My wife and i really enjoyed visiting here. The view is gorgeous! The visitor center has plenty of information about the dam and surrounding area. The grounds are very nice. Lots of picnic tables and paved walkways make for easy walking. Ample parking for cars and rv's. Admission is free but donations are welcomed if you like. They also have... More

Its a very scenic place.... quiet and quite a panoramic view. You can bring your lunch or snacks... and have a nice picnic here.. :) We visited Shasta Dam as well, you can actually walk down on dam... also there is small educational tour of how the Hydro-electric plant works... for this you need to buy tickets at the entrance.

The water looks great when we visited this May. Stunning view on the way to dam. Spent little time on the lake, enjoy the relax environment with friends. Worth to coming back again. Recommend if you visit around area.

The water level looked pretty good when we visited. I have not seen the lake when the levels were low, but based on the reviews I can imagine that it would be sad to see the lake with much less water. This is a massive lake with beautiful views all around. We got our first glimpse of Mt Shasta from... More

After an earlier review I which I referred to Lake Shasta as "Lake No More" and was reduced to tears at the sight of the drought stricten devastation reaped upon this once beautiful sight on my way back from Oregon . During my spring return to Oregon I was immensely pleased to see that it has recovered much of the... More

I have been to the lake several times when I lived in California and the surrounding area is beautiful. Having said that the drought has notably affected the level of the lake and I anticipate it getting worse. It is still worth a visit just be reasonable in your expectations.

The California drought is very apparent when viewing the lake. It is way down in water level. Would love to have seen it when it is full. Hopefully, this will happen in my lifetime so I can see it again without the long barren shores.

We have enjoyed having fun at Shasta Lake several times. Its a bit depressing right now given the California drought situation, but its still a very pretty lake. Its a very fun lake to go for a day or to take a house boat trip on.

We have spent many summer vacations on this lake. Always lots of water, even when the lake is low. Always fun, always hot with lots to do and see. We <3 Shasta Lake!
