals and our winemaker, Jordan Fiorentini, crafts our wines with minimal intervention in the winery so the most delicious wine makes it to your glass. We are located on the west side of the Paso Robles wine region on the historic York Mountain. We invite you to come taste the wines, visit the team and capture your own Epoch moment here on the historic York Mountain.

I visited Epoch as part of a group of 10 family members. When I heard there was a $59 per person tasting fee, I looked up the description on the website and decided it must be an "elevated tasting," which piqued my interest. I've had some pretty great hospitality at PR wineries, but none of us were members at Epoch, so I had no idea what to expect. It turns out, I was wise to keep my expectations low. The tasting room and the barrel room where we were seated were lovely, so great ambience. We had the opportunity to purchase (!?!) beautiful charcuterie plates, served by a charmingly enthusiastic and knowledgeable server. That's all good stuff.

We also enjoyed our tasting host, who was very personable; but the tasting was pretty basic considering the outrageous cost, which they would not waive if we purchased wine. There were just 5 pours that were okay but seemed overpriced, plus a bonus muscat (I don't like sweet wines). I felt as though we were just getting to the fuller-bodied wines I prefer, but they weren't on the menu and I was shut down when I asked to taste the zinfandel she told us about. I know that might have gone differently If I had joined the club, but why would I, under the circumstances?

I understand that tasting rooms get burned by large parties who taste and run, but they missed an opportunity with us. We bought a lot of wine and joined some clubs over our annual weekend, but not at Epoch.

This wine was recommend to us by staff at the "Loft at the Market" wine bar. Cute place to stay. This winery was the highlight of our day. Excellent wines. Everyone has different taste buds. Purchases more at the end of the day after a couple more tasting.

We had never visited Epoch, but knew people that had and raved about the place. Plus, we had consumed some of the wine and knew we liked it. Compared to some of the other wineries, Epoch is a bit further out Hwy 46 toward the ocean. They are located is a lovely mountain area where you feel completely away from everything.

I contacted Epoch about doing an elevated visit and tasting. We wound up doing a production tour and tasting. The tour was interesting and gave a great behind scenes look at how they make and age their wines.

After the tour we did the tasting. It very casual and we were walked through each wine by our dedicated tasting team member (who also took us on the tour).

Highly recommend making a reservation for your visit. This way Epoch can have a a tasting team member dedicated to you and your group. A regular tasting you can book on-line. Anything elevated, you need to contact them.

We enjoyed their wines do much, we are now members and looking forward to our first shipment.

Not easy to get to....but SO WORTH IT!
Probably one of the top three for me in the region. Not only are the wines world-class, they serve food as well. Some of the most stunning views, not only outside but inside as well. Should be on your "MUST VISIT" list when in Paso

I've been to Napa, Livermore, Temecula, etc....but my favorite place to taste is Paso Robles. I've been going there to taste for 20 years+. I love it, and I've never had a BAD experience...but I have to say, this weekend's tasting at Epoch was the BEST I've ever experienced in Paso!
Years ago when Epoch rebuilt York Mountain and opened their new facility (now several years old), my family and I were the very first people to step through the doors to taste. We were in Paso for the weekend visiting my cousin's family, and we were driving down the 46, and saw some Epoch signs. My cousin (who had been to just about every winery in Paso) said "oh, that's new! lets try it!"...so we did. As we drove up to the building, there were about a half a dozen people standing outside in the rain welcoming us with umbrellas. Turns out we were the very first group to stop by on their first day open to the public! So cool! It was a great and memorable time!
Fast forward to this past weekend. My bestie and I were meeting some friends from the bay area who regularly visit Napa for wine tasting, so I wanted to find someplace special to take them. I recalled the space at Epoch being amazing, and the great memories, so I called and made an appointment. As we arrived and walked up to the gorgeous facility, Ryan met us out front with 4 glasses of wine! Well this was starting off nicely! He then showed us to our own tasting table, already set with 4 glasses each of reds, and an assortment of informative materials, and left us with Tom. Tom was THE BEST! We sat with Tom for about an hour and a half while he taught us so many things about wine, about Epoch, about local history, just a great person and wealth of information! So warm and engaging. My best friend who had never been tasting before felt so comfortable, and we were all just entirely impressed with his friendly, down to earth yet IMMENSELY knowledgeable and passionate disposition. Just a wonderful person overall. I can't say enough about Tom. He just make for an awesome experience for everyone! What an amazing time we had! I've never done a seated tasting in Paso, and honestly didn't really care if I ever did because I've always liked the environment a bar tasting kind of makes at most tasting rooms, but this was just SPECIAL. I can't describe it any other way.
Additionally, the facilities! I mean, come on! It's just an amazing space with so much history tastefully retained. Just a great place to spend a couple hours sipping wine and exploring.
Lastly, the wine. DELICIOUS! I find myself becoming more and more appreciative of whites, and although they don't have many, they are stellar! The reds are damn good too! I left with two bottles of white, and one of my pals left with an armload of reds, plus some swag, she loved the place so much!
I'm in love with Epoch, and I plan to make it a mandatory stop every time I go to Paso from now on.
PS I was a little bummed they switched from an open tasting to an appointment only tasting, but I tell you, I think that's what made it so special. There were a few other parties around, but it wasn't shoulder to shoulder at the bar, and it was nice to have some room to mill around and check out the facility. I don't think I'd like to do it any other way now! PERFECTION!
PSS the price for the tasting was $20pp at the time of this review, and it is over and above worth it in terms of value! It reminded me of some $50+ tastings I've experienced. I would actually pay a little more if they included chocolate or cheese pairings as well.

(you don't need to buy a ticket or pay in advance, but I do recommend making an appointment in advance as that's the only way to taste there)

This is one of our top 3 favorite wineries in Paso. And it's neck & neck with the other two! First, the wines are terrific. We couldn't help ourselves with Ingenuity and Reserva Tempranillo and purchased several of each. BUT, beyond the terrific wines is the fabulous contemporary architecture; use of space, light and recycled materials. But, beyond that the staff and their welcoming nature, gracious hospitality and knowledge were beyond expectations. Enjoy a glass of your favorite wine, take it out to the Adirondacks overlooking the valley and tucked under the shade of a large oak tree. . . ahhhh, pure heaven.
Our compliments to their management team and their support team; Lacey who greeted us with excitement upon our arrival at the door and the unleashed an aray of interesting facts and knowledge about the winery and the wines. Ryan who regaled us with stories and Brayden who took the time to assist us throughout our visit. We can't wait to return. AND, it's a small-ish facility with intimate tasting areas for all guests. Great job Epoch!

Absolutely one of our favorite wineries in the Paso region. Starting with the key focus: the wines are really, really good, and they are varied. But it's more than that. The tasting room is really beautiful, with great nods to the history of winemaking in the region. It has received recognition from Architectural Digest (or one of those magazines; not positive which) as one of the most distinctive tasting rooms IN THE WORLD, and it deserves. Add to that: on both of our visits, we got excellent guidance from our wine educators. They were deeply informative without being pretentious. On our second visit, the winemaker Jordan was sitting at the bar and enjoying some wine. We got to talking -- without knowing at first who she was -- and she could not have been nicer or more unassuming. Here's a really accomplished winemaker, and she seemed actually tickled to have people appreciating her wine. This is a high-class winery that, in other regions, could go all snooty. But it doesn't. It keeps the down-to-earth (apt metaphor!) vibe that makes Paso Robles so wonderful. Yeah, Epoch!

This special spot was one of the first places in the Paso Robles area to produce wine dating back to the 1880s.

We have enjoyed the wines from Epoch for a long time particularly those with a Paderewski Vineyard base.

This stop was primarily to look at the new tasting room; magnificent. Certainly, the new facility gives Epoch the opportunity to be bigger / bolder with the presentation of its excellent wine. More importantly to us, the Armstrong's have preserved a special piece of Paso history with their investment in restoring the structure from 130+ years ago.

Well Done and Thank You!
