We had high expectations given all the great reviews, but we were not impressed with the wines or the grounds. At $50 a tasting, it is the most expensive we've seen in Sonoma County, and not worth it for mediocre wines. Of the five wines, we liked one, their Cactus Hill Pinot, but there are lots of other better Pinot's for less than $80/bottle.

On the upside, our host was great - friendly and knowledgable. but could not make up for our disappointment in our visit.

Newlyweds traveling from Texas to California because the weather is cooler. The winery was gracious enough to take us without a reservation. They made our first ever wine tasting experience a lovely one. The facility is beautiful and the wines were delicious. If you are ever in the area I’d suggest you check them out.

This is a must see. Our server, Arthur was witty and hospitable. It was so peaceful that I could have spent the entire day at this winery. There were beautiful views - a little eclectic with a Greek parthenon-feel, and lots of rolling countryside. The wine was wonderful and priced just right.

We visited this winery this past Sun and opted for the private tasting of 5 wines for $20/pp. We enjoyed our tastings out on their back patio area which has panoramic views of the vineyards and very pretty scenery. There is also another tasting room that was much more busy.

We sampled one Rose, 3 Pinot Noirs and a very good Merlot, this a great place to relax, there are also picnic tables dotted around the property on the hills. Loved this place!

On a five winery tour, this was by far the standout. The owner was extremely kind and interesting and our tour guide was fantastic. The wine was just as good as the rest of the experience. Very few wineries that I would want to go back and spend time at again. This one makes the list though

Nice start to a tour, but then the Manger of the Winery put 11 people in an elevator made for a maximum of 8 and stuck those tourists in there for 45 minutes. This was proven to be a shattering for a man who became scared of small spaces. When our Guide pressed the Owner to Compensate the 22 people who signed up for the tour from the Disney Wonder, he flatly refused 3 times, then invited everyone in the store to buy wine. Yeah. We left. Rather insulting, really.

Absolutely horrible experience at this winery. The premise is good. Walk the path a grape takes by pouring a taste then going into the vineyard, pouring another taste, going into the processing area, pouring another taste and getting into an elevator that is CLEARLY MARKED "MAXIMUM capacity 8" with a winery employee who ignored the sign. "It's fine! We do this all the time!" 40 min. later (thanks to an elevator service man) the doors opened. So, tour ruined for 11 people IN the elevator AND for 11 people from our group NOT in the elevator. No, we were NOT offered a complimentary bottle of wine. No, we were not offered a complimentary GLASS of wine. No, we were not offered a discount on a purchase. Steer clear of Nicholson Ranch. Do NOT get in their elevator!

This is a fine mid-sized winery with a lovely ambiance, fantastic view, and really nice owner, Deepak, who got us all set up for a picnic we'd brought with a cheese board and knife despite that we only bought one bottle of wine, but what a good bottle it was! Nice staff as well. Very sincere and not pushy about selling wine compared with area tasting rooms, so a great energy. We liked the wines but noticed the estate wines were best, not surprisingly: I highly, highly recommend the estate chardonnay, and trust me, I've tasted many in the area, and it struck me as one of the best. The estate pinot noir is also solid. The grounds are eclectic and enchanting, with picnic areas, ponds, and a really California feel. An all-around great experience, so we've been twice now. It's definitely worth a stop along any good wine tour that isn't more than just a surface dip. If you live in area, it's well worth a picnic... and you are welcome to bring your dog, incidentally, since it's apparently a dog-friendly winery. There's something about it that's hard to put my finger on, but I really like this winery. It's not as showy as some. The gift shop isn't bursting at the seems. But it's a great winery with a beautiful grounds, a pond, and a waterfall in the winter, and of course great wine with obvious care given to the blends.

As I noted in another post, I'm pretty much a wine novice, and I finally gave up trying to identify which 2 or 3 wineries to visit in Sonoma would be best for a newbie. This is not it. I'm sure this is a great place for someone who knows their wine (and my rating isn't for the wine, it's for my own comfort level). I felt silly and out of place; was relieved when we finished our tasting and could leave.

Very exciting place when you can go into a cave that stores the barrels and then sit in a room that makes you feel like a king or queen! We did the tour to get this! Plus sampled 6 wines during. Very knowledgeable people too.
