We stopped in while checking out Sonoma. It was before the movie was to start and they were gracious enough to let us look around. We learned the theater was built during the depression by Samuele Sebastiani in 1933 who spared no expense. When it opened, tickets were 30 cents. The theater has had history of money issues that have made it struggle to survive... but it still survives to provide cultural experiences to the people of Sonoma... thanks to Sebastiani's dream.

We experienced this old place during the recent Sonoma International Film Festival and were so impressed! I love the "throwback" atmosphere and the "old time" ambience. If you are in Sonoma and have the opportunity, you must spend some time here!

Completed in 1934, the theater, rocking an Italian Renaissance style, was designed by famous architect James W. Reid, who also designed the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. Movies and other events are still presented here. For its day, it offered the innovation of air conditioning. To my taste, this is one of the most interesting buildings on the Plaza. The never blinking Trixe seems to offer tickets from the classic ticket booth at the entrance 24/7. Definitely worth a walk by, plan to check out the inside for a show if you get a chance.

We went to the the Sebastiani Theatre to see a beautiful musical show. The theatre has a lovely entry and the bathrooms are large and have places to sit while waiting. The seats in the theatre are very comfortable with plenty of space to get up and get to the aisles. The acoustics are very good as well. There is a wide range of programs, shows, movies and other, so keep you eyes out for things happening here.
