I came here for the Alanis Morissette concert. I recommend if you are getting tickets to a event, try to get it through the venue. Tickets I had gotten for the listed price through the venue was $85 a ticket. I later found out most...More

Delicious food and wine at the dinner. Outdoor patio provided a great backdrop for the wedding ceremony. Staff were very helpful in their assistance.

Everything about the concert was superb. The sound was spectacular, the setting intimate, and the song selection was perfect! Loan Me A Dime was a privilege to hear live. I've literally been to hundreds of concerts over the decades, and this one was special, both...More

I’ve seen many shows at the Mountain Winery, even back when it wasn’t the Mountain Winery and nothing was paved! It’s a beautiful venue. Views rival only the Greek in Berkeley or the amphitheater on Mt. Tam. My husband and I saw Lyle Lovett there...More

I don't know of anything that will beat that view from the Chateau Deck. Albeit the price is on the high side, the food was good and the view cannot be beat. It was a clear day and we could see all of San Joes and then... More

Wineries (10 Replies)
Hubby and I will have a day to spend visiting wineries in a couple of weeks. We will be there on a Sunday afternoon. We are staying in San Jose. We are really more interested in the experience than the wine. We want beautiful views, interesting tasting rooms, historic buildings, live music, and a variety of tasty sips and snacks. I know there aren't places that will have all of those things, but I would like to see a few of them here and there. I would LOVE to tour a wine cave, but it...More

If you are looking for something quaint and cute, check out Los Gatos. Otherwise, closer would be Saratoga and Cupertino. Nothing is walking distance.

Trip Report - Sonoma County (Russian River and Dry Creek) (9 Replies)
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Sonoma Wine Country, plus a nice side trip to Saratoga for a concert. Day 1, 8/29: Arrived SFO mid-day, rented a sweet red Toyota Solara convertible (Hertz, $89/day over the phone using AirTran Reward Card) and almost immediately decided that at over 100 degrees we were driving top UP, AC on. ;-) Drove directly to The Arena Hotel in San Jose to get rested and cleaned up for our concert. Arena Hotel: Nice check-in people,...More

Day 2, Aug 30: After a decent buffet breakfast (good eggs and sausage, ok crepes, old pancakes) we checked out and headed north through SF and over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a beautiful, top down morning! Leaving at 9:30am on a Thursday, it was a little trafficky but not terrible on Hwy 101. On the Sausalito side of GG, we parked, then walked halfway across the bridge. Gorgeous views of the city! Sunny, warm, no fog. We then headed out to Muir Beach, Stinson, and north on Hwy 1. There...More
