A lovely setting reached by a winding road through some spectacular scenery. The view is truly magical. The hike down to Emerald Bay was good exercise, but the mansion was closed for the season and, in retrospect, I'd say the hike was not all that interesting.

Gary Chaney of Chaney House recommended we do the hike down to Emerald Bay from Inspiration Point. The hike is worth it - but all downhill on the way in and all up on the way out. Not a problem for us and great views of the bay as we descended and ascended, the walk punctuated with small trail side... More

This has a closer view of the Island in Emerald Bay compared to the State Park, however the view of the rest of the lake is more obstructed. I preferred the state park view, but both are very easy to get to. Went on a weeknight just before sunset and had no issues with parking, although the lot is small... More

It is a good view to stop by and either relax and enjoy or take some pictures. Only issue is with limited parking.

You won't be able to capture on film the expansive panoramic view that is on show here! This is a MUST STOP PHOTO OP!! The view wraps from behind your left shoulder with forest and mountains competing for visual attention then sweeps to the valley and foreshore floor, outwards across the lake beyond the 180o to rise again up and... Just incredible views of Emerald Bay! The problem is that the parking lot is fairly small. On a Tuesday in October, my husband circled the parking lot for 10 minutes without being able to park. I did get out to see the views and take pictures. The road here from South Lake Tahoe is also gorgeous - at one point... More

This is truly one of the most beautiful viewpoints I have ever experienced. It is very crowded and small but the turn around happens fast so just be patient waiting for a parking spot. It is worth THE WAIT! Stunning views!

Worth stopping and taking a seat on the provided benches. Very windy but worth taking a moment to enjoy.

You must go early, like 8 a.m. By 10-11 a.m no parking anywhere, even along the side of the road for a mile in either direction. Spoiled our time because we could not find a parking spot. Lovely view of Emerald Bay; one of us got out and looked at the view while the other kept driving. Wanted to do... More
