A bottle of Linda's Viognier in a gorgeous setting!
May 2021
This was our first time wine tasting in the Santa Ynez area and fortunately we chose Sunstone for our first winery and we could not have been happier. We live in Santa Cruz County and often visit Sonoma and Paso Robles and we have decided this is our new favorite wine tasting getaway! (We are staying in Santa Barbara which is an easy 4 hour drive from Santa Cruz and an easy day trip to Santa Ynez). Sunstone encourages visitors to bring picnics which is rare and wonderful and we picked up great food at the nearby El Rancho Marketplace. The setting is stunning and we loved sitting in their beautiful courtyard. Our hostess Sharon was so fun and friendly. We decided to have a bottle of wine in lieu of the $20pp tasting option. Sharon offered us a taste of their two Viogniers which were both delicious but we went with "Linda's" which was really good! Lots of dogs and families were enjoying the day there as well. A really fantastic day. Thank you!

Nice setting with so-so wine

The winery is pretty and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, they are serving average wine. Nevertheless, it was a very nice experience.

Best Service - thanks Alicia, Lailani, & Gladys!
Apr 2021
Our tasting this past weekend was fantastic. Gladys did an amazing job taking care of us and many tables at one time! She gave a great history of the winemaker and property while being very knowledgeable of all the wines. Alicia & her daughter, Lailani, also went above and beyond to help our group of 3 ladies. The winery was busy, we had issues with transportation making us late, and from the time we called ahead to when we arrived to when we left, they were both fantastic and helpful. Thank you, Sunstone, for employing fabulous employees who offer first-class service and made our mom's weekend away especially memorable!

The location is pretty but the wine is average
Dec 2019 • Couples
We visited this winery based on a recommendation of a friend. The atmosphere of the winery is very pretty, Tuscan themed buildings and a large area to spread out a wonderful lunch. We ate under the shade of a wine tasting building.
The parking is free in the private lot. The gift shop had lots of snacks and food if you wanted to purchase cheese, olive oils or merchandise.
We had two tastings and were not impressed by the wine. We did not by any to bring home. We did enjoy bringing our lunch and eating it on property. However there are other places in the area that are beautiful as well.

Great day with good wine
Nov 2020
My husband and I enjoyed the wine tasting of only the red wines. They were enjoyable and pleasant. It was held outdoors due to the covid pandemic
The gift shop and tours were closed. We sat at our own table many feet away from others. It was a nice day and excellent service under the circumstances.

Beautiful grounds. Several property tasting locations with comfortable seating and lively ambiance. Outstanding friendly staff. Oh, and very generous pours of their great wine. Always appreciate cab francs and grenache.

Very scenic and worth the trip!

Sunstone Winery is well worth the trip if you're in the area! Beautiful setting, very reminiscent of the Provence region it emulates and beautiful grounds even though parts were closed to tours. The seating was very wifdely spaced apart and all outdoors so it was very comfortable and felt safely within Covid guidelines. We had a reservation, although once we arrived, it didn't seem that one was necessary. We were there on a Friday early afternoon, so I expect weekends are even busier and I would definitely recommend going with a reservation. The sampling of 5 different wines was $20 per person, so a little expensive for the size of the pours. Service was a little slow, but no major complaints as it was a beautiful day to relax and enjoy the experience. A food truck on site provided some nice options for snacks.

Best. Visit. Ever

Man, where do I begin. I first want to start off by thanking Monica and Joann for being such wonderful hosts! There is a sense of genuine meeting these two amazing employees. They were very knowledgeable, energetic and down to earth. The wines were solid! Enos is my favorite, hands down.

Then Joann introduced us to the Villa. I had no idea how grand and stunning this place was. Literally a castle, yes a castle. I felt I was in Europe with the decor and the views from every single room were breath taking. The beds were extremely comfortable and I can’t tell you how massive the rooms were. This place exceeded my expectations! Thank you SO MUCH Joann for the recommendation and being awesome!
