Even leaving the wine aside for a moment (which I am not advocating!) this place is worth a trip for the spectacularly beautiful setting alone. Having driven up through the vineyards the winery is just up a short walk through lush lavender fields. They not only sell great wine, including some varieties that are unusual in these AVAs such as... More

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wine and cheese pairing was very enjoyable while looking out on a gorgeous scenery. The entire area smelled of lavender, which was delightful. I would definitely recommend for any visitors in the Sonoma area.

My husband and I spent most of the day here. First we stopped by Mulsberry Market (highly recommend it) for all our picnic foods and deli sandwiches. When we got to Matanzas we did the wine tasting and bought one of their wonderful wines and headed out to the lavender fields. This was one of the most beautiful moments my... More

I've visited Matanzas once before purely because I love lavender. This time I went in to the tasting room and the shop. 20 mins later I tow I have a bottle of their latest 2015 Sauvignon Blanc and a lavender spray. The garden is still what I remember it to be. Once you step out of your vehicle, you can... More

So many beautiful wineries in Sonoma but this one stands out. Beautiful setting. Varied delicious wines. The lavender during summer is spectacular. We joined the wine club and will be back!

Gorgeous gardens! The wine tasting area was crowded, the service rather inattentive, and the wine is really average for the price. Still worth the trip to see the gorgeous grounds, if you are nearby.

In fairness, the wine is very good, and I would have liked to buy some. However, I was a little annoyed by the overall experience, so just paid my tasting fee and left. Clearly, this is an "attraction" on the map of tourists the world over, and they were all there on a Saturday in June to see the lavender... More

My husband and I went wine tasting today at Matanzas Creek. We were impressed! We did the wine tasting /cheese pairing and it was wonderful! Best wine tasting that we have done in the past 3 days. Judy was very attentive & helpful. All the wines were great! To top it off, the Lavender Fields were spectacular. 💜💜 So beautiful... More

I am so happy we got to visit this winery. It was on my list because it also has beautiful lavender gardens (and it sells products made from the garden). That being said, we had superb customer service from a gentleman whose name escapes me.. possibly Paul? We arrived with about 15 minutes before closing and he took his time... More

This was our favorite winery by far on our trip to sonoma. The setting was beautiful and the wine and cheese pairing was first class.
