There is a cozy corner in downtown Solvang that houses a veritable emporium of wonders for lover's of literature & smart puzzles & games. After shopping the farmer's market last Wed, I wandered into the not so secret garden of literate delights that is the Book Loft. What a joy! The staff were friendly & helpful & the warren of bookshelves contained just about anything one might want. Perhaps plan a visit before shopping the market as dawdling amongst rhe mant wonders might result in wilting of the produce you have in your basket. Lol

The history behind the well known stories like The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen and The Princess and The Peach is in this historical nurseryman. It’s above the Book Loft where you can purchase books and books by the famous Hans Christian Andersen

The Book Loft is a wonderful small bookstore crammed with books. It is tidy and has a great variety of books for all ages. We went to see the Hans Christian Andersen museum that is above the book store. It is small but packs a lot of information into the space. We spent nearly an hour there, part of which was deciding which version of his complete works we wanted to invest in. The woman at the desk was very helpful and very knowledgeable about his works. Depending on the age of your children and previous experience with them in libraries or book stores, they might find the museum interesting. Two of my grandchildren would love it, the rest, not so much. Overall we enjoyed our visit. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

The bookstore was a good size, it had plenty of popular children's books + adult books. I went there with my family and the children loved it! They kept on reading for a long time. It is perfect for a family. The books are well-organized and the staff friendly. A good collection considering the size. The bookstore is attached to the Hans Andersen museum, which is always a plus. Consider this a pit stop if the children are getting restless or if it is rainy/cold outside.

This bookstore had everything I like in a bookstore. It had a large variety of books, different languages, used and new books. Even the kids books had a large variety!! You have to check it out if you are a book lover like I am. It also has a tiny history spot upstairs with signed books and handwritten old letters! The stafd was very helpful and nice.
