About
At Schug we are proud to carry on our family’s 100-year-old tradition of hand-crafted Pinot Noir. From our roots in Germany and now as 30-year stewards of the land at our Carneros Estate, we follow in the footsteps of our Father and Founder, winemaking pioneer Walter Schug. By honoring our decades-old, handshake commitments with local farmers throughout Sonoma County, coupled with techniques handed down through the generations, we make wines known the world over for their grace and balance. We hope they find a place on your table, in meals with family and friends, creating memories that share in the Heritage passed on from our Mom & Dad.

Went to Schug in September 2022 with my fam and my gf for a tour of the winery, its cave, and a tasting inside the cave. Such a wonderful experience with Jamie, who imparted a ton of information about the estate, the winemaking process, and the Schug family history. The wines we sampled were all delightful, particularly the white Pinot and the cab franc blend. The food pairings were also so delicious! Would highly recommend, especially if you can get a tour with Jamie!

Schug has a very nice Chardonnay and a wonderfully small tasting room that I like so much better that the big wineries. We had great service from a young man who was knowledgeable and friendly.. I think his name was Frank. If you want to see what Napa was like 20+ years ago...try Schug!

Schug offers a great cave setting to enjoy their wine tasting experience! Kyle, our guide, provided an outstanding tour and explanation of the wines we tasted while seated in an intimate cave room. We would definitely return to Schug Winery upon a return trip to the wine country and would highly recommend to those that wish to experience something a little different than your average, everyday winery.

First of all let me say that Schug has good wines and I've purchased their wine during my previous visits. I had memorable times at the old wine tasting room with the previous staff. I believe they had a few elderly gentlemen that are sweet and charming. I wish I could say the same about the current staff. In particular, I do like to point out their Outreach and Estate concierge manager (Jamie) was not so hospitable. Wine tasting is an experience that comprises of wine and the memories built around it. Thereby, I certainly do not recommend Schug for their lack of hospitality which is a bit disheartening as they do make memorable wines. In the interim, I do recommend a visit to Anaba or Gloria Ferrer for their wines and hospitality.

Rakesh, Thank you for the positive comments about our wines and your past memorable times at our Estate. Concerning your most recent experience, we apologize for any miscommunication and misunderstanding. We regret that we weren't able to seat your large party since it exceeded 6 people and therefore went against COVID restrictions and policies. We would love to have the opportunity to host you with a smaller group in the future! And please do not hesitate to reach out to me as well. Claudia Schug, Owner

Worth making your way off the main streets to visit this place. Their pinot is excellent and it was even better to drink a glass outside with live music.

**Keep in mind they don't have space for parties larger than 5 unless you pre-book.**

So glad we started our day at Shug. The views of Sonoma Valley were incredible- take a photo while you are here. And the wine is amazing- I had always been a fan of their Pinot but really enjoyed trying their Savingnon Blanc while we were there so much that we bought some. Staff couldn't be friendlier- a "must-do"!

Schug Carneros is located on a very pretty piece of land. The tour was average (short) and the tasting room was small.

Really nice venue and a great experience wine tasting.

My favorite was the 2016 Sonoma Coast Sauvignon Blanc. I also really liked the 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Sangiacomo Vineyard.

Small tasting room so if your party is more than 6 I suggest calling to arrange special area.

Our party of four enjoyed this wine very much.

Had a great tasting with Tom who knew a lot about the vineyard. The tasting room was a little small but I really liked the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir Reserve.
