Took the shuttle on a wonderful Saturday. Parked at the trailhead at Goodspeed on Los Alamos, and was shuttled over to Pythian at Hood Mountain. This was done on April 13th. Great opportunity to go up and over Hood. Took Lower and Upper Johnson to...More

What a wonderful Regional Park, could easily be rated a State Park because it has a portable bathroom, which does not smell, it has well marked hiking trails, it is quiet and serene, and it offers spectacular views of the valley all the way to...More

This regional park has some great hiking trails including one or two that give the hiker views of Sonoma and Napa Valleys. A great way to do a hike is to use the Sugar Shuttle from either Sugarloaf Ridge Park or Pythian Rd and then...More

Good workout and fabulous views. Nice variety of terrain and wildlife. The October fires left some scars, but lots of new growth.

The 7.4 round trip hike from Los Alamos Rd to Gunsight Lookout is a worthy cardio challenge. A few switchbacks, but mostly moderately uphill over rocky terrain, it offers tremendous vistas of the valley as you ascend through brush, forests and meadows, eventually attaining the...More

Hood Mountain is not for the faint of heart...it's one of the harder hikes in Sonoma County. The view from the top is AMAZING...so if you're in great shape, go for it. Bring water and food.

If you hike here, you can get high enough to see a lot of the Valley-of-the-Moon. Sfterwood you can taste wine or eat at the restaurant on Adobe Canyon and Hwy 12.
