After many bike rides around lake tahoe in the woods and close to the lake, this was a welcome change to see this beautiful river. Parked at the Squaw Valley Rec. park at the intersection of Squaw Valley Road and Hwy. 89. Rode the path...More

We rode our bikes from Alpine Meadows to Squaw Valley, Tahoe City, Sugar Pine Point, West Shore Cafe and Sunnyside Restaurant. You ride along the Truckee River for miles. Fun to watch the people rafting as you are biking.

This is a premier trail around Tahoe for walking, biking or running. It hugs the Truckee River the entire way from Tahoe City to the entrance of the Squaw Valley ski resort. There are porta-johns along the way and large sections of the trail have...More

This trail runs right along the Truckee River from Tahoe City to the Squaw Valley ski resort. Several places to stop to sit alongside the river to rest or picnic. Weekends are busy with many rental bikes, walkers, strollers, so caution is advised. But, no...More

We live in Reno and always forget what we have in our own backyard. Beautiful bike ride then had a great lunch in Tahoe City and road back to river ranch and finished with a cold beer and rum runner!!

This is a gem of a bike trail. It was an effortless ride with e-bikes and should be non-challenging with regular bikes. The trail is lovely, running right along the river, where you'll see both calm waters and rapids. It is completely away from traffic,...More

Stunning scenery all the way along the cycle path into Tahoe city from Squaw Valley. Follow the route on around either side of the lake for a longer ride. Really pretty ride that we did several times. Hire a bike or e-bike from Mountain Mikes...More

I don't think there is a prettier rail trail in California. The Truckee River is absolutely beautiful. The trail is well paved and an easy ride for families with children. Very scenic.

In Tahoe City there IS parking at the transportation center. It’s on CA89 just over the bridge over the Truckee River. You can enter the trail from there. On the other end, you can park in the Squaw Valley ski resort lot and... More
