About Benovia Winery
We are a fun, family-owned limited-production winery in the heart of Sonoma County. Tucked deep in the heart of the Russian River Valley, we produces some of the region’s most exclusive and sustainably-farmed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our secluded Martaella Estate Vineyard is surrounded by endless vineyard views and Mount St Helena visible in the distance. The Ranch House tasting room is a converted American farmhouse with Sonoma comfort and modern elegance. Daily appointments and reservations required.

Best winery experience of all Sonoma and Napa vineyards. This winery demonstrated a broad range of high quality wines, including Pinot noir, rose and Chardonnay. Each wine is locally grown and sourced from one winery, not blended. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. He also invited us to stroll among the vines themselves. Pricing of tastings and bottles quite reasonable. Highly recommend this Russian river Ava of the Sonoma valley.

First time visit, we were greeted by James who is a member of the family ownership and he made us feel so welcomed to Benovia. I must confess that I was little fragile from the night before so I opted for just a glass of their Rose which was amazing to say the least, while my partner decided to do the tasting which was enjoyed immensely also. The building itself and surrounding area is spectacular and no expense was spared on the design and quality to ensure a great visit and experience. I felt so at home and relaxed in such a warm friendly environment and can't wait for out next visit back to Benovia. From the staff, wine and scenery its just a great experience. Needles to say ,we left with a few bottles of wine lol.

Our second visit to Benovia. First since joining their wine club last Spring. So glad we joined. We visited this time for a member tasting and Fall Wine Club Pick-up. Reservations are required and can be done on-line. Tastings are $30 per person or complimentry for club members. We were greeted by James, grandson of winery owners, and seated indoors as it was a rainy day- there is a pleasant outdoor seating area as well. The tasting list had five wines - two chardonnays and three pinot noirs. While the winery does produce a new cabernet sauvignon, a zinfandel and a rose of pinot noir and is in the process of developing a sauvignon blanc vineyard; there is no doubt that at Benovia Chardonnays and Pinots are the stars! Very pleasant tasting highlighting the differences between vineyard sourced varietals. On the list this day was the Three Sisters Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast and the La Pommeraie from the Vineyard adjacent to the tasting room. The Pinots included the Martaella (another adjacent vineyard), the Tilton Head from the Sonoma Coast and the Cohn from the original family estate off West Dry Creek Road. All are outstanding and highly rated, James is happy to share family storie, details about the particular vineyards and/or surrounding area eateries. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment or look for Benovia on a restaurant wine list.

This was as close to perfect as a visit can get. Even being a smidge late after our driver took the scenic route, the Benovia team greeted us with open arms. Our host, a family member, was eager to share the richness of the history, give us profiles of so many of the vineyards and the wines and let us kick back. Our tasting was on the cool deck with a view of the sunshine and the vineyards. Almost every wine was an absolute treasure, unique in profile and delicious. On a hot summer day, the roses and chardonnays stood out, but we also knew what was special with pinots. Family members joined after this great experience and I bought a case for our household. If you go to Santa Rosa this is a must stop and stop-every-time kind of place. Be sure to enjoy the beautiful views in and outside of the property. It is stunning.

First time visit. Need reservations, at least currrently with covid protocols. Tasting fee was $30 per person with one tasting fee forgiven for every two bottles of wine purchased or if you join or are already a member of their wine club We were greeted by James, a member of the ownership family and as we were departing one of the owners introduced herself and thanked us for visiting. James also served our tastings and is quite knowledgeble. We tasted six wines-all good. Started with two chardonnays-one from the Sonoma Coast and one from Russian River Valley. This was followed by a Rose of Pinot Noir and the first of three Pinots we would taste. The first was Sonoma County which is a blend of multiple vineyards but it's body was more similar to a single vineyard. The final two Pinots were one from the Sonoma Coast and the other from Russian River Valley. They do produce a few other varietals but clearly specialize in chardonnay and pinot noir. Virtually all of their wines currently are rated 92 to 96 by Wine Enthusiast and most are also rated highly by Wine Spectator. The sihgle vineyard wines are pricey chardonnays begin at $55 and Pinots at %65 and escalate quickly. The rose and Sonoma County Pinot are very reasonably priced imo (low to mid $30). WE left with a six pack and joined the Benovia Wine Club.
