A cute place
Sep 2020
They were closed when we went, but this place looks charming and was easy to find from just walking around. I can't wait to come back when they reopen.

Find the mouse
Jun 2019
Engaging for all inquisitive ages! Go on a treasure hunt to find the mouse, experience an earthquake, learn some chemistry, play an interesting instrument or game, walk through a glow in the dark maze or browse the fun gift shop.

Its for the kids
Aug 2019
The kids liked it a lot. They spent 2 hours running around and after we left they asked if they could come back again

for 8 and under

Fun place for kids who are 8 and under. The glow in the dark room and the tunnel were my daughter's favorite. A decent place for a 1-2 hour visit.

Great afternoon activity for children

We visited last week after school for the first time. The place is really cute, and loads for the kids to do! There were however quite a few interactive displays that were not in operation when we were there. Great for kids aged 2-11 I'd say.

An Afternoon of Fun for Children
Jan 2019 • Couples
Making science and learning fun for kids is what this museum is all about. Hands on displays to educate and make complex ideas digestible and understandable. Located in Old Town Temecula this museum could easily fill a couple of hours. Probably best for kids 12 and younger—although my husband and I went on our own and found it interesting as well.

Recycling the past to encourage the present...

If your crazy great uncle died and left you his eclectic "collections," you would be tempted to start something like Pennypickle's. It's a weirdly retro-nouveau indoor jumble sale of a place, featuring cleverly disguised learning opportunities for kids. The props, most of which seem to be the kinds of things you'd find at a roadside antiques shop or themed chain restaurant. These re purposed objects serve to encourage kids (I think 12 and under are the best ages for this place) to take a closer look at math, science, and engineering while having fun. The museum is well put together, interesting to look at, and staffed by friendly young people in lab coats. If you are in the area on a super hot or rainy day, this would be a good distraction for the kids.

So much fun for kids!

This museum is build for young kids and is a lot of fun to explore! They are able to do experiments and learn interesting stuff at the same time! A bonus is that the children museum is located in old town Temecula! Nice for the parents to have lunch while the kids are at the museum!

The same since it opened

Everyone raves about the children's museum in Temecula. Since it's the only one locally I agree it is the best. There is a lot to do here and you could spend the day here if you were able to. While they only allow you to spend time in Pennypickle's home for an hour you can get it all done but it would be nice to have more time to explore. My favorite part is the maze, the panels are easily moveable to allow for new pathways. The music room is the children's favorite but after spending so much time at the museum years ago I can still recall the instruments and sound effects in my dreams. The thing I don't like about it is it's never changing. I don't mind fixed exhibits but there needs to be more movement in new ideas. They have fun special events but for older children (they need that, so not really a complaint, just not in our season of life). Tony (the man behind the professor) did such an amazing job designing all the areas. I wish the City of Temecula gave him credit where credit is due and not let old council members take the credit. The gift shop is nice and full of things STEM-related. reasonably priced for a museum gift shop. Walk past their register to get to the gate and the museum register. Arrive early enough to find parking. City Hall has parking and it's a short walk away but it's better to park in the museum parking lot which fills up pretty quick. The moment you go past the bridge you hit "the bad part of town" so, be careful around the evening time. If you have little ones do them a favor and visit the museum after the farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Your drinking in the wine country can wait.
