I like that this is a self guided tour and free. The exhibits are well thought out and provide a great look back in history. There is a nice gift shop as well.

Something to show the kids in between wine tastings. Has a replica of the original Bear Flag, and recreation of barracks life when Sonoma was the northerly city of Mexico.

Walking distance from the Plaza, it's not big, but the visit was well worthy. It's important to learn and understand the history of California, and it's wonderful to see the California Republic flag in person, not just from a T-shirt.

Wow, we learned so much here! The State of California actually got its start here in Sonoma with the Bear Flag Revolt! The Barracks will teach you a lot so give them a try!

We took the trolley tour, all arrived early so Our drive took Us through the barracks. Interesting artifacts and history.

These barracks belonged originally by the Mexicans. It was named: El Cuartel de Sonoma. Eventually, the barracks were taken by the American Immigrants. These barracks became their headquarters. The first flag of the California Republic was made in these barracks. The flew the bear flag...More
