About
The term “garagistes” originated in Bordeaux in the 1980’s and referred to a group of innovative winemakers who produced exceptional wines in their garages rather than in grand chateaux. Since 1979, we have carried on the garagistes tradition of innovation and excellance in a chateau alternative locale.Taft Street Winery continues in the garagistes traditions to this day, producing limited production, handcrafted wines from select Sonoma County vineyards. Our goals have not changed. We make great wine; make it available at a fair price; and, most of all, have fun in the process.

We've been meaning to go to the Taft St wine tasting room for years, after tasting their award winning wine at the Sonoma Harvest Fair. Well, we finally made it and we will definitely be back with friends. We made an appointment online. Seating was on a covered patio or in a yard with picnic tables under trees. Both very comfortable. The staff gave us a good introduction to the history of the winery and the wines. Our favorites were the Russian River Sauvignon Blanc and a very flavorful Grenache. Our visit was a lovely experience.

I love this tasting room and their wines. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I love the variety of wines as well. This region is known for it's Pinots so it's great they offer Syrahs and Merlots as well and the prices are reasonable.

Stopped by today on our first day in the Russian River Valley for a long weekend of wine tasting and tours. Had read about Taft and have tried some back home, but the ones we tried in at the vineyard were limited runs and much better.
I forget the host's name, but she was extremely friendly and helpful. Very informative and since this was our first visit to the area, she gave us lots of tips and suggestions. We also got to watch them unloading grapes from the trucks and starting the crushing process... it was really neat.
The tasting fee was only $5, but it was waived since we bought some wines. Would definitely recommend stopping by this one!

They didn't have my sister's favorite, sweet wines, but the family who owned it were very friendly and gave us a lot of time talking with us about the winery and the different wines. Delicious Wine samples!

These wines have always been some of our favorites. Always good are the Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc as well as the Russian River Pinot. The staff is very friendly and helpful with their wine listings. Check their web site for music events in the summer. It's a great way to spent a Sunday afternoon...wine & music!

Stopped here on a sunday afternoon and enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the Bootleg Honeys live. The band was great! Nice shaded area to sit with a bottle of wine and enjoy the music.

We stopped by recently after visiting a friend working at a winery at the Barlow.
We weren't very familiar with the area but we were given a good education by our hostess at our tasting. Nice afternoon stop.
