My family and our friends had a blast. There was a lot to do and plenty of opportunities for most ages/difficulty levels. Although age range is 5+, my 6 year old (usual) daredevil daughter did not like it. Just something to consider as the cost is worth it, if you actually get to go. My husband and I split our time to hang out with her so we didn’t get our money’s worth, but not the park’s fault! They did everything they could to help my daughter become more comfortable, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The rest of us went on all three difficulty levels and had a blast. It was challenging and a good workout. I will definitely go back.

Additionally, we are doing very little during this pandemic and really asked a lot of questions before heading there. I found the activity to be safe. People wore masks where they were supposed to, there was hand sanitizer at the end of every course, people were not allowed to be on platforms at the same time if they were not family and people abided by these rules. It was easy to keep distance. I highly recommend going early as possible and giving yourself plenty of time to get there if you are coming from another part of the lake. Our friends got stuck in a nasty traffic holdup and ended up late.

There is something for all skill levels at all ages here. The guides were very knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. Our daughter had never done a zip line / ropes course and was very hesitant when we first arrived. Once going through the instruction and the practice zip line she jumped right in and made it through the beginner courses and some of the intermediate courses with ease. Both my daughter and I had a great time and I would definitely recommend this to any family looking for a unique experience when visiting the area.

Wow! Just Wow! This place is magical! We visited the Tahoe Vista location with 2 adults and our 8.5 year old adventurous daughter! I loved that the experience was self guided and yet there was plenty of encouraging staff on the ground to assist us with tips to get across some of the harder obstacles, and to monitor safety. We had only done Ziplining once before in Hawaii, and the value for money here was way better! It's unlimited zipping and obstacling for a whole 2.5 hours! We were able to complete 8 out of the 9 courses they offer, and it took up closer to 3 hours with just one short water break. Even on a Saturday afternoon in the summer, there was a very limited crowd of people in our session, and we felt the COVID precautions were on point. Plenty of social distancing to be had when you're 50 feet above ground! The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, and we absolutely loved the experience. As a reasonably fit adult, I was able to make it across the 2 hardest courses, but I'm not gonna lie, it was NOT easy! Knowing there is no way to fall to the ground gave me the courage to conquer these challenging courses. My 8.5 year old did them too, but she struggled on a few areas. One staff person on the ground began coaching her by name and encouraging her and that really gave it the personal touch. We can't wait to go back on our next trip to Tahoe! Apparently they're open year round! Well done Tahoe Treetop Adventure Parks!

We are a family of 5. Began the course and immediately had to stop due to inclement weather as required by the company. We were told to go to front desk for next steps since we had paid for a full experience that we had not been able to use. After standing in line for over 45 minutes waiting we were informed that a refund not granted and we could use a credit for another time. This was not possible for us as I explained to them because we do not live in the area, were going to not be in Lake Tahoe to use anytime soon.
The company refused to return our money and stated that they had the right to keep it.

The company is aware of thunder storms in the area, and have been shutting down the course frequently due to such we were informed when trying to get a refund. We would have appreciated them telling us prior to us purchasing the tickets and getting suited up to do the course. That way we could have decided how to proceed and would NOT have purchased tickets for that moment.

CONSUMER BEWARE if you decide to go do so in the morning before poor weather or be prepared to throw away hundreds of dollars for an unused experience.

We were very disappointed.

Hi, I'll provide an update regarding this situation. Thunderstorms do occasionally happen in the summer, the weather changes quickly here. During the 3rd and 4th week of July we had approx. 4 - 5 thunderstorms. We had to pull participants from the courses due to lightning on most of those days. Typically, we wait for 30 minutes to an hour and are able to resume the climbing and zip lining fun. The few people that wait are treated to empty courses just after a rainstorm, a "powder day" in the aerial adventure park world. After our last storm, the 9 people that waited enjoyed blue skies, the fresh smells of the forest after a rain storm, empty courses, and a rainbow! Incredible! Thunder and lighting storms are particularly stressful for my staff and site managers. The storms blow in quickly and we need to get 80 - 100 people off the courses, out of the trees, and to a safe spot while we wait it out. On this day, we had a new manager working and this was his first lightning storm. Our policy (written on the website, sent to every person in the email confirmation) is not hard to find. Patrons can wait it out, or get a refund or credit depending on how much time had elapsed in their session when we had to close the courses. Nobody walks away empty-handed. On this day, our manager struggled and didn't call for help soon enough. He was attempting to figure out which sessions were eligible for refunds, which for 100% credits, and which for 50% credits. It didn't help to have customers yelling at him. It didn't help to have one customer vow to "meet him in the parking lot later." This resulted in longer than usual wait times and him saying some things he shouldn't have. We debriefed this experience with the manager afterwards and coached him about how to better handle these situations. He learned a lot from the experience and we should have been better. As our reviews indicate, we usual do a great job - but not always, we're human. When our site manager did call for help, my office manager helped him give a 100% credit to this customer. Despite not living in the area and it being "not possible" for them to use a credit for another time, they booked a session for 2 days later. Despite being "very disappointed", they added an adult to the revised session. The new reservation was made on this day, presumably before this review was written. As far as the title, Buyer Beware, goes - I couldn't agree more! I wish more people would perform some due diligence before signing up. Before spending hundreds of dollars on an experience, check the weather and the weather policy to make sure you can live with it. This customer, and all customers, can access the same weather forecasts as us. I don't know how we are supposed to notify somebody of impending weather while they make an online reservation on their phone in their car. Same goes for people that only want to do zip lines, beware, this is not what we are offering. Read the website, please! We called this customer after the revised session to apologize for how this all went down and to make sure they had an enjoyable experience the second time. They did.

We were back for our 2nd visit (3.5 years later) and loved it just as much the second time. Our kids ages 9 and 12 only completed the flying squirrel courses last time, but were big enough to go on all the courses this time. We completed all of the courses (I struggled most with the rings challenge, but got through it ... my more athletic children had an easier time with it).

The harness system they use is the best for young kids!! once they are strapped in, they slide their trolley onto the line at the start of each course and they can pretty much forget about it. There’s no clipping in and out of each obstacle. It’s really easy and safe for kids!!

Last time we went in spring and this time in winter. The walking areas to get from course to course were slippery due to snow and ice, which was okay for those of us completing the course, but it was a bit rough for our spectators who were not completing the course.

All of the employees are really helpful. They are great at teaching the safety features, and they are helpful at giving advice on the course if someone gets stuck (my nephew got stuck on an obstacle and they helped talk him through getting un-stuck).

Make a reservation ahead of time and go, it's worth the $$!!

Glad you made it back for another visit, thanks for the comprehensive review. To be clear, in between your visits we switched our belay system (safety system) to be all continuous belay so it's consistent through the whole park. We also rebuilt many courses and reset the safety cable throughout the park. This has allowed us to eliminate having different zones, Flying Squirrel for kids and Monkey for adults. Now, all courses are available to all participants. (the two black diamonds have a 49" height requirement) The experience flows much better now and families get to stay together! FYI - very few people are able to do the Rings event, and even less do it without struggling. :) You're not alone. Hope to see you again!

Tahoe Vista location: The length and difficulty of courses were great. It can just take a lot of time when the party in front of you is struggling, as you have to wait for them to go on to the next event or zip line before you can move on. Spent a lot of time waiting. Lakeview course was my favorite. The black diamonds are definitely challenging, so maybe advise an age limit for those? There were some littler kids on there who really struggled with the events part of the course. Some of it required the ability to reach far to grab on to the next rope or wood piece, which the smaller kids can't do. Then you end up waiting for them to try to finish, but they get really scared.

My husband and I had a blast trying to keep up with our teenage sons as we completed obstacle courses and zip-lined through the treetops at Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park. Reservations were easy to make online; when I wanted to change our time slot, they were prompt and responsive by email. The initial gear setup was well organized and brief tutorial clearly delivered, giving us courage and assurance before our adventure. Enjoyed conquering our fears, gaining confidence, and bonding with our boys! Highly recommend.

This is such a wholesome, fun way to spend a few hours as a family. The folks who run the Ropes/zip lines courses are such professionals and make it really fun and safe!!! We didn’t feel nervous about covid because of all the precautions they take. My kids are obsessed with the course so we went in July and then again just as snow season started this month. Both experiences were wonderful! We have all embraced our inner-dare devils, even my shy 7 year old and extra tiny 5 year old. Worth every penny!

Fantastic fantastic ropes course and excellent, kind staff.

I've been to a lot of ropes courses. I like this one a lot. The safety system is beyond easy. Rather than double-clipping, you're just on a zip line track the entire time. This is nice for young kids.

They rate their courses: green, blue, black, with 2 green, 2 black, and maybe 10 blue? I'm not sure. In any case, for me, the blacks were definitely challenging, but doable. I'm a non-athletic mom in her 40s. It felt good to accomplish the blacks.

Meanwhile, this is just really good family fun. Kids are challenged by the obstacles, but have a ton of fun on all of the ziplines.

Finally, the staff is so kind. After having a hard time on the "hardest black" (there are only 2!), a staff member walked me along the "easier black" to talk me through what would be hard/easy and why. It was very very kind of him.

Also, in terms of covid-19 transmission, this felt like one of the safest forms of entertainment ever. You're never really close to other human beings, unless you go up with someone from your household and try to stay together. Everyone wore masks during "ground school" making it really feel ultra safe.

I loved it. Well worth the money!!!

I was hesitant at first to sign up because of the pandemic but the staff at Tahoe Treetop have protocols in place to address the need for social distancing and sanitizing equipment. Hand sanitizers are also placed at the end of each course.

Anyway, we had so much fun doing the course. They have 3 levels of difficulty: green [easy], blue [medium difficulty] and black [challenging]. We started with the green course just to make sure we knew how to use the equipment then went on the blue courses and with the last hour went on the black courses. I never thought I'd be walking a tight rope or hanging on rope ladders while above ground but that's what Tahoe Treetop incorporates in their ziplines. I'm sore but it's all worth it.

On a separate note, the parking lot that leads to Tahoe Treetop has $5 parking fee. There's a short yellow post where you drop an envelope. The restrooms are clean and there's also a water fountain. There's also a large covered area in the property with benches where you can wait for your party or bring a picnic basket.

Thanks for the review, we really appreciate the acknowledgment of the efforts we've made to address Covid, it's been a lot. Many reviews are mentioning this - so thanks! A quick note - The $5 entrance/parking fee for the North Tahoe Regional Park is included in your Tahoe Treetop reservation. You do not need to pay this fee if you have a reservation for Tahoe Treetop. It is intended for those using the park for other purposes, such as disc golf, etc. The sign at the entrance does mention this - although it's in the fine print. I've been trying to get the NTPUD to update the sign so it's more visible. Thanks!
