- SarahTemecula, California171 contributionsGreat wine, food and ambiance!I was at Robert Renzoni most recently for a wine tasting with a large group of women on a Friday right as they opened at 11am. I'd been here numerous times to eat and enjoy wine/music on the patio but surprisingly, had never had a tasting here. The large tasting room is rustic yet elegant, with vaulted ceilings and lots of room to wander around and check out their home/gift items. I love that they have a woman winemaker and that Robert Renzoni is Southern California's first totally solar-powered winery! Brian served our group of about 20 and he was great at juggling it all! It was hard to choose a favorite, but I especially enjoyed the 2022 Cantata (Sauv Blanc/Viognier blend) and the 2020 Syrah. The marinara and crunchy little breadsticks in between sips was a nice touch and especially appreciated! We've always enjoyed excellent food on the patio at Mama Rosa's Trattoria. The ambiance is great and they have some wonderful live music on the weekends. I am disappointed that they've made the front patio areas 21+ Friday-Sunday. I agree with another reviewer that I've never witnessed a problem with disruptive children...whereas drunken bachelorette groups can sometimes be the worst! Overall, Robert Renzoni is 5-star with great wine, food and ambiance.Visited November 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 2, 2023

They said we couldn’t do a tasting as it was after 5:30 which should have been advertised. Had a glass of Pinot Grigio and grabbed a seat outside to enjoy the view, which is beautiful. Piped in music is unimpressive- a live band would be better. Not sure if I’d return.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 31, 2024
- RyTheITGuyMurrieta, California49 contributionsFantastic Wines and Inflexible Membership OptionsWe've been members for around 2 years now. We love nearly all of their wines, the best we've tasted in the valley. The food is good as well. The GM is incredibly inflexible on changing out your wine shipments (there are some wines we prefer more than others) for members and they charge a "handling fee" for member shipments. Those two items are my only frustration. The grounds are beautiful, the food delicious, and the wines are our favorite in the valley. If you like sweet wines, their La Rosa is amazing! If you like reds, their Barbera and Zinfandel are our favorites.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 13, 2024
- CEFJRUnited States310 contributionsGreat wine beautiful settingWe had an awesome visit at Robert Renzoni. The wines were excellent and our hostess Sabina was wonderful. We visited with my son and his fiancée. They had not been to Temecula nor had my wife and I. We’ve been to wineries all over the US and my expectations were low for Temecula. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth a visit. And then you can grab a bite next door at their restaurant.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 26, 2024

Post-seating at the table, all was poor from food order process to service to food to check out. Restaurants use pandemic and shortage of labor as excuse for decline. at table, the hostess gave us a menu with a number to run to a station to place food & drink orders, pay and wait for it to be delivered. Food was dumped one by one with no condiments, utensils, sauces.... the delivery man disappearing! At the end, we couldn’t even get boxes got take out and simply decided to leave and not to waste time.
If Mama Rosas restaurant at Robert Renzoni cannot deliver at least an edible pasta dish, a pizza or a fresh salad, don’t open. Operate just as a winery. What’s even worse is the prices that signal quality but deliver a lack of. Avoid the Ravioli which ends up being pasta dipped in tasteless tomato sauce or take acid reflux medication. The recommended “most popular” pizza with sausage barely beats Domino's at 3 times the price and the greasy sticks of eggplant “shoots” are mushy and horrible at $16, good there are only 5! Obviously, the winery makes good money at low cost and blames it all on Covid-19 but for how long?

We are members of this winery, and the red wines here are excellent. We come here often to enjoy the spectacular view, have a glass of wine, and eat at the restaurant here, Mama Rosa's Trattoria. My gripe is not with the winery, but with the restaurant. While their food is very good, they are totally unaccommodating to any special request. Due to a digestive condition, there are only certain cheeses I can eat. They have several different cheeses in various dishes on their menu. I have asked more than once if I could swap one cheese for another on a sandwich, and they have refused each time for a variety of reasons...the kitchen is too backed up, we only have two chefs today, no special requests at this time. It is not difficult to replace one slice of cheese with another, and almost every other restaurant willingly does this without question.

Not a family friendly place. Canceled this place's membership. Had they implemented this "only 21 and over" (including infants) two months ago when we joined. We would have never joined. As our very special princess who is 15 yr old loves to come with us to Temecula. Disappointed is an understatement and it will take years before we ever try again if at all to come back here. No where in the grounds can we be, except far away at a "picnic area" and the restaurant (wait time 2 hour standing outside the building) 👎👎👎👎👎👎 you can get better wine at Costco for $12 (92+ points)

We used to love coming here for lunch and a glass of wine , but the food prices are now beyond ridiculous. One meal sized salad cost us $30 , and that includes our wine Club discount! They even charged us $2 for a tiny cup of extra salad dressing. The food is good, but this is an order it at the counter restaurant, not a full service place. The wine here is very good, especially the reds. However, we don't come just for the wine. We would like to get a good meal at a fair price too. I know inflation has caused prices to rise, but this is way too much.

Some Friends of ours took us to the Robert Renzoni Vineyards to have some good wine and some food items. We sat down in an outside Patio seating area so we could see the beautiful views of the vineyards. The Winery was very crowded with people as all the tables were taken. We enjoyed some nice tasty wine and had some very tasty food items. But the Bad part of our visit was the many different server people we had and how long it took to get our order to us. It took forever to get our food orders. We were enjoying our wine while waiting, and there were a lot of people at the winery, but the winery should know that and have enough employees to take care of a large number of people. They were very disorganized in trying to get the food out to the correct tables. But we enjoyed our time with our friends.

This was our first visit to the area and our first tasting. Had reservations but that didn't seem to mean anything. Very large room that you walk into and there is no direction, welcome or indication of how things worked. We were meeting others so waited out front (very cold in show room). Once placed at the bar with a couple people sharing the pouring responsibilities we were served, but overall is was a disjointed experience. Didn't learn much and didn't feel valued as a customer.

This property is gorgeous but the experience could be more. There is a lot of history according to the website that our tasting guide could have capitalized on. She appeared to be preoccupied but was helpful.
The wines were okay but cater to the more sweet options. The tempernillo was off the chart. Music was exactly what we hoped for (classic light jazz and Rat pack).
However very loud with groups that appeared to be on their first wine tasting ever. Would not return.

Is there a restaurant for lunch? We usually eat at Ponte but would like a new suggestion
Written June 26, 2018
Our favorite wine consultant, L'Ree, responded:
YES Mama Rosa's Trattoria is open daily 12-5 and in two weeks will be open Friday & Saturday for a more "upscale" dinner service starting at 6 pm with live music!
