Hart is a small charming family owned winery at the entrance of California Road. We joined the Hart Wine Club during our first visit two years ago and return to Hart at least once per month for a tasting or glass of wine and to sit and relax outside. The staff is very friendly and food is available for purchase on the weekend (pre-Covid). You can also bring your own food, which we do each month. Cheers!

We enjoyed our tasting at Hart. They offer a red or white tasting - we both opted for white in the hot weather and enjoyed the wine. They have a nice patio area shaded by trees. The atmosphere is very laid back and many people bring their dogs. Compared to some of the other wineries with the big bus groups, this was a relaxing experience that we would return for.

Wine was ok: dry whites and full bodied reds. 5 acres of grapes, small producer. Minimal experience. $20 per person, 4 samples each. We did one white flight and one red to maximize the experience. Go to Temecula duck pond for your picnic. It was charming!

The views are just spectacular! Loved the rustic feel and cute little gift shop. The service was okay, we didn't particularly love the covid adaptation of serving all tastings in individual plastic cups on a plastic tray for you to repour into your glass. But I understand it. We got a bottle of their Merlot for home - it's so smooth.
There were couples who brought food with them and ate at the tables set up outside as well. Can't wait to go back to Hart!

I enjoy Hart Winery so much! It is natural, simple, friendly. It is not a place full of artificial décor, or a product of overbuilding (grandiose million dollar schemes to get people in) and pompousness like many of the other wineries that have taken over the valley (a third of them from what I have been told, by foreigners). I believe it is the oldest, if not one of the original wineries in wine country; plus this family owned business makes their own wine from their own grapes (100%), unlike many/most of the other wineries here who are allowed to import wine and grapes.

I visited Hart on Sunday in celebration of my nephew's 21st birthday. We were asked to mask (a minor nuisance especially since we are outside) and were greeted by Greg in a friendly manner. He even took our picture later.
Sitting outside in the ambiance of huge oak, maple and pine trees and overlooking their vineyards, we picnicked from our own basket at their picnic tables and sipped wine. I highly recommend Hart.

We had a great wine tasting experience here. They open early at 10:30am on a Saturday. We got there shortly after opening and it began to fill up quickly. The staff were very friendly. We grabbed a table outside. Great views of the vineyard. Excellent wine and generous pours. We received a bonus pour and ended with each of us getting a glass of our favorite wine from the tasting and then we purchased a few bottles. I really enjoyed their Grenache from the sister winery Halter Ranch in Paso Robles. Definitely will be back! It was a great, leisurely tasting experience - not rushed at all. I think you can even bring your own food and eat it on their patio area (which other people were doing).

We stayed at South Coast(6) and tried the following other wineries: Falkner(7), Leonesse(5), Thornton(3), Wilson Creek(4), Hart(1), Ponte(1) and Maurice Car'rie. We generally enjoyed the wines at all of the wineries. However, we found Hart to be our favorite. There was something very distinctive about the quality of most of their wines. I'm not a pro wine drinker, but I know what I like. They have a very small tasting room and we were lucky enough to have a long converstation with both the owner and his son. Make sure Hart is on your list when you head out to taste wines in Temecula. Oh, and the numbers after each winery put them in order of our favorite(1) to least favorite(7) in terms of wines we tasted.

They used to mainly make only Rhone Varietals, but that has changed. They have ditched the Rhone, and went with the popular, even though being different is what made them good. But they have jumped the shark when it has come to wine production. They used to be different, but they have gone with the flow, and now they like the others, they suck. Even publications like W.S, W.E, and even W.A., have said they don't like the change that has happened.

No Rhone wines? We currently have available three Rhone wines; our 2010 and 2011 Roussanne and our Rhone blend, "Tres Hermanos" which is a blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. Soon we will be bottling our 2010 Syrah, our 2010 Grenache and our 2011 Mourvedre, Like many small wineries we don't always have all of our wines available for tasting, especially after harvest we may be between bottling's, but we still make all of Rhone wines we have always made include many award winners. Several attempt to contact this reviewer to discuss the information in his review have not been answered, possibly during his visit the reviewer could have asked our tasting room staff about wines produced before posting miss-information in a review.

The Hart Winery has a tiny tasting room overlooking beautiful vineyards and hills in Temecula. For $5 you can taste five wines, or for $10 you can taste any five (including those on the Reserve list). I'm a big fan of Viognier, and was excited to see a 2006 Viognier on their tasting list that sells for $14.00/bottle. Unfortunately, the bouquet and the finish of the wine resembled vinegar.

Their red wines were much better, and we really enjoyed the 2006 "Three" which sells for $18 a bottle. It is a Southern Rhone-style red wine made from 56% Mourvedre, 22% Syrah, and 22% Grenache. A nice full-bodied red that is slightly dry and has a slight oak aftertaste.

Overall the Hart winery isn't my first choice in Temecula. There are several other wineries that have a much nicer ambiance with a better selection of wines. The plus? A nice row of picnic areas outside which provide a gorgeous view of the vines.

Not really impressed with the tasting room. There are much better wineries in Temecula. Their selection is limited, and their tasting room is essentially a barn. The servers were friendly. Its conveniently located which is its biggest plus. If you can only visit a limited number of wineries, skip this one.

Tasting in a barn? Many of our guests enjoy actually tasting in a working winery rather then a tasting room that is often far removed from the actual winery production facility. Although rustic, our winery and tasting room are certainly not a barn, well kept and clean and you will likely find a member of the Hart family pouring you wine.
