James and his crew are awesome and impress you to the max. Skys the Limit delivers beyond your expectations with their service before, during and after the adventure. James was great at answering all my questions via email. Changing my reservations for very last minuite because I had an issue. . They are very personable and accommodating. If you ask, they can give you hotel recommendations and suggestions on where to eat if you are from out of town. You can tell they are local people and can provide you stories about the area. The crew is hard working, funny, knowledgeable, helpful, and entertaining. covering 14 miles and about 5000 elevation it is incredible. I took a lot of pictures. The only balloon ride that provides both sunset and sun rise rides. I did the sun set balloon ride. The scenery was incredible. The sunset was spectacular. You get to see the whole process of set up: Blowing up the balloon, take off, and deflating the balloon it is amazing. Well worth to go back again. You might get a little hot during the ride especially during the summer becuase the hot air supplied by the propane to make the flames bigger . The piolt needs to increase the flames every so often to move the balloon up or down. You can feel the heat form the flames but is not much of a problem is only temporary. just be at the meeting place at the correct time do what they tell you to do and you will have the time of your life, it is a blast. James was the pilot, the driver, bar tender, historian, entertainer, navigator, and comedian all at the same time. Yes they served Champagne. I elected to have a soda. During the ride James pointed about different attractions, point of interest, , land forms, told us about the area, facts, . They take pictures of you in the balloon which is cool. You are transported from the meeting site to the launch site in a 16 passenger van. The ride to the launch site goes through beautiful wine country. The ride back to the meeting site was after 8 pm. we started the balloon ride at at about 6 45 pm we met at 615 pm. I would highly recommend doing this, you will not regret it. The ride was exciting, funny, relaxing not risky or dangerous .

A memory we will always treasure! Pilot James and his professional ground crew were top notch! Safety was their number one priority! My wife and I were visiting Santa Barbara from Hawaii, we took our daughter and her boyfriend up on the sunset flight to commemorate her college graduation. Pilot James’ knowledge was amazing and he made us all feel very safe. We had been on one other balloon flight in the past and this one by far made us feel confident and secure about the experience. You’re not just taking a balloon flight you're flying with a true legend! We flew 14 miles and watched the sunset into the pacific ocean, it was magical! The roar of the fire and then the silence while floating free over the landscape was unforgettable! Just do it!!
p.s. ask Pilot James about his flights over Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii .

James, Kristin and team were awesome. We did the sunset ride to celebrate my 60th birthday. Both are very are committed to making sure everyone is safe, explaining every step of the balloon riding event, what to expect and safety rules one must follow to ride. They have worked hard to build this business and are committed to your safety. James and Kristin provided narrative on what we were seeing, how the balloon is controlled and any questions we may have had. I would 100% recommend them!!

You left your review with the wrong company. Please check on who you booked with as we do not show that you had a reservation with us. Also, we have never raised rates on anyone to go on a flight. Additionally, we call every single person booked on our flights if we have to cancel and the only reason we do cancel is because of weather. We do not jeopardize the safety of our passengers if it is unsafe to fly. We have 100% safety record because of this. Please remove this review and leave it with the company you did book with as this is slandering the reputation of our good company name. We work hard to provide a passengers with the highest level of service in our industry. Thanks.

We had a group of 6 people recently try out the sunset balloon tour in Carlsbad. We had 4 adults and 2 kids (ages 8 and 14). Two of our party were not fond of heights.

Overall, everyone had a great time. We met the Sky's the Limit team at a parking lot in Carlsbad. They brought a balloon for 16 people, as there were 14 people going on the ride that afternoon.

We went to two sites to launch the balloon. The first site didn't work; however, we were able to launch from the second site. The crew actually launches test balloons and watch them ascend - they look for wind patterns, visibility ceilings, and time for ascension. At our launch site, it was actually quite interesting to watch them inflate the balloon. It took about 20 minutes to get the balloon ready to go. At which point, the passengers got into the basket. The basket has partitions (like little cells), so we had 3 to 4 people in each cell. The pilot had the center of the balloon, where he could hit the burners and control the balloon. One has to climb into the balloon (i.e., there is no gate to just walk into the basket), so anyone with issues climbing (e.g., hurt legs, etc.) should probably avoid this experience.

The balloon was incredibly smooth - there was no jostling or turbulence. Moreover, take off and landing were pretty slow so there was no "sinking" feeling like one experiences on a plane, roller coaster or elevator. Our party that wasn't fond of heights had no problems on the balloon - they spent their time looking at the horizon rather than looking down.

Our course had us fly over some of the most exclusive homes in the country. We got to see some fabulous homes from a unique vantage points. We were also able to see the ocean and the sun setting on the horizon.

We landed in an open field. While the crew took down the balloon, we had a champagne toast and found out about the history of ballooning.

Sky's the Limit really takes safety to heart, so we were never concerned about the safety of the flight. Beyond the great views of San DIego, the sunset and the ocean, we also learned a little bit about ballooning.

We highly recommend this activity if one is interested in a nice afternoon activity to try something different.

My husband and I spent a week in Carlsbad in April 2013. We wanted to do something special to celebrate our 37th anniversary and decided on a hot air balloon ride.

After researching various websites and TripAdvisor reviews, we decided on Sky's the Limit. We are so happy we did. We were able to make our reservation online. Our e-ticket came through with no problem. Between the website and the e-ticket, we knew exactly what to expect. We dressed appropriately, arrived on time and were ready for our adventure.

After signing the necessary waivers, we were shuttled to a large field. Our balloon and three other balloon companies prepared their balloons in the same field. I don't know the names of the other company's but was very impressed with the professionalism of our team. Once they finished our balloon's preparations, they helped the other teams with theirs. Once everyone was satisfied with the sky's conditions, our ballon was the first one up. We had such a wonderful ride. The other balloon's gave us great photo opportunities with the sunset, ocean, and valley as wonderful backdrops.

Our pilot was wonderful. He provided us with safety directions, great insights into balloon history, and pointed out points of interest as we flew over. Our total flight was just over an hour and we traveled just over six miles. As we were preparing to land, the pilot took our e-mail addresses and sent us the flight information including the GPS coordinates, a map with the path we flew, our minimum and maximum altitude and more.

Many thanks to Sky's the Limit Ballooning Adventures! Their professionalism and good-natured work ethics made our evening very memorable.

I had been wanting to take a hot air balloon ride, and thought our vacation to San Diego would be the perfect opportunity. I WAS AMAZED!! The ride was smooth and peaceful, and our captain, Matt, was excellent. He was very informative and engaging on our flight. The crew, led by Aaron, was also great. These guys worked so hard to ensure a safe, enjoyable flight, and I would recomment this to anyone! We took the sunset flight and it was truly memorable to celebrate our anniversary. KUDOS to Matt, Aaron, and everyone at Sky's the Limit! You will NOT regret this adventure!

We sent our 15 and 17 year old girls for a ride to top there vacation. Everything about our experience was top notch from calling and booking the trip to the crew and captains. When we arrived at the launch site it was clear that other companies were seeking James the owner for information about winds etc.. His equipment was definitely the highest quality of the group from the baskets to the balloons. James had 3 crew on the ground per balloon!! The other companies seemed under staffed. If you want a great experience book this company. You pay for what you get!!!

Started off with great service on the phone by booking a last minute trip a few hours before we left. Great customer service all around-- felt very comfortable with a large staff that was very helpful. Compared to other companies, Sky's the Limit by far had the best quality baskets, balloons, workers, and cars. Overall a great expierence and I would regret NOT choosing this company to have my first hot air balloon ride
