What a view!

Found this by accident after missing a turn for a restaurant. We were so overwhelmed by the view and the beauty of Emerald Bay.

A "must" stop for visitors to Lake Tahoe. Informative placards at the site and a breathtaking view. The road is a bit winding from South Shore. It's a bit easier from Tahoe City.

Inspiration Point lookout is directly across the street from the trail head to Cascade Falls. Early in the morning was a perfect time to go. As the day goes on the parking gets tough but totally worth stopping and enjoying the view of Emerald Bay. Bring your camera and take LOTS of pictures!! You won't regret this stop one bit!!

Small parking lot, lots of turn over, so few minutes and park. Short walk to view lake and water fall. Well worth the time to stop and enjoy

This was our first stop when visiting Tahoe. Absolutely stunning views of Emerald Bay! Area is busy, but still able to soak up the beauty. There is a small parking lot here (free), a snack truck, and bathrooms (just a seat with a whole in the ground; very smelly). Short ride over to Eagle Falls and Vikingsholm trails.

Really nice view of Emerald Bay. The color difference is most noticeable in the middle of the day. Make sure to drive down to Eagle Falls, which can be seen from inspiration point, you can get up close with the falls and get some neet pictures.

There are several places around the lake with great views, but this is probably the most accessible drive-up view. There are informational displays that tell the story of the lake and the area. There is lots of parking, but it still fills up quickly in the summer. The best part is the view over Emerald Bay. There are better views,... More

For all the people that are reading this and aren't from the area please remember this. Stop walking along the road, stop parking in really stupid spots, just use your logic when in these areas. Also if you're old please don't go for a hike in your kakis and loafers...that's how you get hurt. That's why the locals don't like... More

Incredible views...amazing place for pictures and some hiking. Take the trip up. Unfortunately, they were doing construction when we were there and the traffic was bad...hopefully that will be over soon. Still worth the trip though!

The view is amazing, there's no doubt about that. The only issues are parking, which there is very little of, and there are a ton of people crowded around. Later in the afternoon there may be less people, but they'll still be in your pics!
