I went to have lunch at the Avensole Winery which formerly was the Van Roekel Winery. I used to come to the Van Roekel Winery all the time but had never been to the Avensole Winery. The restaurant at the winery is at the top of the property with a great view. And with an outside Patio type seating area you can enjoy a view of the Avensole Wine Tasting building and outside lake area, and the wine vineyards. We were nicely introduced to LuLu, the Avensole Restaurant Manager who was very nice as she sat us at a very nice table. We were then introduced to Renee our server who had a very Bubby personality, and always had a Big smile on her face. Renee also does the Bar Tending at the Restaurant. Renee answered all of our questions about the Menu with honesty, and made sure that everything on our order were delivered perfectly. Renee brought us 5 Wine tasting sample glasses, with different wines to try. We ordered a Cadillac Margarita and a glass of Sangria Wine after we tried the wine samples. Both drinks were very good. To start our lunch, we ordered some Brussels Sprouts with pomegranate reduction, goat cheese, and toasted pepitas. The Brussel Sprouts were delicious ! For our lunch we ordered a Pasta Primavera and a Smokehouse Specialty of Baby Back Ribs with 2 sides. The Pasta Primavera was delicious, but the Baby back Ribs were a little tough, and tasteless. The smoked Mac and Cheese side needed way more cheese, and the French Fries were very crispy and tasty. The Prices of the Wine and Food items at Avensole Winery Restaurant were very expensive. Our lunch for 2 people totaled right at $140.00. Nice winery with some good tasting wines with Good Service !

We just had an amazing time both on the Avensole tasting patio and then at the restaurant afterwards. We had a group of 10 of us gathering on a recent beautiful Friday afternoon. The staff was all very welcoming and went out of their way to put sofas and chairs together for our group. Our server was knowledgeable and directed us with tastes of various wines based on our preferences. My husband and I ended up ordering a bottle of the "Susan" (sauvignon blanc), which as a new release, wasn't even on the menu yet. Others in our group did a flight of reds which was beautifully presented (see pic!)
I had checked ahead and was excited that there was availability for a reservation at the restaurant right after the patio closed (5PM). Not only does Avensole have great wine, their cocktails are awesome, as well! Someone in our group recommended the lavender martini and wow, it was perfect! Several of us ordered the crab grilled cheese with tomato soup, others had the surf & turf special - all were delicious and filling! Our server was friendly and attentive. The guitarist playing on the patio provided great background music, as well. It was a totally wonderful time with new friends at a beautiful place with great people, great wine and great food!
We had been at the restaurant one other time awhile back when they were packed, and the manager Lulu was so incredibly sweet and went out of her way to fine us a spot at the bar. We had never been there before and she really made us feel welcome, despite the fact that it was a weekend and they were extremely crowded! It’s the little things like this that really make an impact…the Maya Angelou quote rings so true here: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
We will most likely join Avensole as a result of these great experiences.

beautiful winery. great wines. an interesting pinot grigio blend with sweeter gwerstimener+ riesling. chardonnay and malbec were quite tasty too. the food was really good. we had brussel spouts, a flatbread with bacon and cheese plus the $22 smokehouse burger. the service was very excellent. pretty patio and beautiful grounds.

We came to look at a few vineyards to choose a wedding venue, and had our appointment booked at Avensole for months in advance, since we were flying over from England.
We arrived and were told the person who would be showing us around was still preoccupied with her prior appointment. We of course said this was fine, and waited in the shop/bar area and were offered a drink.
15 minutes, 30 minutes... 45 minutes went by. I asked the lady at reception when we’d be able to view the venue, as we had a venue appointment after this, and had flown from England specifically to look at places, so were limited on time (which the wedding planner knew, as we had explained this via emails leading up to the appointment). We were told she’d be coming soon and was still tied up. After an hour of waiting, we left.
The lady at reception apologised briefly, but it didn’t that feel sincere. If my colleague did this, I’d be pretty embarrassed, but she didn’t seem to bothered. After we left, we received no email or anything to apologise or follow up with us.
To be honest, the bar/shop area wasn’t anything to be impressed by and we found this area quite dated and tacky. But who knows, had we been shown around, we might have a different opinion of the rest of the venue.

These guys rock! Victoria was so awesome and personable! The staff was really nice and courteous. Their set up was very Covid conscious and view are unbelievable. You MUST enjoy their sunset view. We will definitely be back and highly recommend. Their Super Tuscan blend was delicous

Friendly staff, lovely grounds, great place for lunch. Good appetizer selection and the Avensole burger is very good. The sangria is a must, sat outside with a very nice view. The only downside is the afternoon music was cancelled, that was part of the reason we pick this place as part of our first time to Temecula.

I had lunch at Avensole several years ago and remembered it as being very good so my husband and I decided to come at wine tasting and to hear the Sunday afternoon music. We made a reservation and were seated at a lovely table. The wine tasting was informative and the wines quite good. We shared a small charcuterie which was more than enough for 2. The singer was very good as well. it didn't get hot til aobut 2:30. They were good fans and misters. My only suggestion woudl be to star the music an hour earlier to avoid the heat. We will be back!

A truly lovely setting and the wines were quite nice as well. I had the "premium" red flight and found it interesting. All the offerings contained at least 40 per cent zin which is fine with me. The fortified Zin port was 100% zin. Very nice

Been to Napa, Tuscany, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Champagne for wine. So, Temecula is better than most wine regions, but not world class. Avensole is somewhat better than most in the area, but the wine is very astringent and not as complex as fine wines.

Went to Avensole for lunch and wine as our normal place for lunch at Ponte Vineyards was booked up. It was recommended by another winery. We were celebrating a birthday with our adult kids.
The service was wonderful. Justin couldn’t have been more helpful. We ordered a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate to start. Our group had meat eaters and vegetarians, so it was tasty and perfect.
Our lunch was not so good. It took forever to come out. Then my husband’s hamburger was very raw. They took it back and it was still very raw. Really raw, like the cooks just looked at it. He lost his appetite even though our waiter offered something else. My daughter and I both had different salads, but with ‘seared! Ahi. The ahi looked like the ‘sear’ was a manufactured piece of something that didn’t even taste like ahi. The winter salad that I ordered had a mushy pear on top that looked like a dead piece of flesh, so gross. The farro (guess that’s why it was called a ‘winter salad’) in the salad was also mushy and tasteless.
I think the only reason I didn’t send mine back was because I was wine tasting at another winery before and needed to eat. My hungry husband finished the lettuce for me.
The Birthday dessert they sent us for the celebrations was great. Hard to destroy pre-made cookies and whipped cream.
I guess we’ll be making reservations at Ponte very early next time.
