My wife and I booked the 2 hour group tour. Online booking process was very simple and user friendly. Filling out all the online forms ahead of time made it that much simpler on the day of the tour. The price was very competitive with other snowmobile tours. The location was easy to find, especially with the big banner displayed. The check in process on the day of the tour was quick and easy. All the staff members were exceptionally friendly, informative and helpful. We brought our own helmets, but it appeared that the helmets they provided were in good shape, and we didn’t hear anyone complain about them. Our tour guide kept the safety briefing and the operational instructions concise and easy to understand. The condition of the snowmobiles were modern, clean and well maintained. The overall competency level of the group dictated the pace of the tour, and the tour guides (lead and the tail) did a great job keeping the group together. If you listen carefully and follow their instructions, there should be no problems. My wife and I were at the head of the group, and at times, the lead guide would speed up a bit to allow us to have some fun. However, he never abandoned the group and alwasy kept them close. We only rode on the maintained trails, but it was fun nevertheless. As we climbed higher, it became more scenice and very peaceful. Normally, we’d have a chance to ride more freely on a frozen lake, but the lake was being maintained, so we didn’t get to do that. Overall, it was a great experience, and snowmobiling is tremendously fun. We’d definitely recommend Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours! And please be sure to tip the guides generously….not only are they good, but you have to appreciate the folks who choose to remain in the work force these days.

Spencer and Ryan , our tour guides gave us a fun and exciting journey through the beautiful North Lake Tahoe wilderness. The scenery spectacular! Driving the snowmobiles is so effortless, adventurous and thrilling. Spencer and Ryan did such a great job prepping us, keeping the group safe, as well as , allowing us to ride at a speed fast enough to get the thrill without endangering anyone. The team at Lake Snowmobile Tours were friendly and fantastic! Thanks Guys!

Amazing snowmobile tour! The whole operation is well organized, professional and best of all - FUN! The scenery on the trail was beautiful and the view from the peak was spectacular. The guides were professional and fun and made the trip enjoyable for every comfort level of riding. I can’t imagine a better snowmobile tour! We will do it again next time in Tahoe.

We enjoyed the snowmobile tour this morning. We were the first tour our after a snow, so we were first on the trails and making fresh tracks. It felt like we were inside a snow globe, just beautiful. My teenage son and husband each had their own machines, and my 81 year old mother ride with me. A morning to remember. They were well organized and on time and did a thorough safety presentation. Note: it was extremely bumpy in parts, not a smooth ride, so be ready. Our guides were on top of it, and the tour leader had a good personality with guests, but he was safety first.

This place does NOT follow Covid precautions. They do not wear masks
It is also very UNSAFE. They do not carry first aid kits.
I was helping an injured 10 year old boy and asked for sanitizer since his mask was off and I touched his skin. They did not have ANY...and mocked me for asking.

We had an excellent time riding snowmobiles for the first time. Easy for beginners to pick up and our guides were fun, informative and took some great photos of us to share with friends and family. The route was breathtaking. The group tour was on the larger side (about 20 people) so if we were to come back we’d try and opt for the private tour to get a little more out of the adventure, but still loved it! When we went our snowmobiles were also brand new and in great condition.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
A group of us, total 8 people went on a Saturday afternoon. We booked a 2:30 tour, and we showed up @ 1:45PM as they requested. Customer service there was pushy, made us signed the waiver before we get to inspect the equipments.
A lot of people showed up at the same time frame, so the tour didn't start until 3PM. NOT a big deal, we were still looking forward for the adventure.
We got on the road, estimated about 15 snowmobiles all together plus two guides (front and back), everyone in our group was a first timer. We were learning how to ride the snow mobiles on the slippery surface. During the whole trip, things happened really upset us.
-One friend lost control and stuck in thicker snow, so the tour guides had to help him lift and push the machine to get back onto the road. One of the tour guides lost his patience, started yelling and cussing at my friend for getting stuck.
-One friend wanted to go faster, she asked for permission from the tour guide to move to the front to ride along with the faster rides. And later my friend decided to come back and ride slower with the friends. She raised her hand (the rule) to ask for permission. The tour guide lost his patience again, and called us jack [--] and [--] for causing so much trouble.
-An older couple was riding one snowmobile, lost control, tipped over and had their legs stuck under the snowmobile. No serious injuries. The tour guide in the front was long gone with the faster riders. The tour guide in the back was not able to lift up the snowmobile by himself, so my friend (who was previously stuck in the thicker snow), he helped to lift the snowmobile and saved the older couple.

Conclusion, their customer service is horrible, rude, under staffed, unprofessional, and maybe even racist. I will try snowmobile again, but never with this company! And I will tell every friend of mine, save your money and go somewhere else.

This tour was our WORST ever experience. This place deserves 0 rating.

Here's me and my wife's story:

1: We reached well before time for the 2:30 pm tour on Easter Day (2/27/2016)
2: We checked in around 2:00 pm. There was a old guy at the counter who seemed to be drunk.
3: After checking in, we just said to the old guy that 'we are beginners and we have never tried snowmobile. We hope it will be fine'
4: After hearing this, he said 'Seriously? Have you ever driven a motorbike or ATV or something?'. I said 'No ATV, but I have driven motorbike. My wife don't have any experience.'
5: My wife was little skeptical from start but she wanted to try. But this old guy, instead of encouraging, started saying negative right from the start. He said 'I guess you should reconsider your decision. We can give you guys a refund and I advise you not to consider the tour. Last thing we want is to call 911, get a helicopter and rescue you guys if you are stuck somewhere.' This is one of the worst EVER comment/advise I heard from someone.
6: Hearing this my wife was totally discouraged but I told her to try and go for it. If she doesn't feel comfortable, we can try Double Rider.
7: Normally 2 guides are assigned to any group. (1 guide will be at the very start and other at the end) One of the guide explained how the snowmobile works and all. He then said whoever has tried this before should be at the start (which seemed to be right as fast rider might get stuck if the driver ahead of him is going slow)
8: Me and my wife went to the end as we knew it will take time for us to get used to.
9: Tour started.
1 of the guide went ahead with the people who started smoothly. Me and my wife were left behind. Still the other guy went ahead say 200-300 meters and was waiting over there. My wife was able to drive properly. I was trying to get a feel and in my case my snowmobile was going to the left (may be because there was a slope). I wanted to ask this to the guide why is it going to the left and he was nowhere near me.
10: My wife reached where he was waiting for us. The guide said to her 'I don't think you guys can make it as its looking difficult. Other group has already went ahead and you guys can't catch them now' She said we just started and let us try again.
11: Till that time, I reached and he said me the same thing. I said I am confident but it will take time as this is my first time. He said 'he can't wait so long. You can return back and we will return you back the money' I said let me try again.
12: Again he went ahead and this time i had to drive a bit faster because of which I went too much to the left. And that was it. He said you guys should return back as you guys seems to be nervous. This was really annoying as none of us was nervous. He gave a ride to my wife back to the starting point. He came back for me. I again asked him can we try double rider and he was like we don't want you to hurt yourself and all. Then I asked him 'Can you please tell why the snowmobile was going to the left? He started driving with his right hand and said look I can drive with my right hand. You were very nervous. I was like what the hell. I said I am the beginner and how can you judge with 300-400 meters that I can't drive.
13: I again asked the old guy can we try again? He said the same thing and gave us back the refund. He suggested take a personal trainer next time.

This was one of my worst ever experience!! I just wonder how this place has 4.5 star rating. May be I chose a wrong day as my friends who were beginners had a great experience. It was just not our day. Also, it was not like we were very pathetic in driving. There was so much negativism everywhere.

For Beginners, I doubt if this is a good place to start. Better try for Zephyr Cove Snow Mobile.

This place deserves a big 0. Never returning to this place ever.

While on vacation, I looked for and called several different places looking for an afternoon snowmobile tour. It took me about 5 phone calls to realize that there was not enough snow for the tours and all locations offering snowmobile tours were closed. However, this company was particularly rude when I called asking to book a tour. They spoke to me in a very demeaning way and as if it was my fault there was not enough snow… I am not from an area where it snows, ever, so I was unfamiliar with what conditions were ideal or even necessary for snowmobiling. If we do go back to the Lake Tahoe area for skiing, I will be sure NOT to use this company for a snowmobile tour.

Was looking forward to snowmobiling for the first time. Was disappointed from the start. The entire process was so poorly organized that was difficult to even get in the mood to have fun. Signup process was a total disaster with no organization what did ever. Was not sorry that I did. It but would never do it again at this place.
