Very educational and cool to see the different and older motorcycles. There is a $ 10 entrance fee . It's a short walk from the main street , but after eating that's a good thing

Great motorcycle collection
Sep 2019
When you are a motorcycle enthusiastic this is definitely a place you have to visit. On any given moment there are around 100 motorcycles on display and they all are in meticulous shape. We spend around an hour and were treated to great stories from the lady managing the museum. The museum has limited opening hours, but when you call ahead they will open the museum especially for you.

Thank you for your great review of the Museum. I am so delighted that you enjoyed your visit to the Museum. I am pleased that you enjoyed the stories. I'm not a mechanic but I have been with the Museum since its beginnings and the stories I retell are usually more of the human interest stories. I have learned so much from our visitors as well. It's a pleasure opening the Museum during the week for visitors between the hours of 11-3 and it's as easy as a phone call. If you don't reach me on the office phone, there is an alternate cell phone number to call. Of course, we are also open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 - 4:00. Have a really wonderful day and thank you again for reaching out with such a great review

Nice selection

Wonderful collection of bikes. For $10 admission you get a interesting tour given by a charming lady. She knew quite a bit about the collection's history and what she was unsure about she read off the cards in front of each bike. There are some iconic cycles here. 55 triumph like James Dean had, Crocker, and some early Indians and Hendersons. If your a motorcycle enthusiast you should check it out in Solvang.

Dear c202 Thank you so much for your positive review. It is always a pleasure for me to open the Museum during the week. I enjoy meeting visitors and talking about the motorcycles. Yes, there are times when I need to refer to the signs for particular specific information on some of the more than 100 motorcycles in the Museum. But the real enjoyment for me is meeting the visitors and being able to share the experience of viewing the rarest of rare motorcycles in the Museum. Thank You

This place is a gem! An incredible collection of motorcycle history. All are in beautiful condition, and well captioned. The docent was very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject! Definitely recommending this to friends.

Dear Tim, Thank you for your wonderful review. It is always such a pleasure when visitors enjoy taking a step back in time to view the history and see the inherent beauty of the incredible motorcycles in this collection of rare and extraordinary Factory Race motorcycles and street motorcycles from all over the world. It is a pleasure being able to share the experience of this with our visitors. Kind Regards

been there before and still amazed at the selection in this strip mall/office facility, not easy to find, look for suite 202, best access off teh street, spend some time, not the weird hours, a must if you ride, and if you don;t you should!

Hi Mike, So sorry we are hard to find. Yes, 320 Alisal Road, Suite 202, Solvang, CA. The City of Solvang won't allow us to put any signs out on the street. I try to give the best directions I can when someone calls. Yes, I usually advise people to take their time when they come to the Museum because at any given time, there may be 100 motorcycles to look at. I wish that all Travel related websites would allow me to post our specific hours, which are: Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and during the week by appointment any time between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I open the Museum nearly every day during the week. Some people send an email to make an appointment and some people call. I always try my best to accommodate everyone. Thank you for taking the time to write a nice review for the Solvang Viintage Motorcycle Museum

Great museum

This the second time we have been. Great bikes spanning 100+ years. The museum needs some souvenirs and it’s a shame the bikes are so close making photography difficult. A must visit.

Dear Taranaki2014 Thank you for your positive review. I am sorry we don't sell souvenirs but the owner prefers that the emphasis be on the extraordinary motorcycles themselves. And the reason the bikes are so close together is that we try to fit as many bikes from the owner's collection into the Museum for people to see. Thank you for your visit and your review. All the best,

So cool

We weren’t sure the motorcycle museum would be on our way, but we made a slight adjustment to make it happen. It is really quite an impressive collection...you can’t even imagine the number and models that are included in this private collection. If you are remotely into motorcycles, or not, you should make this stop if you are close-by.

Dear LookingforGilligan, Thank you for your great review of the Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum. The Collection has become known worldwide now and we have people visiting from many different countries to see the extraordinarily rare bikes. I am happy to say that the Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum has become a Destination for Solvang. We are actually bringing people to Solvang to look at the incredible collection and then they head out and check out all of the other things to do in Solvang. Thank you again

Awesome Personal Collection shared
Jan 2019 • Solo
Visited here earlier today: Solvang Motorcycle Museum, turns out all the bikes are owned by one guy, but at least he is sharing it! Load of stuff you've only ever heard about.

Amongst the Black Shadows, Aerial Square fours, various Vincent, Norton, Triumph, RC30, Ducati, Aeromachi, Kawasaki, AJS, Moto Guzzi V8, signed race bikes, there was some weird designs from just about every period.

Recommended if you are in the area. Solvang is pretty cool too, Danish style in the middle of California. Apparently only half the collection is in the museum, and the owner regularly swaps bikes around. Awesome if you are in any way into bikes.

Thank you, Neil, I am really glad that you enjoyed the really diverse collection of motorcycles. Yes, we have some motorcycles from eras that have come and gone and would have all but been forgotten if they weren't in the Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum. Like the 1904 Mitchell - it rarely gets mentioned in the history of American Motorcycles, and the 1940 Crocker, a real gem. Thank you for your recommendation. Kindest Regards

I've been to the Barber Motorsports Museum in Leeds, Alabama; and, I've seen a collection on display by the Guggenheim Museum when it was in Las Vegas. The Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum has in their collection many motorcycles I have never seen in other collections, nor have I heard their name. This is worth stopping in to see the many motorcycles on display. Not all of the collection is on display at one time. The owner rotates the collection to keep the exhibit fresh and new.

Hello Dennis, Thank you so much for the great review. I really enjoyed your group and talking with you. It was obvious from the outset that you all knew far more about the actual mechanics of the motorcycles than I do. I know their histories and all the stories about former owners, racers, etc. But you and your group really were the highlight of my day. Thank you and I hope that you will visit again soon. Warm Regards, Jill

Dear Cheri Thank you for your lovely review. I am so glad you enjoyed the variety of extraordinary rare motorcycles in the Museum. We hope you will return again because that is only half of the owner's collection! So, we do rotate motorcycles in and out. Wishing you good tidings of great joy, Jill
